I just added a reference to Excel interop in my VB.net project, but when I call new WorkBook it fails with an error:Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {00020819-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80040154.Do I need to regsvr32 a .dll or use dependency walker to find the problem? When I look in the registration database for that CLSID is points to Office 2010 which I have installed.[code]
I am trying to make sense of the return codes when I try to register and unregister COM objects - I can't seem to find a table that lists what the return codes mean.My application is able to register and unregister COM objects, for both .DLL and .EXE files.
- File.exe -RegServer // for executable files - REGSVR32 File.dll // for dll files
I use CreateProcess to launch the com registration and GetExitCodeProcess to get the exit code when completed. But what do these return codes mean? Where can I find a Code<->Text translation? For example, when I unregister with -UnRegServer I usually get a return code of 28, with REGSVR32 I usually get 53...
I have been struggling to get vbscript working for last three days of relentless effort. I have windows 7 ultimate and upgraded from windows vista. searched the web for solutions and tried out all the options I think I have, but yet no luck.
I tried registering vbscript.dll and I get a succeeded message back. Everything seems to be fine. but, I just cannot run vbscript on my computer. It complains that "can't find script engine vbscript for script ....". I have a hunch that it is something to do with "microsfot security essentials (my virus protection software)" or with UAC.
Does setting service dependencies mean my service will only start if the one it is dependent on is already running or does my service wait to start until the dependent service has started.
Assuming an architecture as such.MODEL > BLL > DLL
Trying to implement lazy loading in my MODEL I have run into a circular dependency between my MODEL and BLL..Basically imagine a property in my model that I want to implement as follows
Public Readonly Property ProjectCategory As ProjectCategory Get If Me._ProjectCategory Is Nothing Then Me._ProjectCategory = ProjectCategoryBLL.GetProjectCategoryByID(Me._ProjectCategoryID) End If
[Code]...
I have my MODEL, BLL and DLL in separate projects and because of the fact that my BLL references my model I can not reference my BLL from my model as this would create a circular dependency.
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 on an XP machine. My other machine died so I had to re-install VS on a new machine. Everything worked find until I went to the new machine. Now I keep getting these 2 messages below when I go to build my solution:
Unable to find dependency 'interop.stdole' (signature ='(null)' Version='2.0.0.0') of assembly axinterop.mscomctllib.dll Unable to find dependency 'interop.stdole' (signature ='(null)' Version='2.0.0.0') of assembly interop.mscomctllib.dll
I tried to remove the references to both .dll's and then re-add them in and that didn't work. I tried removing and re-adding stdole, and that doesn't work either. I tried installing VS on another machine, but I get the same messages there.
The only thing I noticed out of the ordinary is under Detected Dependencies, when I right-click on axinterop.mscomctllib.dll and view the dependecies, I noticed there is a yellow exclamation point in the icon for interop.stdole. I don't see any information regarding that exclamation point however.
My company is stuck on .Net 3.0. i need to bind the IsChecked property of the CheckBoxResolvesCEDAR to the CompletesCEDARWork in my Audio class. The more I read about this it appears that I have to declare CompletesCEDARWork as dependancy propert, but I can not find a good example of how this is done. I found this example, but when I pasted into my code I get an "is not defined" error for GetValue and I have not successfully figure out what MyCode is supposed to represent.
Public Shared ReadOnly IsSpinningProperty As DependencyProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("IsSpinning", GetType(Boolean), GetType(MyCode)) Public Property IsSpinning() As Boolean
I have some project that written in .net 3.5 environment. But there still some dependency to .net 2.0 .How I can find this dependence parts of the code that use the old API ? I just want to update all code to 3.5 version.Project written in vb.net.
[using VB.NET, but I can easily read C# code in responses]I have a class called QuestionClipboard with ALL shared methods/properties. I previously had a QuesitonClipboard.doesClipboardHaveContent function that returned true/false if there was a Object on my 'clipboard'.I'd prefer to implement a Dependency Property so I can allow this true/false value to participate in data binding. The "GetValue(dp as DependencyProperty)" method requires an object instance, which would mean that my Property CAN'T be shared! Here is what the code would look like in my perfect world... Of course, the word "Shared" before the property declaration renders this code useless.
Private Shared clipboardHasContentPropertyKey As DependencyPropertyKey = DependencyProperty.RegisterReadOnly("clipboardHasContent", GetType(Boolean), GetType(QuestionClipboard), _
I might not be placing this query at the right place. But i am having a problem packaging my vb.net application into a windows installer. My vb.net [3.5 fw] uses windows media player component + shockwave component. Now when i select a new project and go to setup wizard.. it gievs me the following error/warning:"the following files may have dependencies that cannot be determined automatically.[code]
I have a relatively small app that Im building using vb.net 2.0, and nant. Its a app that calls out to an external exe to produce some output files, then processes those output files afterwards.I have built an interface to the exe, which I have created a stub implementation and the real implementation, what I would like to be able to do is use nant to either create a DEBUG build of the app, which calls the stub implementation, or create a PROD build of the app which will use the correct implementation.
I'm trying to update a dependancy property in VB.Net 4.0 inside of an Async callback. I feel like I am doing this correctly but I'm still getting the "The calling thread cannot access this object because a different thread owns it." error. Does someone see a better way of using delegates in VB.Net 4.0?
Private WithEvents myObj as CallingObject Private Delegate Sub MyErrorDel(ByVal strError as string) Public Property ErrorMessage As String
[code]....
Whenever ErrorMessage gets set inside of DisplayError an exception gets thrown, even though I am using the dispatcher to call DisplayError.
I have a custom class and my dependency properties won't work with bindings unless I declare the class as a static resource. My xaml: <sdk:Frame prism:RegionManager.RegionName="MainContentRegion"> <sdk:Frame.ContentLoader> <myLibrary:RegionNavigationContentLoader RegionManager="{Binding RegionManager}" RegionName="MainContentRegion" /> [Code] .....
I have a project that I am attempting to deploy. In my project I was using a SQL Express DB and after my first build I installed on my test PC only to find that it was going to make me install SQL Express which I defiantly do not want so I decided to scrap the DB.
I excluded the DB from the project, when into the project properties pages and removed all references to SQL and system.Data, Went into the code and removed all the "Imports" statements for SQL and Data and commented out all the SQL DB code. I then tried another build and had the same results. I started looking at the files and then I realized I did not change the app.config file. I went into it and deleted out the connection string entry. I built the project again only to have the same result. I cannot seem to see what could still be referencing SQL. Isn't commented code ignored?
I've got a .NET solution that I've just upgraded from VS2008 to VS2010. It contains three web projects and two straight VB projects. The web projects all depend on (and have a reference to) one of the VB projects called BusinessLogic. All projects are targeted at .NET 2.0, but VS2010 is raising the following build warning:
The following assembly has dependencies on a version of the .NET Framework that is higher than the target and might not load correctly during runtime causing a failure: BusinessLogic, Version=1.0.4419.22315, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null. The dependencies are: Microsoft.VisualBasic, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a. You should either ensure that the dependent assembly is correct for the target framework, or ensure that the target framework you are addressing is that of the dependent assembly.
I am having an issue with Visual Studio 2008 SP1. Basically, I have a .NET 3.5 solution with a client, shared and server component. While coding, all components run on the same box, but in production the server component is a standalone (remoting) service running on a separate server.
I would expect that a change to the client component would require only a rebuild of that component as there is no client/server dependency. This is in fact how it works on my work PC. However, on my personal PC and another co-worker's PC, any modification - even a simple label change on the client, requires the server component service to be stopped so that the solution can be rebuilt in its entirety. Does anyone know if there is a particular setting that controls this??
UI references Functionality to call specific functions. Functionality needs to call certain functions that operate UI. This is what I mean by Duplex communication. Is there any way to do this without causing circular dependency?Should there be 1 main project which simply does all the calling acting as a "wrapper" between UI and Functionality?
I have a vb.net windows application that i am using, i have embedded a shockwave flash file in one of the forms, in the development enviornment everything works fine. Then I am using the setup and deployment to create a "msi" it automatically detects that the shockwave flash is a dependency for my project and adds the required dll.Once it has created the msi, and i run it on a new machine, the software gets installed, but the flash component inside the form dosent work. is there something special i need to do for that dll?
I have a user control with its own context menu, however I need to add additional items to that menu.
The approach I took was to have a dependency property called ContextMenuItems:
Public Shared ReadOnly ContextMenuItemsProperty As DependencyProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("ContextMenuItems", GetType(ObservableCollection(Of MenuItem)), GetType(SmartDataControl), New FrameworkPropertyMetadata(New
So I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that I don't have office loaded on my computer. Now I have another laptop, with office that I loaded this project on, and it works fine. So do I have to load office on this computer, or can I just reference something?
