Link/find The Parts To Make Save, Open, Format, And Some Other Extras But Have NO Code?
Mar 24, 2009
I have never made a notepad like program just calculators and felt like learning how to link/find the parts to make save, open, format, and some other extras but I have NO code. I can't move on unless I know the parts needed and what the code for one of them is if I can link the save as button on the menu bar to the part needed to save I can figure the rest out besides the format that it saves in.
My problem is this: As you can see from the image, Those two boxes will be where the user will enter in a first and last name, and that will be added into the address where x1namex and x2namex are. How can I make Visual Basic make the url and then immediately show it on the web browser (shown to the right of the two input boxes.)?
I've tried to incorporate this code in my app and can't figure out what the missing link is? Lotsa experimenting and head scratching later, I'm coming here to the forum for help. The dialog opens and allows me to select the file saved earlier, except the file doesn't open. I can't figure out the missing code which goes at the comment "insert code to read stream here." The code:
[code]...
does it have something to do with StreamReader.IO ?
i want to open dds files using vb.net i know file format of dds..can some give me tutorial or a link to tutorial on how to declare file formats and then open and save them edit any format.
I have a form with a webbrowser control on it, and I load up a local file in it with some code for a rotating banner (so I can support my app with advertising). The problem I'm having is, it is for example, a banner ad in the small banner sized control, when the user click's it, it loads the new page within the same control, which is way too small.I'd like for any click in the control to load up the link in IE itself, outside of my app. Putting target=_blank so far hasn't helped. Below is the code that I am loading up in my control.

<!--//
I don't know really how to link 2 parts of my the transaction part of my vending machine and the restocking bit. Here is the The Restocking bit is basically adding to values from txtbx27 and 13 in the listbox and then showing the final value in the txb27, which i want to link with Transaction part of my code so that its possible to control machine's stock.
This is probably a pretty novice design question. I'm trying to work my way through a number of requirements and give the users the experience they're looking for.I've written a tool that does big calcluation-type things. It currently consists of a class library and command line tool (separate .NET projects.) We're using an Access database format as the file type because it can keep all the various tables together in one file. A few other items about the application: There are not many users. There are no concerns with scalability. There are not great concerns with updates. Desktop is desired. Not web.Using VB and .NET 3.5 SP1
I now need to develop a GUI front end that will allow typical File/Open and File/Save type operations.Users expect that they can open a file, edit it some, then either choose to save it or close it unsaved without any changes being written back to the file. Saving it would obviously save all changes affecting all tables back to the file.
Does it then make sense to use a temp file for something like a proxy then? To, when a user "opens" a file, copy the source Access file to a local temp file and then use that for the editing session? Then, if the user "saves", copy the local temp file back to the source path?
Update: [tagged with ms-access tag too] Also, I omitted the fact that users would expect typical File / Save As functionality too. I think the design I've put in question in this post is what is traditionally called the Proxy design pattern. Has anyone tried this (successfully!) with Access database files before? Words of caution or advice?
I'm trying to find where this code might be leaving old connections open, and I found this code that might be the cullprit. It is in a function. I'm wondering if this connection would close, if an exception occured from within the USING statement?
I am very much a beginner to VB.net and I'm still flicking through tutorials, learning basic stuff however I need to make a program fast and need help with it. I need to know how to make the form open a game save, whether that be for PC, Xbox or anything else.
ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source='" + fileName + "'; Extended Properties=Excel 5.0" Dim ExcelConnection As System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection ExcelConnection = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(ConnectionString)
Error occurs on line ExcelConnection.Open()External table is not in the expected format.

to a readable format. I understand that this can be easily accomplished by writing in the ascii code into the code will do it but I am trying to create a more interactive method of doing it so I can copy and paste a long length of code into a textbox and have it update a label with the conversion.
im trying to make an application which on start ask the user to browse for a .lnk file Once the lnk file has been browsed, the application is shown and there are two buttons
1.Launch
2.Exit
When The Launch Button Is Clicked,The .lnk File which the user browsed to at application startup should open. On exit, well it just exits the application! and the openfiledialog should pop up only for the first time the user ever opens the application.the file path should be stored in a .txt or .ini or registry file so that next time he doesnt have to browse for it again..how would i go about doing this! Here is my code so far! I'm trying to make a Doctor's program where the doctor has to enter the patients detail into several text boxes (Name, Age, Address...). So, after he has entered all the information, he would want to save it somehow so he could open up the information again. How would i do that. I thought it could be saved in a database, or even in a text file.
I'm using visual basic 2010 express..I'm building my own web browser and want to add a download manager.I have been able to build one that will download a file if I type the file location into a text box. What I'm trying to figure out is how to have the download manager open when I click on a download link on a web page. How to make the download manager know it is a link to a downloadable file as opposed to something like a link to another webpage?
However, I would like to be able to call the *javascript:parent.__doPostBack('Close','')* method from the code-behind file rather than the user clicking the link. I.e., when I have completed my tasks in the application code, call parent.doPostBack as my last function call, which closes the window in question.
I want to build a phonebook application, with some extras. My problem is that I don't know which is the best file to save my data.I started with binary, but I wonder if there is good search capability in these files.Which do you think I should use?
My Visual studio crashes every time I open a specific project, because before closing VS2010 last, I forgot to close a .vb file that I had drug to my second monitor. The issue is likely related to floating tab wells in the VS Productivity Power Tools extension.now when I try to load the solution it will progress part way, but when it tries to reopen the documents that had previously been open, it crashes hard.anyway, I am trying to find out where VS stores info about the code documents that were open at last project close, so I can clear it out.does anyone know where VS stores info about the previously opened code documents? I've checked the project and solution files but neither appears to hold this info. I know that the location must be within the project however, since getting a new version of the codebase from source control corrects the issue (but I still have code to check in...)
I`m making a program.I`d like to know how to make a code which will navigate to my website and find if there's a newer version of my launcher..I`ll search some codes now, If I find some interesting codes i`ll post here so u can upgrade or tell me how to correctly use them for my auto-update.I cannot publish my Launcher unless I`ve an Auto-Update in my Launcher.
I am wanting to make it so when you push a button, it will save the code in the RichTextBox as a Batch file.I want it to bring up the menu like it does when you hit save as.Here is what i have so far:
Private Sub Button7_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button7.Click With SaveFileDialog1 .Title = "Save File" .Filter = "Batch Files | *.bat"
Once I set the form to be a MDI Container, it seems to just ignore that function.
On my MDI Container form I have a menu and that is the only thing I want displayed. I want the container itself to be transparent. The forms that get loaded into the mdicontainer will be shown normal.
