Way To Trick Compiler For Base Type Like Integer, Long?
May 10, 2010
I'm trying to find a way to trick the compiler into exposing lines of code where the default "ToString" method of Integers, Longs, Doubles, DateTimes, etc. is being used. These are lines of code that must be reviewd for culture specifics. FxCop does not expose these areas when .ToString is not used explicity in the code.Putting a class in with something like the following freaks it out
Namespace system
Public Class Int32
Public Overrides Function ToSt
I've spent quite a bit of time reading up on generics, covariance, etc., and I am failing to understand why I get the aforementioned compiler error in this type of codeLet's say I have a base "Bill" class made up of a collection of Lines..
Public Class Bill(Of L As Line) Private _lines As List(Of L) Public Property Lines() As List(Of L)
How come both intellisense and compiler accepts If 3 = True Then ... in VB.NET? Even with option strict on.Does it in actuality treat Booleans as Integers, or what's the deal?
Can you do something like this? Public sub dosomething(byref value as (Integer or Long)) And how can you make a method accepts a unlimited amount of parameters? I'll probaly be able to find a explanation on the internet, but could anyone tell me how this is called. I am not using the right keywords I think..
Can someone give me code to do the following.if the integer is 1-9 display a string 01,02,03 etc.. if 10 or over leave it as is.string display = yourInt.ToString("00");
I have a number of controls (Device1, Device2, etc.) that all inherit from BaseDeviceControl. In the DragEnter event handler I am trying to test for the correct type by using the BaseDevvceControl like this....
Here is my code so far trying to sort the array. The only problem is with Option Strict On, it throws errors on sortedarray(i), and all of the j-1's, j's.Error is dissallows conversions from long to integer
i am trying to convert test from a label into a 'long integer' type. i will then use this long integer type to read from the database (Ms access 07). i will be reading an autoNumber from the database
I am a newbie in VB and I got a piece of code which can display the current running program. I need to use that in VB2005 and I got the below error message. Can anyone help how to fix it?[code]
I'm trying to convert a VB6 project to .NET, but I get problems with some callback functions, and the following message comes up: "AddressOf' expression cannot be converted to 'integer' because integer is not a delegate type" I've seen several solutions to similar problems like this, but I am not able to understand this issue with delegates.
After the conversion, the code look like this:
Declare Function vsmsgwSetDataPackageCB Lib "vsmsgwW.dll" (ByVal PACKAGE As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer Dim arginitP As Integer
[Code]...
Which gives the error: Method 'Public Function PackageCB(HisNodeID As Integer, ByRef data() As Byte, ByVal length As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer' does not have the same signature as delegate 'Delegate Function DelegatePackageCallback(hwnd As Integer, lparam As Integer) As Integer
I am new to EF Linq and I have been struggling with this query for a few days. From reading this forum, I have managed to get this far:
Dim noPic = (From f In myEntities.FriendLists Where (f.UserID = Profile.ID) Select f.FriendID).Except(From g In myEntities.GuestLists Where g.EventID = _id Select g.FriendID)
[Code]...
I am trying to get everybody from the FriendList who is not already on the GuestList to display in a Repeater control. After reading the forum I was able to append .First() to noPic at the myNoPic declaration and finally get a result but that only gave me the first element. Does anybody have any advice on how to accomplish this?
1) VB Allows non-type template parameters2) VB supports explicit specialization 3) VB allows the type parameters to be used as the base class for the generic type4) VB allows a generic type parameter itself to to be a generic 5) VB enforces that all codes are valid for all types of parametrs
I'm wrestling with this treeview control. I have extended the TreeNode class to attach some extra data to the node. Basically, I added one property:[code]Is there a way to cast from a base type to a derived type?
But i am now trying to declare time however i keep getting an error because i cannot get the type correct. I tried the following but get the following error: "Conversion from type 'Timespan' to type 'integer' is not valid".
Dim DeliveryTime as DateTime Dim DeliveryTime as Integer
In my database the DeliveryTime type is set to Time(7) so i would assume there should be 'Time' which i could use to declare it, but there isnt. What is the correct type i should be using?
Here is my exact code. There error is Input string was not in correct format:
GraphDate4 = String.Empty DeliveryProducts = "{ name: 'DeliveryProducts', data: [" If DataReader4.HasRows Then
Could anyone assist me in solving my problem ? My code was written in VB (VS 2003.)I got this error: System.InvalidCastException: Cast from type 'DBNull' to type 'Integer' is not valid. in my code.Here is the code line where I am getting the error: LeadCampusID = CInt(.Item("mkCampusID"))I fixed the error by making the changes in the code as :
If Not IsDBNull(.Item("mkCampusID")) Then LeadCampusID = CInt(.Item("mkCampusID")) Else
I want to use explicit conversion (CType function in VB.NET) to convert the variable d from double type to integer type and store the result as 132.
Imports System.Console Module Module1
Sub Main()
[CODE]...
This is my code. But Visual Basic tells me an error: Error1Type 'i' is not defined.C:\Users\mihaispr\Desktop\Conversie explicita\Conversie explicita\Module1.vb1922Conversie explicita
I am running a web server using VB.net and I have a bunch of pages that need to utilize similar functionality, so I was thinking of creating a shared base class that incorporates all of this shared functionality. I created a file call it SharedBaseClass.vb, and I also have a class that should inherit from this class, SubClass.aspx.vb. The Top few lines of the the parent class look like this:
Partial Class SharedBaseClass Inherits System.Web.UI.Page
And of the child class that should inherit:
Partial Class SubClass Inherits SharedBaseClass
Then at the top of the SubClass.aspx file it looks like this:
Assume that all of these files are located in the same directory.But when I try to run this, I get an error:Compiler Error Message: BC30002: Type 'SharedBaseClass' is not defined.And then the highlighted error is on the line that reads: Inherits SharedBaseClass I've also tried importing the file to no avail.
Public Pixels(0 To 95, 0 To 127) As Variant Red = Pixels(X, Y) And &HFF i get this code from VB6, and when i transfer to VB05 i got problem said " Operator 'And' is not defined for type 'Color' and type 'Integer'. " i sent to VS2005
Public Pixels(0 To 95, 0 To 127) As Object Dim red As Object Red = Pixels(X, Y) And &HFF
I'm creating a login system with ASP.NET and VB.NET, and I have the webpage read a MySQL database for a table with the usernames and passwords. In the 1st column is an auto-incrementing id number, 2nd is their username, and 3rd is the password. Here's the code I have for searching through the table (which is a GridView named "logintable"), but I get the error "Conversion from type 'GridViewRow' to type 'Integer' is not valid. It seems like this code should work, so what's wrong? [Code]
I am using a code to generate an id for a table.But it is giving 'Conversion from type dbnull to type integer is not valid' exception.Now I know that this is due to the table being an empty set.But it works properly if there is already a row in the table. [code] When I click on 'new' button it generates an id pattern in the textbox 't1'.But it gives that dbnull exception first.I am using mysql as backend and Visual Studio 2008 as frontend.Any ideas?
In vba, There is an address held by a long type which points to a null-terminated string, but I can't find a way to get the string from this address: long str_address = ... string str = ?
I saw something really strange today, that I have not seen before.I saw a variable declared as:Dim a as Long? I am obviously familiar with the Long datatype but what is Long?
[code] this code is located on my save button. i get this "Conversion from type 'DBNull' to type 'Integer' is not valid" error on "ID = cmdUser. ExecuteScalar at the 2nd block of codes('addlab') it has a value of 1 which is correct as i wanted to get the ID from supplier and then pass it to the laboratory. what may be the cause of the error?
I keep getting an over flow.I have two longs. The first is set to 16552800. I can add 32760 to it no problem. However I get an overflow error when I add 32820 to is.
