[2005] Picturebox Is Crashing When Their Is No Filename Available In M?
Feb 27, 2009
I want to add a picture in my picturebox. I can do this with a normal link to my directory, but I want it relatively.I also have another problem with this picturebox. For some rows in my database, there isn't a filename in the Picture column. And when I select this row in my program. The program crashes because the program can't find a filename.What can I do to make sure that my program keeps working and that there is just no picture in my picturebox?This is the code I have now
Private Sub ShowPictureTonen()
Dim dtrPicture As dtsMuziekcollectie.tblDVDInhoudRow
Dim strLinkPicture As String

i know how to do this in VB6 but not sure of the syntax used in .net... I have a mdb database with a field "Simage" containing a filename of a picture that I want to load into a picturebox. I've tried a few different ways like this but no luck. PictureBox1.Load("c:images" & StampsBindingSource.DataMember!Simage & ".jpg")
I am trying to trim the path from a filename. With the following code, it returns "My Documents" where I should be getting "Test.txt". if I change the 1 to a 4 I get what I'm looking for, but that's not going to work if I'm working with a file deeper into subdirectories. I need it to display the name of the file regardless of location or file type.

is there any way to attach a sql mdf by filename but actually make the database name something else?
the problem i'm having is that my connection string attaches the database just fine, but it gives the database a name of it's full path on the hard drive when i pull it up in SSMSE. ie. "c:program filesmy programmy database.mdf" is shown as the name when i do a sqlcmd and issue a select name from sys.databases
the snag is being hit due to the fact that i'm trying to do a "bcp in" and because a: there are spaces in the database name, and b: there's the .mdf extension also added to the database name that when i run my bcp in command it errors out, even if i use the -q option of bcp.
if i start SSMSE and right click the database and rename it, bcp works great - so my question is, how do i correctly format my connection string to attach to c:program filesmy programmy database.mdf, yet have it attach the database as "mydatabase" for use in bcp statements?
i've been to connectionstrings.com and they only cover the standard connection strings
in summary - i want to attach an mdf file programmatically and specify the name that ssmse see's it as....
Quick query...I'm trying to scan a long string and return any values that occur between the tags <FileName> and </FileName> I've got a bit of code here to use regular expressions to return the position of the occurunces of both substrings..Just wanted to find out if there is any way to scan for both substrings within one loop (as im currently doing 2, one for the first substring and one for the 2nd) so I can use something along these lines:
to msg box the value between the substrings...either that or another approach to return the value between the 2 substrings (it can be of variable length)
Dim patternstart As String = "<FileName>" Dim patternend As String = "</FileName>" Dim matchesstart As MatchCollection = Regex.Matches(XMLRESP, patternstart)
How would I do that? Sample code is below that demonstrated that the file I opened contained the full path and file name.
I want to extract just the path and serialize that to the user.config file as a UserSetting value. Then next time the user opens the dialog box, it uses that saved path string to go immediately to the location previously used.
If openFileDialog1.ShowDialog() = DialogResult.OK Then Properties.Settings.Default.persistConnectionType = openFileDialog1.FileName Properties.Settings.Default.Save();
I have a Listview on my form with different files. I can selet a file en open it with the proces start method. To open the file i use the OpenFileDialog method and select the filename. This work very good. With the code below.
My question is if there is a method to get the selected file without using the OpenFileDialog Box. So when i dubbelclick the selected file the proces will start with open the selected file. Something like:
proc.StartInfo.FileName = Me.SelectedCell.FileName instead of proc.StartInfo.FileName = Me.OpenFileDialog1.FileName
PS) May be i can preduce the Filename using the OpenFileDialog method on the background.
Private Sub ListView1_MouseDoubleClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles ListView1.MouseDoubleClick If Me.OpenFileDialog1.ShowDialog() = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then
I am working with picclip for a skin on my program. It all runs great when i run the application from the computer it was developed on. Once I transfer the build to another computer the picclips wont load. Any way to use a picturebox in the same manner im using a picclip.
Here is my picclip source With PictureClip2 .Picture = Image.FromFile(App_Path() & "Skins" & SkinName & "images" & Me.Name & "OFF.JPG") .ClipX = CShort(Image1.Left / 15) .ClipY = CShort(Image1.Top / 15) .ClipHeight = CShort(Image1.Height / 15) .ClipWidth = CShort(Image1.Width / 15) End With
The program i am trying to build populates a series of textboxes from a csv datafile and picturebox upon text change.The problem I ran into is that if there is no picture for a particular record the rest of the record doesnt populate into the textboxes
My thought, and perhaps someone has a better idea on how to handle this behavior is to have a default image loaded in the event, no image was present.
[Code]...
If this is a good way to handel the behavior then my question is where would the default image be stored? The program would have to be compiled with the default image? I have yet to compile a program before, getting close though
i have loaded an image to picturebox from resource which can be any size,but i just want that a image i have loaded to my picturebox,image resolution is 48*48,than now how i can set image size in picturebox.
I am trying to save a pic from my picturebox. I copy an image and paste it into the picturebox. I would like to save the image that I have pasted to a file.
I am creating a bar-chart at runtime using the code below. I would like to print the result of the chart on a A4 paper (Landscape). And add header and footer to it. Do i need to save it as a graphic first?How can i print this?
Private Sub PictureBox1_Paint(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs) Handles PictureBox1.Paint Dim canvas As Graphics = e.Graphics Dim heighestamount As Integer
how to make picture box can capture "image" from a webcam, its more like "online" photo..ps: online means when i capturing a video, i get my visual on my computer.. so my purpose is taking a picture with web cam and the output goes to picture box.. or maybe go to "something that i doesn't know" first.. but next that capturing photo could sent to picture box.. cause i need get the pixel..
I have a picture box that i can click on and drag the mouse around to define a region with in it. The problem is the region is not reset when you click and drag, only when you simply click. You then need to click and drag again and it does not set the region to the new location of the mouse. It is hard to explain so i have example code below. Simply copy and paste into a form named Form1 of a new project and run.
Option Explicit On Option Strict On Public Class Form1
I need to convert the color as semi-transparent for the picturebox to see something behind the picturebox.... Here, I have a difficult situation. When I set the image color using with the code, none of them are works. So I got them rid it. ARG!!!! I need to find the fact semi-transparent for the picturebox.
have placed picturebox in front of shockwave control and I can see the picturebox black color. I would like to know how I could use picturebox as shockwave transparent??
I have a problem when i opened a picture that size image < size picture box How can make the background of the picture box become an image too because my coding was to get the pixel from width and height picture box.. When I found the none image property, vb will show the error.. said coordinate(x,y) was null. It can be illustrated like on the picture above.
Sometimes I will used it when: picture properties - size mode = center image So the picture will found at center height and width.. and the background will surround it. Sometimes I used it after rotating the picture.. The problem occur when the picture get rotate for 45 degree. I am taking all point corners of the image and rotating it. So the picture will create 4 triangle at the corners..
I've found an example of what I'm trying to do. The form will have 2 picture boxes. The first will be the original image. The second will have the zoomed image. Once I move my mouse over the first image, it must display a zoomed image in picturebox 2. I've attached the code that I found (written in C#) of what I'm trying to do. I've converted the code for me to VB. I want my first picturebox to be smaller than my second one. And the attached example shows that the first picturebox is bigger than the second one. I've never tried something like this, or drawing images etc. Just resize the 1st picturebox to be smaller that the second one, move with your mouse over the first one, and will see what I mean. I don't want to click on the image to have it zoomed or use the mouse wheel. Just want to hover over the image and display the zoomed version..
how to correct my code.It seem dont have error but it only able to load 1 picture only.In my code here i am using combobox to load a image into Picturebox. I got 3 item in combo box and 3 image which need to load in picturebox.
Private Sub CBpayment_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As ystem.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles CBpayment.SelectedIndexChanged PBOffice2.Image = My.Resources.dollar_us
And nothing ever shows up. I figure it's because I am not doing something like Image.FromStream(), but I also don't know how to integrate something like that into that line. I could just re do the image box on row enter rather than bind, but I don't know how to manually pull the data from the binder.
I have a dll that someone made me in C++. I needed to use this dll in VB, in order to do that I had to make another dll in C++ that has functions I can call in VB.
The C++ dll I made has 4 functions. 2 callback functions that retrieve information from the original C++. And 2 functions that I can call from VB to send that information.
I know the original dll works fine as Ive tested it endlessly in a console app.
However when I use it with my dll and VB.. I get random crashes.
There is almost no code in my VB app as its just for testing. It just outputs the information so theres no problem there.
I believe the problem is in the C++ dll I made. I am pretty new with C++.I think maybe a variable gets accessed in 2spots at the same time (is this possible?) and causes it to crash?[code]...
