I don't know really how to link 2 parts of my the transaction part of my vending machine and the restocking bit. Here is the The Restocking bit is basically adding to values from txtbx27 and 13 in the listbox and then showing the final value in the txb27, which i want to link with Transaction part of my code so that its possible to control machine's stock.

I just started doing a semester of Visual Basic in college(australian), our first assignment is to make a vending machine app but so far we've only been taught basic coding such as making time converters and forms. I've tried to ask the teacher for help and she refuses to help us, she tells us its unfair. None of my friends in my class know where to start and everyone else is cheating of the internet. I just want to know how to start making the application. The vending machine must have 6 products with 10 of each, the user must put in 10c, 20c, 50c, 1 dollar and 2 dollars. Everytime the user buys something it must deduct 1. The must also be an admin function.
View 6 RepliesI am currently creating a vending machine program, designed to simulate a vending machine. However I have come across a rather large error, my stock is 50 at the begging. The person can go though the program and the appropiate amount of stock is taken away from the relavent object, however when I finish and want to go back to the start the last selection is still present.Therefore I have tried setting the variable as 0 when the form opens and when the program starts, but the last selection is still present.Does anyone know of a way to which I can reset this calculation without affecting my stock so I can then repeat my program cycle one or two times each time using the previous stock without reseting back to 50

I am making a Vending machine that requires you to logon and then you can purchase things and the purchases are deducted from your balance. The logon information as well as the balance is stored in an access file. I have the logon working well and understand everything except the things dealing with the balance. How can I make it so that when you logon it takes you to the purchase screen and The person you logged on as name and balance are shown on labels. I also don't know how to deal with balance. So when they log on and purchase the amount is detracted from their particular balance.

I have never made a notepad like program just calculators and felt like learning how to link/find the parts to make save, open, format, and some other extras but I have NO code. I can't move on unless I know the parts needed and what the code for one of them is if I can link the save as button on the menu bar to the part needed to save I can figure the rest out besides the format that it saves in.

I am fine to get the path from the first xml document and fine to parse the subsequent documents.Where I am struggling is implementing the path. It is being stored using system level variables like:
%appdata%my_appconfig
When I try open the file like this:
xmlConfig.Load(userConfigFile)
It tries to start in the application working directory - assume c:emp So the error message I get is:
Could not find a part of the path 'C:emp\%appdata%my_appconfighive.machine.xml'.
Is there a way I can use this pathing structure in my VB code or determine the actual fully qualified path programatically?

I get this error at the Commit of a transaction in a desktop application:

Other posts I have seen with similar error suggests this can occur if it takes a long time, or contains large amounts of data. This is not the case here.Logging tells me it takes 140 ms from Begin to Commit and about 10 commands executed inside the transaction.It is using an Oracle database.This class is a simplified version of my database class:

Is it not allowed to run a select inside a transaction like this? Or can it be done by running the transaction in a specific isolation level (I see that the BeginTransaction method has an optional parameter for doing this) ? ..Or some other sollution..? In my case, it was not a problem to move the select to run before the transaction started, but what if you need to run selects that must run inside the transaction?

So what I want is to have a listview with items in the middle. Say
Green
Blue
Orange
And then on either side of those I want the default to be 1's, like on the image. And then I want to be able to press < or > when I have say Green selected and press - or + and it will increment the numbers. Like the second part of the image when the < is 1 and the > is 0.
I have a program which uses TcpClient, the issue I'm having is how do I construct the packets when some of them come in seperate parts. For example, If I receive 5 packets, 2 of them are fine, but the other 3 have come in seperate parts when it's suppose to be a whole packet. How can I handle this?

Im trying to write a program that displays the content of folders to show files and directories using a treeview with images. I have acheived this and the code is below but what i would like to do is to remove all unwanted parts of archives.Display Example.rar and remove Example.rar, Example.r00, Example.r01 or Display Example.rar and remove Example#Part1.rar, Example#Part2.rar
The reason why i am trying to do this is because i am looking to set a loop that will copy or extract files in certain directories but the problem is with partial files is that full extractions are done to each individual part. Say for example there is 10 files to one archive, the extraction is repeated 10 times, for 20 files, 20 full extractions and so on

View 12 RepliesFirst, a little background (greatly simplified): I have two classes, one called Entity and one called Item which a subclass of Entity. They each store their individual properties in seperate SQL 2008 tables using TableAdapters generated by a strongly typed DataSet. The Entity class has a Save() method that looks like this:

Indeed, the SQL table does not contain a row in the Entity table with the necessary ID at this point because the transaction is not complete.
My goal is to prevent the Entity record from being inserted if inserting the Item record fails. I could write code to delete the Entity record again, but this does not seem very elegant to me...
im making an application in vb.net (duh!) anyway i have created and coded the whole project and it performs exactly as i want it to (i dont need code help). my problem lies with the fact that my project is 2-3 parts
1.a setup form that gathers inital data about the enviroment stores this data encrypted in a config file. after inital setup this form is not displayed again. but needs to be run on both computers
2. the second form is the real application form im in the process of turning this part in to a background service anyway this form is the one that establishes the connection between two nodes it works correctly
3. the config files
anyway here is my problem i want to make this application distributional with just one file the (.exe) and have this .exe make everything else happen. it runs the setup form and creates the first config file which it does then it needs to produce a copy of just the second form and the config file to transfer to workstation #2 that will run independtly without the whole application which i cant make happen then it needs to turn both workstations application on by only starting one on either computer and invoke the other computer to start its corrosponding app also no idea how to make this happen any ideas or suggestions as to where to look to try to find my answers.im thinking i might need to make two seperate applications (a setup app, and the running app) and include them both in a project and use the setup.exe to to package them together this is a little side project that im making for my self to use to make programming a little easier so i plan on giving it out to some fellow students to test and tell me what they think so im not really worried about ease of use or complicated procedures yet but if it turns out to work and actually be of use to anyone else i would be willing to rewrite it to distribute to the masses but for now i just want it to work for me.
