Mar 9, 2009How do i make a variable that can hold more than 1 piece of data. I wan't a variable that can keep 4 number in it. When i count them in using a for loop the only thing i have after it is finished is the last number counted in by the for loop.

Concatenating A Variable With A Regex Group Match In Regex.replace?
Apr 5, 2012I am having an issue where I am using regex.Replace to replace part of a string. The basic idea is that I want to capture the beginning of the string then replace the end of the string with a value from code. For an example pretend I have a string that says "Test Number " followed by number and I want to increment that number. I capture the "Test Number " but when I try to concatenate that capture with the new number it treats the capture ($1) as a literal and replaces the entire string with $1[new number].

This will output "We are on Test Number 2", as expected. how I can use a variable in the replacement string portion of the Regex.Replace when including a captured group?

Jul 11, 2009i have a program that is going to be disabling services depending on what is selected by the user via check boxes, and it would also add to the log if it failed or succeed ( the dim xfailed as integer ). There are a total of 73 options for services and i didn't feel like copy and pasting IF THEN statements for all 73. I was wondering if i could make a loop out of this?

Dec 23, 2010I decided it's time to migrate from VB6 to VB.NET and am currently translating my radio player but have run into several issues so I might be on this forum for the rest of the day... Anyway, in VB6 I used Inet to get the source of a PHP page that had the current song that was playing on the SHOUTcast stream. I can't seem to get Inet to work and figured I would just look for another method so I wouldn't need to pack msinet.ocx along with the finished product.
How can I get the source of the PHP page and store it in a variable or textbox/label.
VS 2008 Using Loop Variable As Array Selection?

Also have a variable:
dim loopsize = 10
Then i do this:
for loop = 1 to loopsize
array(loop) = 5
next
What i wanted to do with this is from array(1) through to array(10), the values will be changed to 5. But vb will not allow this and crashes.
Why doesn't this work and how can i make it work?

Sep 15, 2011I am trying to import a text file into a data table using VB.NET. I need to loop thru each line of the text file and put certain elements of that line in a new row of the data table. The line may contain 50 elements, but I only need to get 15 of them. The very first line is a header row, which contains "File Name", "Object Name", "Object Weight", etc. The trick is the element locations move from file to file. For example, "File Name" element may be located at 0 in one file and then 15 in the next file. I need to find the exact location of my desired elements and save them to a variable. Then use that variable to locate the exact piece of data in the text file line to place in my new row.
The code below obviously doesn't work, but it kind of illustrates what I need to have done.

Jan 19, 2011I want to build a VB program that will go to a web site and pull out a specific piece of data.I am using VB Express 2010 not sure if it belongs in this .net forum.I am successfully getting to the website using WebBrowser.navigate()The data is provided to me in XML format and I am told that it is ready to be retrieved. They tell me to use XML Parser.When I go to their web site I see the data I need to pull out there is a column with tags in front of each piece, the piece I need is between <Vr0> and </Vr0>.I have no resources other than the net currently I do have a dummies book ordered but will be at least next week (at the earliest) before my first book arrives.Can you explain how I can sort through the data and pull out the data in XML format on a web site?

I have an array of threads 'gen' already working, calling to a method taking a single integer as a parameter (done via typecasting).Now in this thread, when the function gets processed (for each thread a roughly 500 iteration while loop) the index seems to be getting mixed up. As far as I can tell, my threads are messing with eachother and warping values. Now this is happening in locally declared variables inside this function, not global variables.It may be useful to know that I am using a WebRequest via a call to another method. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Regular Expression - Grab Data Between Two Sets Of IDs

The regular expression I use is:

Which works in most case but when I have a single value like this
<CLASSCOD>N</CLASSCOD>
It says there are no matches.
The whole data string looks like this :
