Loops And Regex - Include Multi-part File Detection?
Jun 17, 2010
I have a small program that is used for managing media libraries for some software front-ends. Basically, it reads in the files of a directory and, one-by-one, creates a new directory by each file name and moves the respective file into the new folder.Everything works well, but I am wanting to extend the functionality a bit.I would like to include multi-part file detection so that titles that are named as such:
movie-disc1.avi
movie-disc2.avi
would be moved into a single folder named movie. The files would not be renamed. As of now, I simply have an option that will allow the user to ignore certain files that match a regex pattern:
Dim m As Match = Regex.Match(IO.Path.GetFileName(filePath), "(.*?)([ _.-]*(?:cd|dvd|p(?:ar)?t|dis[ck]|d)[ _.-]*[0-9]+)(.*?)(.[^.]+)$")
im making an application in vb.net (duh!) anyway i have created and coded the whole project and it performs exactly as i want it to (i dont need code help). my problem lies with the fact that my project is 2-3 parts
1.a setup form that gathers inital data about the enviroment stores this data encrypted in a config file. after inital setup this form is not displayed again. but needs to be run on both computers
2. the second form is the real application form im in the process of turning this part in to a background service anyway this form is the one that establishes the connection between two nodes it works correctly
3. the config files
anyway here is my problem i want to make this application distributional with just one file the (.exe) and have this .exe make everything else happen. it runs the setup form and creates the first config file which it does then it needs to produce a copy of just the second form and the config file to transfer to workstation #2 that will run independtly without the whole application which i cant make happen then it needs to turn both workstations application on by only starting one on either computer and invoke the other computer to start its corrosponding app also no idea how to make this happen any ideas or suggestions as to where to look to try to find my answers.im thinking i might need to make two seperate applications (a setup app, and the running app) and include them both in a project and use the setup.exe to to package them together this is a little side project that im making for my self to use to make programming a little easier so i plan on giving it out to some fellow students to test and tell me what they think so im not really worried about ease of use or complicated procedures yet but if it turns out to work and actually be of use to anyone else i would be willing to rewrite it to distribute to the masses but for now i just want it to work for me.
It is my previous problem in vb6, its hard to multithread using vb6 so I migrate my codes to vb.Net.How can I multithread this two loops so that this process is running at the same time.Because when I start my second Loop, my first loop stop in executing. It will start again when my 2nd loop finished.

I have 2 connected GSM Modem in usb port. That codes will send SMS in all contacts in my ListBox.
I would like to have a only part of a string... I have a string[URL] and i want only the part thats past the last / so i would actualy get only "file.part4.rar"I know that this can be done through Regex, But I have never used that, and I read the documentation on it, but I do not understand the part of...
Dim rx As New Regex("^-?d+(.d{2})?$")
What dose each of those characters do and how dose it effect the output...
blah blah blah Version V3.5/7(030114) blah blah blah blah
I'd like to parse out the Version V3.5/7(030114) part using a Regex or Substring, but not sure how. The surrounding text could be dynamic in length and the 6 numbers between the parenthesis could be a different length as well (maybe 4).
I am working on an application in Visual Basic Express using an Access 2000 database.I am trying to get athe following SQL query to work but get an error in Access.
The query is:
SELECT [ID], [Title], [Author], [Series], [YearPublished], [ISBN], [CoverPrice], [Style], [Condition], [Signed], [Comments], Count([Title]) AS CountOfBooks, Sum([CoverPrice]) AS TotalCoverPrice FROM tblBooks WHERE ID=[@ID];
The error is:"You have tried to execute a query that does not include the spec ified expression 'ID' as a part of the aggragate function."
The query works fine without the 'Count' and 'CoverPrice' count and sum to the query.
I have to match string like "DAY1","DAY2","DAY3"....."DAY31" with regex in vb.net. I tried something like this - ^?DAY(0[1-9]|[12][0-9]|3[01])$ but it did not work.
The pattern should have succesfull match if the source string is either DAY1 or DAY2 or DAY3 to DAY31 like so.
I'm in the process of developing a database project which will consist of 3 applications, which can be used on their own. The user may choose to purchase just one of the applications, but when the others are used I'd like to have additional functions enabled. My question is what is the best method of developing multi-part projects which can be connected together for additional functionality?
I noticed that in order for the e-mail address to validate, I need to put in at least 3 characters before the @ symbol. Is this a requirement? What if I just want to have an e-mail address with 1 or 2 characters before the @ symbol?
the purpose of the program is to display the monthly payments on the loan.My homework is to use do while loops instead of for loop. Here is the code for the for loop.
Option Explicit On Option Strict On Option Infer Off
[code].....
Now I'm having some trouble displaying the output using the do while loop, and I'm pretty sure it's a loop problem on my code. However, I cannot seemed to find out what's wrong. I looked at the examples of do while loop in my textbook, but I couldn't find anything useful to my problems of my program. This is the output for the do while loop.
Here's the do while loop code
Option Explicit On Option Strict On Option Infer Off
The first problem i am having is locating a file in a folder, i am using FolderBrowserDialog to select the working folder but the program needs to be able to detect if it is a Windows XP SP3 source. The File i want to detect is WIN51IP.Sp3 and after hours of searching and trying different methods i am still no closer.below is the first part of the code, the browse folder part.
Imports System Imports System.IO Public Class Main
When I use a For loop in a For loop the Contains Statement dosen't work! Even my custom one! I even tested mine and it works 100% And neither that or the String.Contains function work inside of For Loops And, I know both of them use loops to search through a string.
My function(It will atleast search once):
Function RealContains(ByVal load As String, ByVal needle As String) As Boolean load = load.ToLower
Anyways, i have coded a video downloaded and i want to include a converter as a separate exe file. But obviously people may have different file directories so a simple piece of code i have used won't work. This is what i have: Also where would i place the exe file?
So I'm in the final stages of finishing a program I've been working on for nearly a year now, and this is basically my final hurdle. The Save dialogue is working beautifully, with 'flags' in order to switch it over from the regular input into text boxes to the Listbox input protocol.
However, I'm having a *** of a time getting it to take lines from the text file and put them in the proper text box. Here is an example file:
Quote:
SHOWNAME CALLNAME BREED
[Code]....
So with the sample file I provided above, in the textbox named callNameText would appear "SHOWNAME", and so on and so forth. With this build, I get a NullReferenceException on the "Me.Controls(strboxNames(i)).Text() = strAllText(ati)" line.
I am trying to use the filetbl function to include a letterhead.rtf file into a letter.rtf file.Unfortunately, the Microsoft (and other) docs on the 'net are less than intuitive in regard to filetabl and I can find no examples anywhere on the use of this function

I have a call to the mediaPlayer in my project (to play a wav file). While publishing the project, vb.net does not include this wav file to the applications file and while intalling this wav file is missing. Hence I need to copy it manually. How can I make vb.net include this wav file in the installation?
I need to Include a .js in my webusercontrol,I don't know if I am doing it right.
I've been looking and found some things but not agood solid example that I can use as a test against what I havein my app.
What I actually need is code to put in my app to test against,I don't have anything to make sure that my path is right, if Ihad code and .js file that I code put in the same directory I am usingthat would be best.
I have an application that uses some external files. When a button is clicked, it opens 2 excel files and writes to one text file. When I publish this, it does not include those files. How can I make it include those files in the final solution. I have added them into my solution explorer under different folder names but they are not there.
G'day all, I need to read a text string from a file, then convert it to an enumeration, based on a list of enumerations that is contained in a .h file located elsewhere. The .h file consists of about 300 lines that look like: [Code] This results in 2 problems, can I include the .h file in my VB program, and if so, how? And then, once I read in the string, how to make the program convert it to the corresponding enumeration for output?
I have made a program that uses the MySQL Connector DLL file. Now if I wan't to give my program to my friend, how do I include the dll file?Shall I move it to the same folder as the program exe? In that case, shall I change the reference to the dll in the EXE folder?
