I built a form in in vb to look similar to a physical form a client uses to do work orders.Where I am running into problems is when I build the printdocument_printpage using e.graphics to build the labels and the variables like thise.Graphics.DrawString("Customer:", myfont, myBrush, 4.513889, 0.7326389)e.Graphics.DrawString(txtCustomer.Text, myfont, myBrush, 1.052083, 0.4270833)I find it to be very hard to come up with the locations for lines, vars, and labels when I have close to 100 of them. Is there any easy way to
I'm working on a WYSIWYG Blog Editor, I'm having an issue with my text selection. I've added a couple of graphics to illustrate. My code is selecting the text and putting it back into the textbox, but it's adding extra text. I can't quite figure out how to get it to select the intended text and manipulate it correctly (make it Bold or Italic and so on,) and then show the text in the two windows (one is the Textbox and the other is a webtext box) correctly.
Below is my code and my 2 graphics.
Public Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click boldstart = "[ b ]" 'variables to hold formatting boldend = "[ /b ]" wboldstart = "<b>" wboldend = "</b>" clearrtf = ""
[CODE]............
Every thing works up to the point when I try to manipulate the text, it then puts more text in. I have been trying to find info on how to clear the text box and then re-insert the text with the text formatting. Side note in my graphics is a small graphic that is just there as a marker for me, it has no affect on the actual program.
Does anyone know how to turn off the blank space delimiter of a dot? I have no idea how I turned it on, but now there's a dot where every whitespace charater would be in the IDE's code window.
I have a rich text box with images and the formating all setup right. I am tyring to print them to the default printer. I think I am on the right track but need some direction.
Private Sub PrintDocument1_PrintPage(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Drawing.Printing.PrintPageEventArgs) Handles PrintDocument1.PrintPage Dim fnt As New Font("Arial", 8, FontStyle.Regular, GraphicsUnit.Point) e.Graphics.DrawString(rtbReceipt.Text, fnt, Brushes.Black, 0, 0) e.HasMorePages = False End Sub
This prints only the text in rtbReceipt, but no images and no format.
My project needs to print a large PictureBox which during runtime only part of it is shown (as it's too large, width=4000 pixels and height= 2000 pixels) and to see the rest of the picturebox, user needs to scroll through the vertical and horizontal bars. On top of the picturebox, there are many controls which are loaded and positioned by user on run-time. Those include lines, labels, another picturebox with image and user-defined controls. Now, i need to write a print function which will print that picturebox to not too many pages in A4 size or A3 size. Not too many means less than 5 for both paper size.
1) How can i print the whole picturebox with all its contents and go to next printing page until the whole PictureBox is printed? I tried using the following code but
(i)The image of picturebox inside that picture box and user-defined control are not printed whereas others are printed. Why is that so? How can i print the picturebox including both the "un-printed"?
(ii) Even i can print out the picturebox, only the part where the picturebox is shown is printed. How can i print the whole picturebox including those parts which needs scrolling to reach?
Private Sub CmdPrint_Click() Dim rv As Long 'Picture1 is the picturebox to be printed.
I have a course work for which I have to make a (as advanced as possible) WYSIWYG web page editor in VB.NET (2010). It should have a visual editor with drag-drop support for several elements such as anchors, images, tables etc, and it should generate HTML based on that structure.
I don't know where to begin though. I have some experience with vb.net, I made a tabbed notepad vaguely following a tutorial, but I don't know how to make this drag-drop thingy in a richtextbox. I've searched for a tutorial, but most of them are just too simple, a text editor with browser control rendering the HTML.
im trying to addapt my printing code so it will print my text what ever i have selected it to be in the text editor. here is the code i have at the moment
Private Sub PrintDocument1_BeginPrint(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Drawing.Printing.PrintEventArgs) Handles mypdoc.BeginPrint str = CType(Me.ActiveMdiChild, frmSplit).RTB.Text 'If this was a single text
I have a RichTextBox and a button. When the user clicks the button, I want to open an editor in which the user writes and formats a Text and when the user closes the editor, i want the Text to be displayed in the richtextbox.
The project I'm developing at the moment requires RTF (rich text format) support and a full WUSIYUG editor, however I am very short on time so I'd like to consider an alternative. Instead of designing a new interface and creating buttons and toolbars and everything from scratch, I'd like to use WordPad to create the RTF documents and a RichTextBox to show them in-application.My idea was as follows:When the user needs to create a new document (once the document has been created, it will remain read-only), the application would launch WordPad via Process.Start and then it will wait until it exits. I think I can manage it up to here.Next, the user would save the file and the file's location should be sent to the application. If possible, I'd like to be able to retrieve the saved file's location automatically via code, or at least choose the preferred path (the directory which appears first when you save a file).
If retrieval of the saved file's location is not possible, then I was considering using SetCurrentDirectory to set the preferred path to a certain folder, instructing the user to save the file there under any name and then comparing the files in that folder with a previously created list to see which file was added. For obvious reasons, I'd prefer this method to stay a last resort
I just purchased Visual Studio 2008 Standard edition and the XML editor that I had and loved in Studio 2005 is either not available or not working. If I open up an XML file, it just opens it as a plain text file. Is this a feature that was left out of 2008 or what?
I made a CSV editor in VB08 and I cant save it. It looks like my save coding is correct but I don't know why the edits I do to the .csv files after I opened them wont actually save them although it does say I saved it.
I just start with vb and wand to make a html editor, (i dont need help with html im webdesigner)i've made a form with a richtextbox how i can hilight tags like <HTML> or that everything becomes blue when you forgot >I can do that in javascript but not in vb?
I am using a rich text box and I know a simple way to change the color of a selected word...but I can't make it do it for all the words.Do I need a custom control for this sort of thing...?Also, example: word "If" becomes blue, and all If's in the RTB would be blue.
im kind of new to visual basic and programming all together, and im trying to make an iphone ringtone maker, yes i know there are some out there but i want to make a simple one. my question is; is there a way i can code a text box or something to edit the start and stop times of a song i open into my program?
I'm working with DevExpress GridLookUpEdit Control and I'm a bit stuck with it. Now I know you can't help a lot if you don't have access to it, but I'm trying to figure out why can't I do something like this with it:
GridLookupEdit1.DataBinding.Add("NullText", ds.Tables(0), "SomeField")It gives me an error, says it can't find NullText Property. This confuses me because NullText IS a property and I use it in my code to set the text inside the Editor.
Here is my code for reading a Binary file: Dim fs As New FileStream(filepath, FileMode.Open) Dim str As String = "" For d As Integer = 0 To l - 1 Dim byt As String = Hex(fs.ReadByte()).ToUpper fs.Position = d str+= byt Next
str becomes: 20202CB962AC5975B964B7152D234B But when I open the file in a HEX editor, it's: 202CB962AC59075B964B07152D234B70 Why are the 2 different?
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 and I split my text editor into two vertical text editors. I thought it would be useful to have a macro that re-size the active text editor to take up most of the screen but I haven't gotten very far. I get an error whenever I try to change the width of a text editor.
I need stop printing and paper feeding in the middle of printing in dot matrix printer.(Like a POS Printer - When wrote 'End Doc' on POS printer can stop paper feeding)
Context VS2008 SP1VB source file Problem Using xml documentation tags, VB IDE keeps deleting the closing "</remarks>" tag and a couple dozen preceding characters of text if the content is more than a few lines long.Example: Tag has been deleted mysteriously.
I have seen a few open source c# "Text code editor controls" that have auto indent and support contractions (+ - things you see in the code window to contract an if statement for example).
I installed my VB 2008 0n my new laptop with Windows 7. New when i edit a project, i am having a problem with my keybaord. I need to press two of my keys twice to show. The keys are ' and ` This is only happening in VB, My Office and other programs is affected by this. I try the keyboard mapping in Windows.
I am using VB 2008 & Access Databases for creating WinForm Applications. Also i am using Crystal Reports for Report solution. my question is How do i created reports such a way that they can be printed in faster Ascii Format on any DotMatrix printer. The default true type fonts make printing very slower.
I tried to use "Draft 10 cpi" font which come to available me after i installed a correct driver for my Epson printer. which also helped me overcome this problem. however it wont be the scenario with all my clients i.e. they might have different printers having different Make with different drivers installed. i have tried to open such project on there PC but the printing wont come in Draft instead the fonts get expanded too much & the print wont come right.
I'm using VS 2008 under Windows 7. When I hover the mouse over a variable in debug mode, the value will fade in slowly. Sometimes it is annoyingly slow, I just want the value to show up, no animation or fading. Or is this fading feature a Windows thing and not a VS thing?
I am trying to extend the functionality of the ToolStripPanel control (which is a panel hosting ToolStrips that can be moved during design-time, as I'm sure you know). One thing I wanted to add was a 'ToolStrips' property, which would be a collection of ToolStrips the user can edit via the collection editor in the designer. So instead of manually placing ToolStrips on the ToolStripPanel via the toolbox, the user can just use the property to add/remove (or even edit) them. This is of course similar to how you add/remove/edit TabPages in a TabControl. So, I came up with this code, which I have used successfully in the past for other controls:
Public Class cToolStripPanel Inherits ToolStripPanel Private _ToolStrips As New ToolStripCollection(Me)[CODE]....
The cToolStripPanel control inherits the ToolStripPanel control and adds the ToolStrips property, which is of type ToolStripCollection. That class, in turn, inherits the Collection(Of ToolStrip). In the InsertItem method, I add the 'item' ToolStrip to the cToolStripPanel. Of course I also need to override the RemoveItem / ClearItems methods but that's for another time.I am 100% sure that this code should works, at least for other controls. If you replace ToolStrip with Button (for example), I can add buttons via the property during design-time just fine, exactly the way I want it.But it seems that ToolStrips are special. When I try to Add a toolstrip (via the collection editor Add button), a null reference exception occurs. I've been trying to debug this all day and I've finally come up with a possible candidate for the problem... (I've actually used design-time debugging for the first time ever, which was pretty cool, and which showed me that the InsertItem method is not run!)
I think the problem is that the collection editor cannot create a new instance of the ToolStrip class. I can remember when trying to inherit from the ToolStrip, I was forced to add a constructor, because the ToolStrip "has more than one constructor that can be called with no arguments".Perhaps this is causing my problem? Do I (and if yes, how?) have to somehow control the creation of a new instance of the ToolStrip? Or am I completely off track and that is not what is causing the problem? I'm sure that it's a problem with the ToolStrip class, since I can use the exact same method with other controls just fine. It's only when I change the type to ToolStrip that it starts getting angry at me....
I basically have an application that generates reports in a .html file, I use a .html file for the ease of making tables and formatting text. Now I would like to introduce a way of printing the reports from my program. Because I use a .html file, the formatting would not the correct if I was to print it directly from my application (as far as I know). For this reason, I would like to print it just like my web browser would have in order to keep the tabular data intact and the text formatting.
I'm creating an application which has an scheduler to print and it checks if there is a pending job on the print queue before it prints the next file. I use a timer which checks if there is any file to be printed on my database. Example, the timer ticks and selected 10 files to be printed, it should print the 10 files 1 at a time, if there's no print queue, that's the only time the next file should print. I think another timer is required which will keeps on checking if print queue is done. How will i do this?
