Network Request Timeout If It Takes Too Long?
Feb 18, 2010I've been using VB for exactly a week today and for that past 4 hours I've been pulling my hair out! My problem is that our software can only run on one PC on a site, if two instances are running they cause issues. So instead of checking each PC individually I created a program with VB to do this (and other tasks) for me. The problem with the network search is that if I cannot access a remote PC (usually access is denied) then it hangs for a long time before moving on to the next. Can I introduce a timeout feature where the program tries to access the c drive but if it does this for more than 5 seconds and gets nowhere then it moves on? [code]'testcpath' is \pcnamec$ and the other two paths look for the software I'd need to remove if found. So basically, if I have access to every c drive it works fine and completes within a few minutes. If I don't have access to even a small amount then it takes an absolute age.

Jun 16, 2012I am trying to make file transfer program in vb.net 2008 for big files eg. 10 GB.i was able to code simple socket program to transfer files with small size by using Sockets but if the file is large then "File.ReadAllBytes(ComboBox1.Text)" command will not work cause it use lot of memory & if the file is really big i.e. 10 GB it give not enough memory error, so i made a loop that sends data in small amounts, but this give me a larger file size with repeated data at end of the file.

Feb 25, 2010I am sending xmlhttp request to a web server with parameter, and wait for the response before I send another request. About 98% the application is working fine, except if the internet speed became suddenly slow or there is a delay from the web server i am dealing with.

Oct 15, 2010This seems really simple, but for some reason Im stumped.Im dynamically generating an HTML Select Box, lets call it myselect. Im creating this select box based on some database values Im generating an HTML Select Box.. almost like a string that Im just spitting out to the page. So it's never a control in the codebehind, just part of a string thats rendered as HTML by the browser. If I submit my form, and in my codebehind I perform:
Dim myVal as String = Request.Form("myselect")
That code will give me the VALUE of the myselect select box. How can I refer to this control to cast it as a System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlSelect control? Request.Form seems to give me the value, but I want to reference the object itself..

Dec 28, 2011I have been programming in VB6 for a while now and am gradually trying to get to grips with .Net (VB 2005)I am tryng to transfer some of my programs from VB6 to .Net with some success but have got a little stuck on trying to transfer what was a control array to .neto try to sort this i have set up a form in VB6 with 4 Vscroll bars and 4 Text boxes.Vscroll1(*) & Text1(*) where * is 0-4when you change the value in any scroll bar then the associated text box value changes.

Asp.net - Get User Control Property After Server Transfer?
Apr 14, 2011I have a host page with multiple user controls in it. Some of these controls have a user created property named Enabled, and is boolean.In some controls the default value for Enabled is set to False. In the host page, I am able to access the property and set it to True. The control does what it is supposed to.On this host page there is a "Run Report" button which executes a Server.Transfer to a "Results" page.In the codebehind of the results page, control values from the PreviousPage are checked via other user created Properties for the controls and added to a ParamterList.
I am attempting to check the Enabled property of the controls on the PreviousPage, however when this is done, it appears that the Enabled property is set to that of the default (in this case False), and not what I had set it to on the page when it loaded.Does the value of this property need to be put into a hidden text box or something so its value is available after the ServerTransfer? It seems like any control which contains a value is retrievable via the PreviousPage and its user created property, but any variable set inside of the control is reset back to its default value.
