Windows Messaging - SendMessage() Doesn't Work On A Window Already Found?
Oct 14, 2011
I am trying to SendMessage to an app called 'Signal threads' - a test app which sends out a message called TV1_Threads, and listens for a reply. I have shown the values of each variable in the commented areas.
I am using Visual Basic .Net 2005. While using /win32icon as a compiler option, it gives an error that the icon file can't be found. I found out that it works in C# but gives error in VB.
I have a question regarding a javascript command. What I am doing is on a asp.net page, a user clicks on a print button which I have another page open up and at the bottom of that page, I put in a simple script command, but I have noticed that my window.close doesn't always work. [Code]
When trying to compile my newly created ClassLibrary class 'Validator' that validates entries made into TextBoxs or MaskedTextBoxs, I get the following error:
Warning 1 Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'System.Windows.Forms' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases. C:Users erryDocumentsVisual Studio 2008ProjectsMillerClassLibMillerClassLibValidator.vb 1 9 MillerClassLib.
Following is the first part of code in the class:
Imports
System.Windows.Forms Public Class Validator

What can I do to resolve this problem? The classes in this class library will be used to validate forms data input in a number of varied projects.
I've developed a small windows form application in Visual Studio 2005. I have tested the application on a completely fresh install of Vista 32-bit as well as Vista 64-bit and it works fine... But when I copy the application onto an XP machine the following problems occur:The application no longer has its icon, just the default .exe console box icon Whenever I try to open the application, absolutely nothing happens
Visual Studio 2005 SP1cr10 developer also installedOn XP machine, works fine. Got a Windows 7 machine(64bit and all) and copy over the project, run it and can't, I get an error in each crystal report gets an error [code]I take these lines out, and no more error for the report. Since there are like 40 reports in a project and there's 5 different projects that would have to be altered, this will be a pain. And I'm not the only developer. Another developer, on Vista and another will be coming in on XP, don't have this issue. I've tried uninstalling everything Cr and visual studio, then reinstalled visual studio and ran it, same thing, then installed SP1, same thing, then updated security fixes, same thing. CR10 isn't installed. I've removed and added the references back ,they seem to be the exact same versions.
I have a test app driven by bluetooth serial events In my form load code I hide the cursor so it doesn't get in the way of pictures (fullscreen) When one event is called by bluetooth, it brings up a msgbox and the user has to click OK. I tried Windows.Forms.Cursor.Show() but it doesn't work.
I'm guessing it's something to do with delegates and events and the form, but the debugger doesn't complain at any point. It just refuses to show the cursor. How can I get my serialport event to show the cursor? And then hide it after?
I have the following code and I can't get the lost focus to work.
Private Sub txtSpeed_KeyDown(ByVal eventSender As System.Object, ByVal eventArgs As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles txtSpeed.KeyDown, txtSpeed.LostFocus
I have a MDI form that has a child form that is opened by default when the application loads. I also automatically maximize the child form. Even though I have set ShowIcon to false, the little blank image that indicates that there is no icon appears in the upper left hand corner of the form. Is there a way to get rid of this?
Private WithEvents m_frmLineItems As frmLineItems m_frmLineItems = New frmLineItems(Me) mfrmLineItems.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized
I have one tool which we developed on visual studio 2010. there are basically two parts of my project, one is UI part which i wrote in VB and algorithm part which is in C++ on back end. When we compile C++ part it creates a .dll which is used by my front end VB program.
Now my problem is little weird since i am compiling and deploying this tool on windows xp machine but some of the users are using windows 7 64 bit machines and after running the program for about 5-10 minutes, it crashes on windows 7 with following error
Not enough storage is available to process this command and when i view details of that error, i get the following description.
See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.
************** Exception Text ************** System.ComponentModel. ************** Loaded Assemblies ************** mscorlib
[Code].....
i am completely clue less for this error since this program works fine on xp but doesn't work on windows 7.
I am launching an external that brings up a window that is split into two frames. I am able to get the handle of the frame and what I want to do is click inside the frame in a certain area.
For example, if I open "System Information" by launching msinfo32.exe, how would I click on Internet Settings in the left window pane? I don't need the exact coordinates, just an explanation of how it can be done using SendMessage or PostMessage.
I wasn't sure if the end two numbers would be coordinates, but if they are, I've tried different numbers and can't seem to get it to click anything other than the first item in the list of the left window frame.
Excuse me for posting this, but I have searched both Google along with this forum before asking this question, maybe I'm not using the right keywords but I apologize if it's easy to find.I would like to know how one could close a third-party window (application) if a specified string was found in the window title.
I have an application that requires data be entered, and after entering, a button is clicked to process that data. Clicking the button works just as it should--the data is processed properly. In constructing a test module, I provide a set of data values, followed by:
btnWhatever.PerformClick()
Nothing happens. I have used this syntax for years, and it has always worked flawlessly. I have triple checked everything else and isolated the problem to the failure of the PerformClick(). The PerformClick() is in a test subroutine that does nothing but fill textboxes and labels with default data, then calls the PerformClick() on the button to begin processing. Again, the button works fine, the data is entered as it should be, but the PerformClick() does not fire the click event.
I am in the process of developing a messaging framework for a windows application that sends messages to a java application. To be precise when the win app wants to send a message it simply drops the message in a common database table which will be picked up by the java app. The windows application is deployed across 10 application servers (10 instances) over citrix for load balancing. Each instance of the application is capable of sending a message to the java application and each of these messages should have a unique id. From my end I need to make sure every message generated has to carry a unique id so that they can be identified when necessary. All the messages can be cleared every day or two.i am not quite sure about a best method of achieving this. Initially I wanted to create a static method that serves the next available id (incrementing the last id by 1). But this approach willn't guarantee unique number as the application starts only when at least one user is logged on. For e.g .On one server the app starts when a user logs in, he then sends a message and then the application stops when that user logs off. So when a next request for the app comes to that server a new instance will be started.
I have below installer class to ngen app after installation and I'm getting several errors.
Imports System.Collections Imports System.ComponentModel Imports System.Configuration.Install 'This line gives warning: Namespace or type specified in the Imports
I have installed the SDK 5.1 (using the default install path). My issue is that I'm still not able to use Speech with in my programs. I have Imports SpeechLib. But this is the error I get when I hit return to finish coding:Warning1Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'SpeechLib' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases.C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\ipfinder\ipfinder\Form1.vb19ipfinder
how to fix it so as I can use the Speech in VS 2008?
I have a WPF VB.NET project in Visual Studio 2008. For some reason, Visual Studio thinks that it needs to add anImports MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtinsto every auto-generated XAML partial class (= the nameOfXamlFile.g.vb files), resulting in the following warning:warning BC40056: Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases.I can remove the Imports line, but, since this is an auto-generated file, it reappears every time that the project is rebuilt.

So I have 2 data files, single dimension, that I'm trying to populate two rtb. If I comment one streamreader out the other will print. This also works in the vise versa situation. Does anybody see where I'm going wrong with this? They won't run together.
