Counting Word Occurences In A String?
Nov 9, 2010I am attempting to write a very basic console application which simply counts the number of times a word appears in a sentence. This sentence is input by the user, as is the word to look for.(I also need this search to ignore the full stop and case, but I'll try and do that myself)For example:
Sentence: "This is the last time that I'll say this."
Look for word: "this"
Expected output "2" (as "this" appears twice in the sentence)
I have written some basic code below, however, the output is a boolean value rather than a count of all the times the word has been used.I have a very limited knowledge of VB, so the solution is probably going to be long winded and simplisitic. I am a mature student at university, hence the reason I am writing these odd looking applications.

May 2, 2012When I execute the code provided, Word 2010 opens and appears visible and then stops with an error: "COMException was unhandled". But if I execute the code line by line (F8), the code runs perfectly, that is Word 2010 opens, it is visible and the template is opened. The error fails (always) on the third line of code. Aug 10, 2009Im having a problem with my program which was coded in VB.net 2005. My pc is windows XP with MS Office 2003. My program works fine for users with 2003 Office but has errors on users with 2000 Office. I was able to downgrade my pc to Office 2000 so my program would reference to MS office 9.0 (2000). This proved to be successful since both 2000 and 2003 users can now print properly. The problem now is my development pc cant create any word.application ...

Secondly how do I access bookmarks or alternatively word variables.Furthermore how do one deploy web.services. For example the current program I am building is for another computer. Simply copying the web service to Inetpubwwwroot dont work because it is not picked up by the Internet Information Services program. I have to create the web service in vb2003 on the other computer change msconfig manually. Copy and paste the existing service vb file in the created folder replacing the empty vb file.

When the button is clicked we open the Word document and maximize the Word Windowstate. When we have the Visual Studio Tool running, the Word Document is maximized and has focus, even if we are running the exe from the bin folder outside of the tool. However, if Visual Studio is not running and we run the exe, focus remains on the original form window and the document stays in the task bar.

The heading will have a particular style (say Heading 1). For example: "Introduction" is a entry in Table of content with style Heading 1.
