Currently I have been using mysql connectors to send and retreive information from my database. Someone suggested that a web service (wdsl? etc) would be a more efficient way of sending information both ways.
View 9 RepliesSeveral times av been come across of the need of how to create new variables on my application while is running and the next time i will run again the application to be existed in my source code and still be inside.
what excatly i mean is for example i have a listbox with out assigne it in any databound ,or retreive any items from any textbox i just want to insert some items inside
if i go from the designer then i can succesfully add any item i want and they will be there as i declare them.but if i want to to that programmatically i will be able to add them in the listbox but the next time i will run it again it will be lost.until i will select the command again to fill my listbox which is not what i want
in my case i have a datagridview which is running SQL querys and i want if the user selects to save this query i want from some way to save this query string in my listbox . and i want to be there the next time i will run my application with out using any text file or database,
is there any way to that ? i have search before i ask but obviusly my keywords dosen't much with what i was looking for

I am trying to pass some information from a VB form to my MySQL database. i have named all the textbox's the same as the field in the database and checked all my database fields and textbox names which are all correct. When i try to enter information into a form I sometimes get an error at the .executeNonQuery section of the code.
To test, I outputted the SQLStatement string to a textbox ( which pulled through all the fields from the textboxes correctly) then manually inputted the completed SQL query into the database and it worked. But when I try to do this in one go it seems to fail if there is too much text ( if i enter 'a' into each field it works). Are they limits to the size of the SQL query that can be passed from VB?? all the MySql database fields are set to text with no size limits.

View 4 RepliesI have a fair bit of experience with VB.NET and C# (In this case I chose VB.NET, blame my laziness), but I do most of my professional work using PHP. I have no experience what so ever in using any database with VB.NET let alone MySQL.Just FYI, at the moment I am only trying to Query the database to gather the information required to activate. So, here goes nothing, this is the Query code I am using in PHP to complete the job I want to do in VB.NET. [code] As you can see, I basically need to get the PHP code into VB.NET to fit into the 'btnQueryDB.Click' Command in VB.NET. By Equivalent, the Product ID in VB.NET will come from 'txtPID' and similar, Serial Number will come from txtSNUM. Once counted to be 1, the Activation Code and Status will be fed into 2 other text boxes in the form. (acCode, and acStatus).
At moment iam trying to fetch some data out of a mysql database.hope i can explain well what i try to do.Okay i made a form with some text field and a combobox.What i want is at start when the form loads that all the last name will get catcht out of the mysql database. all those last names should go in the combobox.now i have a few textboxes like adress phone number living place go onWhat i try to do now is when all those lastnames are in the combo box when i select a nameand press the button to update that it will catch the info from that user out of the mysql database and puts the info in the right textfields.What i got so far is a succesfull connection to the mysql database.

I have determined thanks to the last q & a that there is something wrong with my "save to db" code as well as my "retrieve to picture" code. Even If I manually save the pic in the db it stil wont retreive. This is code i patched together from 3 or 4 examples around the net.

The program is currently trying to pull information from three different database tables and compiling the information onto one screen, to do this i am using three different connections and a function to handle the data at each stage. The issue is as my code hits PageLoadStage of "2" and runs the QueryDatabase() Function i am encountering an error of: "OleDB exception unhandled: No value given for one or more of the required parameters." This occurs on line 15 of the first code snippet. Can anyone explain this and/or identify any code issues if that is the cause.
