Wpf - Declare A Dependency Property In .Net 3.0?

May 15, 2010

My company is stuck on .Net 3.0. i need to bind the IsChecked property of the CheckBoxResolvesCEDAR to the CompletesCEDARWork in my Audio class. The more I read about this it appears that I have to declare CompletesCEDARWork as dependancy propert, but I can not find a good example of how this is done. I found this example, but when I pasted into my code I get an "is not defined" error for GetValue and I have not successfully figure out what MyCode is supposed to represent.

Public Shared ReadOnly IsSpinningProperty As DependencyProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("IsSpinning", GetType(Boolean), GetType(MyCode))
Public Property IsSpinning() As Boolean

C# - WPF Dependency Property Not Working?

Dec 6, 2010

I have a custom Dependency Property defined like so:

public static readonly DependencyProperty MyDependencyProperty =
DependencyProperty.Register(
"MyCustomProperty", typeof(string), typeof(MyClass));[code]....

Now I try set that property in XAML

<controls:TargetCatalogControl MyCustomProperty="Boo" />

But the setter in DependencyObject never gets hit! Although it does when I change the property to be a regular property and not a Dep Prop

Possible To Have A Shared/Static Dependency Property?

May 25, 2010

[using VB.NET, but I can easily read C# code in responses]I have a class called QuestionClipboard with ALL shared methods/properties. I previously had a QuesitonClipboard.doesClipboardHaveContent function that returned true/false if there was a Object on my 'clipboard'.I'd prefer to implement a Dependency Property so I can allow this true/false value to participate in data binding. The "GetValue(dp as DependencyProperty)" method requires an object instance, which would mean that my Property CAN'T be shared! Here is what the code would look like in my perfect world... Of course, the word "Shared" before the property declaration renders this code useless.

Private Shared clipboardHasContentPropertyKey As DependencyPropertyKey = DependencyProperty.RegisterReadOnly("clipboardHasContent", GetType(Boolean), GetType(QuestionClipboard), _

.net - Declare A Local Variable Whenever Access A Property?

say i have an auto property Public Property P As Integer and everytime I want to read this variable P in a function, i will declare a local variable as such: dim _p = P then read _p instead of P. I'm wondering does it make sense at all? will it actually make things slower (which of course isn't my intention).Btw if we change the question to Public Property P As Object is there any change in the answer?

.net - Circular Dependency Between MODEL And BLL?

Public Readonly Property ProjectCategory As ProjectCategory

If Me._ProjectCategory Is Nothing Then
Me._ProjectCategory = ProjectCategoryBLL.GetProjectCategoryByID(Me._ProjectCategoryID)
End If

I have my MODEL, BLL and DLL in separate projects and because of the fact that my BLL references my model I can not reference my BLL from my model as this would create a circular dependency.

Unable To Find Dependency?

Oct 28, 2009

I'm using Visual Studio 2008 on an XP machine. My other machine died so I had to re-install VS on a new machine. Everything worked find until I went to the new machine. Now I keep getting these 2 messages below when I go to build my solution:

Unable to find dependency 'interop.stdole' (signature ='(null)' Version='2.0.0.0') of assembly axinterop.mscomctllib.dll
Unable to find dependency 'interop.stdole' (signature ='(null)' Version='2.0.0.0') of assembly interop.mscomctllib.dll

I tried to remove the references to both .dll's and then re-add them in and that didn't work. I tried removing and re-adding stdole, and that doesn't work either. I tried installing VS on another machine, but I get the same messages there.

The only thing I noticed out of the ordinary is under Detected Dependencies, when I right-click on axinterop.mscomctllib.dll and view the dependecies, I noticed there is a yellow exclamation point in the icon for interop.stdole. I don't see any information regarding that exclamation point however.

Deployment :: Unable To Get Rid Of Project Reference / Dependency

Jun 22, 2009

I have a project that I am attempting to deploy. In my project I was using a SQL Express DB and after my first build I installed on my test PC only to find that it was going to make me install SQL Express which I defiantly do not want so I decided to scrap the DB.

I excluded the DB from the project, when into the project properties pages and removed all references to SQL and system.Data, Went into the code and removed all the "Imports" statements for SQL and Data and commented out all the SQL DB code. I then tried another build and had the same results. I started looking at the files and then I realized I did not change the app.config file. I went into it and deleted out the connection string entry. I built the project again only to have the same result. I cannot seem to see what could still be referencing SQL. Isn't commented code ignored?

VS2010 Complaining About Microsoft.VisualBasic Dependency?

Feb 6, 2012

I've got a .NET solution that I've just upgraded from VS2008 to VS2010. It contains three web projects and two straight VB projects. The web projects all depend on (and have a reference to) one of the VB projects called BusinessLogic. All projects are targeted at .NET 2.0, but VS2010 is raising the following build warning:

The following assembly has dependencies on a version of the .NET Framework that is higher than the target and might not load correctly during runtime causing a failure: BusinessLogic, Version=1.0.4419.22315, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null. The dependencies are: Microsoft.VisualBasic, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a. You should either ensure that the dependent assembly is correct for the target framework, or ensure that the target framework you are addressing is that of the dependent assembly.

.net - Visual Studio 2008 Build Dependency Chain?

Feb 22, 2009

I am having an issue with Visual Studio 2008 SP1. Basically, I have a .NET 3.5 solution with a client, shared and server component. While coding, all components run on the same box, but in production the server component is a standalone (remoting) service running on a separate server.

I would expect that a change to the client component would require only a rebuild of that component as there is no client/server dependency. This is in fact how it works on my work PC. However, on my personal PC and another co-worker's PC, any modification - even a simple label change on the client, requires the server component service to be stopped so that the solution can be rebuilt in its entirety. Does anyone know if there is a particular setting that controls this??

.net - If An Interface Defines A ReadOnly Property, How Can An Implementer Provide The Setter To This Property

Jun 10, 2011

Is there a way for implementers of an interface where a ReadOnly property is defined to make it a complete Read/Write Property ?

Imagine I define an interface to provide a ReadOnly Property (i.e., just a getter for a given value) :

Interface SomeInterface
'the interface only say that implementers must provide a value for reading
ReadOnly Property PublicProperty As String
End Interface

This means implementers must commit to providing a value. But I would like a given implementer to also allow setting that value. In my head, this would mean providing the Property's setter as part of the implementation, doing something like this :

Public Property PublicProperty As String Implements SomeInterface.PublicProperty
Get
Return _myProperty

Reflection - Find From A Property Info Object If That Property Has A Non Public (Private / Protected) Setter?

.net - Make A Class Property Behave Like The Checked Property On RadioButton?

Jun 1, 2012

I have a very simple class that holds a few public properties - ID, Text, Colour, etc. and a Boolean called 'SelectedItem'. Just like the Checked property on RadioButtons, only one item can have its SelectedItem property set to True within a particular group. Note: there will be several separate groups (lists), each allowed to have only one item with SelectedItem = True.

My first thought was that I would probably just have to handle everything outside of the class, setting SelectedItem to False for every other item in a particular list when another item was selected. But that seems rather inelegant to me. So I've been trying to think of how this might be done within the class. For example: could I perhaps have a private string property called say "GroupName" - set in the New sub when adding a new instance of the class - and then use a private shared method to set every item's SelectedItem property to False, provided the item has the same GroupName as the newly selected item? I would have a go at doing this but I have no idea how to enumerate every instance of a class from within that class, or whether that's even possible. Is it? Or is there another (better) way to achieve my goal? Here is a cut-down version of what I've got so far:

Public Class ResourceItem
Public ID As Integer
Public Text As String[code]....

As can be seen: instead of instantiating a new ResourceItem and passing that as an argument to the manager's Add procedure, I'm simply passing the details of the new item and the procedure is creating the item from those. I don't know whether this is a good or bad idea - please advise - but I've done it because I couldn't figure out how to make the SelectedItem property only writeable by the manager, so I wanted to avoid having directly accessible objects that could have their SelectedItem property set to True without it deselecting all the other items in the same group. Of course that still leaves the possibility of setting a variable to one of the manager's list items and setting it from there, so I would still like to know how I could prevent that, if possible.

UPDATE: I didn't use the code above in the end, deciding instead to go with Cyborgx37's solution - which seems to work perfectly well for me despite the warnings about best practice. I also realised I would need to use the same class in another scenario where multiple items could be selected, so it was easy to add a Boolean property to the manager to enable that.
