Javascript - TinyMCE Textarea Change Not Recognized By CodeBehind?
Nov 23, 2010I have several <asp:TextBox TextMode="MultiLine"> elements on a page. On load, I populate them (through the VB code behind), and then turn them into TinyMCE editors (through the Query TinyMCE plugin). Each text box also has a button associated with it, with the purpose of submitting the text back to the code behind for insertion into a database.I discovered earlier that when the submit button is clicked, I have to "save" the contents of the editor to the text box, but that is not my problem. Even after I've done so, the edits are not showing up in the code behind.As I've mentioned, I'm using jQuery. Here is my click handler. Keep in mind that all buttons are submit buttons in ASP.NET, hence the submit class:

Jan 24, 2009The project I'm developing at the moment requires RTF (rich text format) support and a full WUSIYUG editor, however I am very short on time so I'd like to consider an alternative. Instead of designing a new interface and creating buttons and toolbars and everything from scratch, I'd like to use WordPad to create the RTF documents and a RichTextBox to show them in-application.My idea was as follows:When the user needs to create a new document (once the document has been created, it will remain read-only), the application would launch WordPad via Process.Start and then it will wait until it exits. I think I can manage it up to here.Next, the user would save the file and the file's location should be sent to the application. If possible, I'd like to be able to retrieve the saved file's location automatically via code, or at least choose the preferred path (the directory which appears first when you save a file).
If retrieval of the saved file's location is not possible, then I was considering using SetCurrentDirectory to set the preferred path to a certain folder, instructing the user to save the file there under any name and then comparing the files in that folder with a previously created list to see which file was added. For obvious reasons, I'd prefer this method to stay a last resort
IDE :: XML Editor Not Working In Studio 2008
Jan 30, 2009I just purchased Visual Studio 2008 Standard edition and the XML editor that I had and loved in Studio 2005 is either not available or not working. If I open up an XML file, it just opens it as a plain text file. Is this a feature that was left out of 2008 or what?

VS 2008 - Text Selection - WYSIWYG Blog Editor ?
Sep 5, 2011I'm working on a WYSIWYG Blog Editor, I'm having an issue with my text selection. I've added a couple of graphics to illustrate. My code is selecting the text and putting it back into the textbox, but it's adding extra text. I can't quite figure out how to get it to select the intended text and manipulate it correctly (make it Bold or Italic and so on,) and then show the text in the two windows (one is the Textbox and the other is a webtext box) correctly.
Below is my code and my 2 graphics.

Every thing works up to the point when I try to manipulate the text, it then puts more text in. I have been trying to find info on how to clear the text box and then re-insert the text with the text formatting. Side note in my graphics is a small graphic that is just there as a marker for me, it has no affect on the actual program.

Oct 28, 2009I am trying to extend the functionality of the ToolStripPanel control (which is a panel hosting ToolStrips that can be moved during design-time, as I'm sure you know).One thing I wanted to add was a 'ToolStrips' property, which would be a collection of ToolStrips the user can edit via the collection editor in the designer. So instead of manually placing ToolStrips on the ToolStripPanel via the toolbox, the user can just use the property to add/remove (or even edit) them. This is of course similar to how you add/remove/edit TabPages in a TabControl.So, I came up with this code, which I have used successfully in the past for other controls:

The cToolStripPanel control inherits the ToolStripPanel control and adds the ToolStrips property, which is of type ToolStripCollection. That class, in turn, inherits the Collection(Of ToolStrip). In the InsertItem method, I add the 'item' ToolStrip to the cToolStripPanel. Of course I also need to override the RemoveItem / ClearItems methods but that's for another time.I am 100% sure that this code should works, at least for other controls. If you replace ToolStrip with Button (for example), I can add buttons via the property during design-time just fine, exactly the way I want it.But it seems that ToolStrips are special. When I try to Add a toolstrip (via the collection editor Add button), a null reference exception occurs. I've been trying to debug this all day and I've finally come up with a possible candidate for the problem... (I've actually used design-time debugging for the first time ever, which was pretty cool, and which showed me that the InsertItem method is not run!)
I think the problem is that the collection editor cannot create a new instance of the ToolStrip class. I can remember when trying to inherit from the ToolStrip, I was forced to add a constructor, because the ToolStrip "has more than one constructor that can be called with no arguments".Perhaps this is causing my problem? Do I (and if yes, how?) have to somehow control the creation of a new instance of the ToolStrip? Or am I completely off track and that is not what is causing the problem? I'm sure that it's a problem with the ToolStrip class, since I can use the exact same method with other controls just fine. It's only when I change the type to ToolStrip that it starts getting angry at me....
Resource File ( Resx ) Editor Not Painting / Rendering In Visual Studio 2008
Jan 18, 2010I have Visual Studio 2008 SP1 installed and lately it is taking longer and longer to bring up a Resource File (.resx) in its standard editor. Some of the file loads up, but you can see that the screen does not paint/render it 100%.I tried doing some searching on the web and the only thing I came across was doing a edit to the GDIProcessHandleQuota registry entry from 10,000 to 20,000. This appeared to work initially, but the problem came back the next day.I am doing an extensive localization project and this is severely limiting the amount of work I get done.

VS 2008 Find And Select Text In Text Editor?
Dec 31, 2009I'm adding a method to find and select text in my text editor. Everything worked fine, including the ability to find all instances of the text. My problem came when I tried to make it more user-friendly (doesn't it always?). Originally I had only a menu item with a shortcut( Ctrl + F) which invoked an input box.
Then I added a textbox and a button (similar to that seen in a web browser's Find() method) that calls the method in the same manner as the Find/Replace menu option and displays the desired text in the textbox. Everything works fine except that the text is not selected. I have MessageBoxes displaying the values of required variables in 3 places (marked ***FOR DEBUG ONLY***) to make sure that no values are being changed, but all variables are the same. The method still locates the text, but it is not highlighted.
I think it could have something to do with which object has focus. (When I click the button, the selected text loses focus?). But if I click everything with the menu items, it still works...
