Developing Multi-part Projects Which Can Be Connected Together For Additional Functionality?

I'm in the process of developing a database project which will consist of 3 applications, which can be used on their own. The user may choose to purchase just one of the applications, but when the others are used I'd like to have additional functions enabled.My question is what is the best method of developing multi-part projects which can be connected together for additional functionality?

adding certain functionality to an existing ASP.NET application running on IIS 6.0 programmed in VB.NET.To aid in future development the client wants the additional functionality to be as future proof as possible. Ideally i have said that I would like to push for a solution using ASP.NET MVC3, running off IIs 7.5 and .NET 4, written in C#. This solution would act as a seemless addition to the current web-portal appearing probably just as an extra tabbed page.
But they will be completely seperate web-apps. Which is crucial.The main problems i can forsee are firstly sharing session particulars between the asp.net web app and the new application. Particularly with regard to maintaining session state (and not having IIS timing out on one of the apps). Also, conjoining the two "apps" appears problematic in my head, although this may be far simpler than i fear.
1) Embed the new fuctionality into the existing codebase (not a great option). This would mean losing any potential future upgrade-ability and also means not following better OO conventions by utilising the MVC framework.
2) Using an iFrame to link to the razor pages of a seperate MVC3 app (the one im favouring currently). Allows uses of all new technologies, however downside is sharing session data. Either through iFrame "attributes" through persisting a session state to a db? (slow?) or even some kind of web service interaction between the applications to push/pull user/session data?

im making an application in vb.net (duh!) anyway i have created and coded the whole project and it performs exactly as i want it to (i dont need code help). my problem lies with the fact that my project is 2-3 parts
1.a setup form that gathers inital data about the enviroment stores this data encrypted in a config file. after inital setup this form is not displayed again. but needs to be run on both computers
2. the second form is the real application form im in the process of turning this part in to a background service anyway this form is the one that establishes the connection between two nodes it works correctly
3. the config files
anyway here is my problem i want to make this application distributional with just one file the (.exe) and have this .exe make everything else happen. it runs the setup form and creates the first config file which it does then it needs to produce a copy of just the second form and the config file to transfer to workstation #2 that will run independtly without the whole application which i cant make happen then it needs to turn both workstations application on by only starting one on either computer and invoke the other computer to start its corrosponding app also no idea how to make this happen any ideas or suggestions as to where to look to try to find my answers.im thinking i might need to make two seperate applications (a setup app, and the running app) and include them both in a project and use the setup.exe to to package them together this is a little side project that im making for my self to use to make programming a little easier so i plan on giving it out to some fellow students to test and tell me what they think so im not really worried about ease of use or complicated procedures yet but if it turns out to work and actually be of use to anyone else i would be willing to rewrite it to distribute to the masses but for now i just want it to work for me.

I'm trying to create a "wrapper" DLL to provide additional functionality on top of an existing DLL. Here's what I'm doing, it may be the wrong approach.The existing DLL is basically a .net version of WinSock. It has lots of public methods and events.The DLL I'm trying to create will provide specific file processing methods, and notification events, which will then utilize the WinSock DLL totransfer the files. This wrapper Dll is intended to encapsulate all of DLL #1 methods and events.
So what I'm doing is having my new DLL reference the existing one, and create a new set of events, some of which get raised by handling DLL #1 events.So I end up with two DLLs, one of which is dependent upon the other. When I try to use my DLLS in a Forms app,I am able to use my wrapper to call methods in the WinSock DLL. Some events that are raised within my wrapper are properly handled by the forms app.The events that do not work (get raised) are the ones which are raised by handling the other DLL's events.This seems to be because the WinSock DLL's events never get raised, when they apparently should be. The WinSock object in question was declared as "WithEvents".

I have a line of data that represent a data import. When the import is done, I would like to keep that exsisiting line, and add another line for the next import. So I have a display of mulitiple lines, showing multiple Imports.So this is one I have for the first section, it loops through the data so you see the rows incrementing
TextBox1.Text = clsDatRow.iFirstVal.ToString + " ROWS:" + iCountRows.ToString + " " + Date.Now.ToString
TextBox1.Refresh()
Now, I can I keep the line of data, and add a new line so for the next import, it does the same thing. It ried vbnewline, but it just clears that line, it doesn't move down to a next line.

I'm about to start a new project and want some advice on how to implement.I need a web application which contains a booking module for reserving timeslots, and a time management module which will enable employees to clock in / clock out.
If I am writing an update to the time managment module, I don't want to disrupt the booking engine availability by releasing a new solution containing both modules.to make things more difficult, there is some shared functionality like common users, roles and security.Here's a suggestion I've gotten, which sounds a bit cruddy, but may be functional.Write a 'container' web application which consists of basically a frame, and authentication / security features. I have a small program that is used for managing media libraries for some software front-ends. Basically, it reads in the files of a directory and, one-by-one, creates a new directory by each file name and moves the respective file into the new folder.Everything works well, but I am wanting to extend the functionality a bit.I would like to include multi-part file detection so that titles that are named as such:
movie-disc1.avi
movie-disc2.avi
would be moved into a single folder named movie. The files would not be renamed.As of now, I simply have an option that will allow the user to ignore certain files that match a regex pattern:

On my program I am trying to make a ToolStripStatusLabel's text change to "connected" if connected to a network and if not connected to a network change the text to " Not Connected" then I don't know how to display a image if connected to a network or not connected. So if the computer is connected to a network I have a image that I would like to be displayed next to the ToolStripStatusLabel. And if not connected to a network, can the program display a different image? I tried this:

I'm adding multi-threading facilities for the first time. I have a function that is wrapped to be run in a separated thread. This function retrieves data (text) from a combobox and it works for sure without multi-threading.
When I call it as multi-threaded, I get the following error when I try to retrieve the data from the cmobobox: Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'cmb1stBL' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.
It looks like a restriction of thread-safety... I assume that the child thread cannot read from his parent, to make sure that he doesn't change his parent data. So how can I read the data from the combobox? Should I read the comoboxbox data before calling the child thread?

my requirement is that i have to count occurrence of a certain date and between two months
suppose i have 10-jan-2012 now i have a date range 1-jan-2012 between 1-feb-2013 my requirement is that if i find 10-jan between 1-jan-2012 between 1-feb-2013 irrespective of year i know that 10-jan will come twice between 1-jan-2012 between 1-feb-2013 i am not understanding how to do this.i meanto say that i have to compare only day and month part of the date which will solve my problem

I have a parent/child relation I am trying to create fow 2 datasets.The parent ds consusts of a range of PO Header information
After I fill this dataset I loop through it getting the PO number. I then take that value and execute another sql statement on the DETAIL file and fill a dataset(dtlDS) for EACH row in the parent. How do I add to this dtlDS for each row? I am getting no CHILD data in the merge. Should I be filling to a datatable and do an add.row and THEN dump into the dtlDS?

Im trying to get a sales percentage program to work and im having trouble on the last part. My homework is to get the original price from the customer and then take the sales percentage off and show how much it is. Then after the first percentage is off take an additional percentage off part and then show the grand total. I got all the way up to the additional percentage off part to work right. I dont understand why I cant add an additional percentage of and the program wont recognize it and work right.

So, I'm currently working on sending and receiving data via a serial port. In order to use readline, I need to send vbCrLf, which is fine. I'm trying to get it to display just the characters sent and not the additional characters like Cr and Lf. Here's the most basic part of my

We have a big Form class that we like to split into peaces using partial class approach That could be done by manually modifying a project file, and adding MainFormPN.vb entry

The issue with this approach is when double click on this item in VS2008 IDE it shows new empty form, not MainForm UI. It looks like VS2008 does not support multiple partial classes for a Forms.

I am using a webbrowser control and loading a website that uses basic authentication. I pass the username and password in the additional header of the navigate routine. The problem is that the header is not retained while navigating the site.
I.E.I log into the site and pass the user name and password in the http header. When I click a link to access another page the header is removed and the site asks for credentials. If I was to just type the site into IE and log in the first time the headers are carried forward on all pages. how I can have the page retain the headers so the user never has to authenticate?

I need to add an additional dimesion to outputArrayOfBits() in the code below which I hope conveys my intention. I need to convert a one dimensional array of 1 to n boolean (bit) values into arrays that group them by 8's so the output can be consumed by someone needing these values to be in hex format (0000 1111) = 0F How do I change the declaration of 'outputArrayOfBits and the nested control loop to achieve that?

I'm am very new to Vb.net, I have coded in VBA.I have created a form that will open Microsoft Excel, add header text to the columns, and insert the text from a few of the controls located on my form ("not finished adding controls") when I click the Submit button.

I've got 2 data tables.
tblComponents - CompID (keyed), Name, PartNo
tblProductComponents - ProductID (keyed), CompID(keyed), PercentValue
I want to show tblProductComponents and have only the PercentValue the only value that can be updated. But, I also want to show the component information as well.I can do this in a view but then I lose the update ability using the tableadapter.

I am looking for a way to obtain some additional features on a treeview. Both, to show as to be able to input some data with a particular hierarchical structure For that on each node I need next to the nodetext a entrypossibility to input some data or to make a selection. This input possibility should be either a textbox, a combobox or a chechbox.
