I'm working on a Bingo game that generates a random letter and number.

Dim randnumber = RandN.Next(1, 30)
Dim RandL As New Random()
Dim randletter = RandL.Next(1, 5)
All that works, but I'd like it not to repeat a combination. Any tips on how to do that?
Also the random numbers tend to be repetitive and the random letter is never 5. I think the random number has been 30 before but I can't be sure. Is there a way to fix that or just a better way to do the random numbers?

I am writing a program for a class on visual basic and i have a listbox that displays 15 random numbers using an array. Then there are 2 buttons(max and min) that when clicked displays the largest number in the list and the smallest. how do i get these buttons to do this?

My teacher wants us to make the passwords vary in length, include numbers, letters and upper case letters. I've been able to write code that prints out a random string but it includes unrecognized characters for most passwords. How would I write the code to create a random string that has parameters? (in this case upper case lower case letters and numbers).

Ok im making a program that throws three dice at once. Several results end with a score but a few result in a no score. in the case of a no score (Example: the dice land on 4,1,6) i want the dice to be thrown again. I am writing a matching program, and need 24 objects to randomly appear, each twice, across 48 spaces. I figured the best way for me to do this would be to assign the positions a number 1 through 48. but the problem is I can't find a way to generate a random number sequence in visual basic 9 .netI found many examples in visual basic .net but the conversion doesn't work. If not some code, many some example programs that either use a random number sequence or randomly sets the position of objects.

The batch section should generate a new random value and write it every time it do the loop, but...It is repeating values. There are more than one line with the same value. What I'm doing wrong?
I have an array that hold 6 random number, then this numbers are sorted from smallest to highest. My question is: How would I go about replacing any repeating numbers with a different random number. I.e. 1 3 7 2 2 9 is sorted into 1 2 2 3 7 9, but I would like to see one of the 2's replaces with a different number (that it is not currently in the array).
I have no code for this part - but the code for making the random number, storing them and sorting them works fine.

I'm trying to make a "guess the musical interval" game, which will play two separate random audio files in succession.So far, I've got it doing that quite well. Here's my issue:I have a list of check-boxes listing off the different intervals that I want potentially hear when I click btnPlay. i.e., if every musical interval's checkbox is checked, I want it to potentially play any interval (unison - octave). Easy.However, if I uncheck "unison" I want my random number x to be not equal to my random number y (x <> y)If I uncheck minor 2nd, I want random number x and random number y to never be 1 number apart (x - y <> 1)?

The program must generate 6 unique random numbers but when I click display numbers sometimes it gives me 6 unique numbers and sometimes I get duplicate numbers. I will add the code I have so far.

I have a program with two forms, one that handles the applications controls, and the other with the functions that open a file (csv), open a database, and query the database. The controls on the first form are a list box, three labels (to display parsed csv information), and three buttons (clear database, load database from csv, and load listbox).
The clear database and load database buttons (events) seem to function correctly.On the other hand, the load list box event doesn't function 100% the way I'd want. [And, I can't test the selected index event yet]

I don't take programming lessons at school or anything, and I'm starting to (try to) teach myself about random things.Currently I'm making an app that has 3 functions:
-Random Integer (1 to 100)
-Random Answer (Yes or No, similar to a coin flip)
-Random Dice Roll (1 to 6)
How would I go about doing this?At the moment all I know about random numbers etc. is that I will need to do something along the lines of Dim dice As New Random or something like that, but, like I mentioned, I have no idea.I am well aware of the DIC rules that you won't write the code for me/do my "homework(?)" for me, and that's not what I'm asking.
Basically, I want to divide two numbers together and they should be 2 random numbers from 1-12 (I have done that part) but, the answer should be a whole number (i.e. Integer, so no decimal points etc) So, I did the following:

but the problem here is that the program crashes after only a few clicks on the button. So I guess the question is: How can I make the program generate two numbers (from 1-12) that when divided become a whole number?(Is there any code that may tell the random generator that I want the numbers to be even?-so all even numbers from 1-12?)
I'm using VB08. I've populated a listbox with numbers and I want to add all those numbers together and display the result in a Label. I've heard about using parse but I don't understand exactly how it works.

When I run it, nothing happens. My "For Each" statement I'm not sure if it's doing what I think it's doing. I can't believe I spent 6 hours banging my head against the wall but I finally got it figured out.
