I am using Visual Basic .Net 2005. While using /win32icon as a compiler option, it gives an error that the icon file can't be found. I found out that it works in C# but gives error in VB.

I am really confused! My program doesn't work if I don't have Visual Studio here in my PC. To test it I have uninstalled Visual Studio. But my program doesn't work though Flash Player is present there (I have used Flash animation in the first form).
To be more sure about it I have installed Flash. But it's not working! That means the Flash animation file (.swf) is not making a problem! It needs support from Visual Studio to start. Doesn't it mean that some files are not attached with a setup file as a result it needs Visual Studio to run? Let me tell you how I create a setup file of my program.

View 2 RepliesGot an annoying issue it's Visual Basic 2010 I changed icon where the assembly name.I got a good icon it has lots of sizes, or I tried diff sizes like 64x64 128x128 nothing seems to work I only see the icon when i do View > Details so it's small icons in the folder, but if i have view large icons It doesn't work. I even used the same icon on VS 2008 and it worked.
View 1 RepliesI have a windows project completed and am using an MDI with a help menu.So now I'm working with a click once deployment.When the user clicks help, it should load an .HTM file, but instead, when installed on the client it gets a "page cannot be displayed error".
I created the file in word. Saved as an .HTM. along with it came the images folder. I placed it in the bin/debug folder. I've made sure all the images and the .HTM files are set to Build Action = content and Copy Always. These files are copied out to the deployment website. It shows as "required(auto)" under appication settings, publish. Everything else in the deployment works nicely, including Crystal Reports and Powerpacks.So what is going wrong with this?The help is a windows form with a browser control on it and the following code.Note that the Catch on the Try doesnt kick in either on the client.

Im trying to make the an icon for the form work with my own icon, because all programs have their own(like ie hat the e and paint.net has their logo), but whenever I put in my icon phote(and it is saved as .Ico) it comes up with the error: Argument 'picture' must be a picture that can be used as an icon. I have the same measurments as the defult one(32 by 32) so what am i doing wrong?
View 8 RepliesI have a vb.net 2008 application which has its corresponding icon.
The icon shows correctly except in the taskbar when the "small icon" setting is on.
My vb.net project includes a .ico file which when I see in the IDE includes 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64 and 256x256 bitmaps, in 4, 24 and 32 bits, also 3 .png images in 256x256 32 bits each.
I made the icon myself simply using a 64x64 bitmap and then converting it to .ico, and assigning it to the application in the project properties. I thought windows would use and escalate the corresponding image, it shows even in the file explorer properly in the small icon form, but not in the taskbar.

I have built a recursive file system crawler that amasses file system data from a file share. I use the FileInfo object to get my metrics, however, I am finding that in especially deep file structs, that the ol' 260 character MAX_PATH MS bug crops up ':8-0:'. This puts me in my angry place, since I do not seem to be able to get around it no matter what kind of programmatic tom-foolery I try.
So far, I have tried:- converting to 8.3 format --> no good path + filename STILL is > 260 (believe it or not) - tried to go with a Straight low-level API approach
What I have found is some pretty Sketchy information regarding VB implementation of the kernel32 api's in this regard (just try & find a createfile port for vb.net, I couldnt)
Anyway, I guess I was hoping that someone else has run into this pain, and knows how to make a surefire way to get a file's information (size, dates esp), regardless of how long and painful the path may in fact be...
I have an application that requires data be entered, and after entering, a button is clicked to process that data. Clicking the button works just as it should--the data is processed properly. In constructing a test module, I provide a set of data values, followed by:
btnWhatever.PerformClick()
Nothing happens. I have used this syntax for years, and it has always worked flawlessly. I have triple checked everything else and isolated the problem to the failure of the PerformClick(). The PerformClick() is in a test subroutine that does nothing but fill textboxes and labels with default data, then calls the PerformClick() on the button to begin processing. Again, the button works fine, the data is entered as it should be, but the PerformClick() does not fire the click event.
I have absolutely no clue why my notify icon will not appear. I use notifyicon1.visible = true on the form's load event, but it seems to not be working. I have tried every single thing possible. Does anyone know what is going on???"When the going gets tough, the tough get Chuck Norris"

I'm setting up a simple XML read-write demo (VB Winforms) in Visual Studio 2010 Premium (tried in both the RC and RTM) and added:

Result: Error Namespace or type doesn't contain any public members or cannot be found...
VS 2008 equivalent example recognizes the Imports statement fine.I know this has to be me, but I'm stumped.
Note: I tried this with the app targeting both .Net 3.5 and 4.0. Same result.
What must I add to the deployment project so that when the user clicks Start>All Programs>My icon, my program runs. Now the explorer comes up pointing to the application directory.

I have developed a program using vb.net 2008 that will allow you to open another program at a specific time. This is just a beta and that is why 2 way of telling the program when to close the program that opened and this program.Anyway this is my issue when I get everything set up to open the program once it opens i don't have focus on the main form or the notification icon. (When the program has not lauched the program I am able to use the notication icon. (notification icon does the follow: restores the main window to normal view and exits the program.) Could some help to get the notification icon to work when the program has launched.[code]
