I found a way to use VB.Net to get the default audio device in Windows 7 through downloading something extra - in this case, NAudio - but I'm now having to research whether this can be done through nothing more than run-of-the-mill Visual Studio .Net stuff, with no extra downloads, externally-done system configurations, or anything else whatsoever. Is this possible? My current research suggests that it basically isn't.

I'm just getting started with Visual Studio (2005), and my aim is to write a fairly simple application in Visual Basic that will need to store some data to disk.What I really want is to be able to send the application to the end users (xp, vista, win7) and have them just be able to use it without having down download all kinds of extras. For example I'm guessing that if I use an SQL database in my application they will need to download SQl server express or some other sql downloadable?
If so is there a similar downloadable for MS Access?I'm just in the 'seeing how things work' stage at the moment and I don't want to waste time going down the SQL track just to find it won't actually work unless my users all download SQL to their machines (which they won't want to do).
I recently had to format my PC, So I moved my project files and build files to my External Hard Drive, and continued to work on my project.. I started to receive emails saying that the application is saying "Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files. Contact application vendor for assistance." After clicked view details, I found this:
+ Downloading file:///C:/Users/myuser/Downloads/Browser.application
did not succeed.
The .application file is not in Downloads, its supposed to download it from my website. And if I were to open my project on a computer with it already installed, it won't check for updates - it opens really quick without the "Viewing Application Requirements" window.

I want somehow to insert an excel file into the application so the user will be able to download it from the program and save it to his computer. This means that the file will be a part of the program. There will be a button that will prompt the user to save the particular file somewhere so he can then view it.
What should I do in order to "embody" the excel file to the application? And what code should I write to link the file with the button?

The HTML is generated by javascript, and not sure how to do the same thing they do.On the site I simply click the "Georgia KMA" cell in the table that pops up, then click "OK" button at bottom.I've gotten the login done, now I'm stuck, can't get a "Click" to occur in the cell. I've got the javascript up and can't identify for sure what handling the click input.What I'm doing is writing vbscript to automate a file download.I don't have access to modify the site in any way.I have verified by using a msgbox that the DIV item 107 is the correct item for what I want. with this code it doesn't highlight the cell so when I click OK it doesn't do anything but tell me to select one of the listed items.

Does vb 2010 have a 'REQUIRED" property or control that allow you to make a textbox a "required" field? I googled and saw something about required property in controls in toolbox but somehow I could not find it anywhere in my vb 2010 toolbox. Would it be easier to write it? Is there a better way to stream one stream into another? Maybe a smaller buffer, like 1024 bytes at a time, is more efficient for large files?

View 12 RepliesI have a VB 2008 program over the Northwind DB customer table.It uses LINQ to add, delete and edit records.
So I load everything into a datatable/dataset first.The Add and Delete occurs when the buttons are clicked on a binding navigator. The edit occurs when a cell is changed, and that row is clicked off. I've set the Customer ID field as the primary key in the DT. I then bind everything together with a binding mavigator.

I have a datagridview that is being loaded from a dataset. This dataset is the result of a SQL Statement (which could be my problem). The MS Access Client table is the main table and contains 2 records, however, after loading the dataset, the row count is 3.

We are filling a combobox with customer names from a table. select ID, name from tbl_customers order by name The names we are filling with CMB_custom.Items.Add(RSselct("name").Value) Is there a possibillity to put the ID into the combobox? If we select a name from the combo we can get also the ID.
