I have a DataGridView and have the AutoGenerateColumns property set to false, but the when I build my project the columns are Auto Generated.
I can see the property set to false in the Designer.vb code for the Form.
I've had this problem before and I'm not sure how to fix it.

View 1 Repliessetting the width of the gridview when i used the property AutoGenerateColumns to AutoGenerateColumns="true". And the gridview is databind in code behind. If i am using gridview1.columns(0).width it raise error.
And the GridView1.Columns.Count is always zero because the grid view is databind.

View 2 RepliesJust moved from VB.NET to C#.In VB to connect and Event Handler to a Sub we use the Handles clause.From what it seems, this do not exist in C#. After creating a simple application with a button I realize that Window Forms Designer automatically created an EventHandler to my button1_Click function (after I double clicked it), in Form1.Designer.cs with this code:
this.button1.Click += new System.EventHandler(this.button1_Click);
But, in VB, the WinForms Designer create the Handles clause in my class, in the function header. So, C# create the default EventHandler in designer file, while VB creates in main class where control resides.

I've declared the sort event handler (OnSorting="Gridview1_Sorting" ), and it works fine.However, then I change the column title (headers as they are in the dataset which I get from the database)

For some reason, the label is not lining up with the others once I span it. I'm trying to span it to get all the text to show but once I do, it starts pushing it over. I don't see anywhere where I restrict the size so that shouldn't be the issue.
I tried doing all this in the design and it works just fine. Mimicking the designer code doesn't seem to fix it either unless I'm doing something seriously wrong...

A DataGridView in my VB.NET 2008 program contains over 15,000 rows. I loop through the rows, totalling groups of rows and appending 'total rows' and one 'Final total row' to the DataGridView. That works fine. I want to initially hide all rows except for the total rows, giving the user the option to show all 'detail' rows. If i place the statement << dgvTitleCounts.Rows(intRow).Visible = False >> in the loop, execution time increases by three minutes and that is unacceptable.
I see two options: (1) find a faster way of making all rows invisible; and (2) place the total rows in a separate DataSet and bound DataGridView.
I would like to make a applcation that after checkbox inside datagridview is checked. After calcuation stuff, if result less than standard, then it set the checkbox to not checked state. But I find that checkbox in datagridview does not change. It changed after I click other checkbox. What I want is lagging one cycle. I tried dgv.refresh() or update event , no effect.

I have a strange problem with a DataGridView I'm using which is bound to a table in VB.net
I've added a checkbox column to allow a user to tick a bunch of rows that I can then loop through and save off to a different table. All the checkboxes are enabled by default. So it's really a case of unchecking the rows which aren't required.
However, the DataGridView re-enables any checkbox that I click after I click on a checkbox in another row. So in effect, only one row can be unchecked at a time.
EDIT: I forgot to mention this is a Windows form, not an ASP.net application.
is there an easy way to make the size of a datagridview expand dynamically (like say it is not long enough to display all the data it will grow in width), or do i have to implement this functionality manually?

What I would like to do is switch to specifying the columns by name so the code won't have to be changed if columns are moved around. I have tried several things that didn't work. I have a standard DataGridView. One of the columns is a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn. When I select one of the ComboBox items, I want to trap the change and add additional columns based on the item selected in the ComboBox. I've tried using CellValueChanged for the DataGridView column, and a bunch of other events, but none of them is fired when the DataGridViewComboBox value is changed. What event can I trap to make this happen? Right now as I said, I am using CellValueChanged, but of course the event doesn't fire until I click on another cell...

View 2 RepliesI am workinng on an aopplication using the DataGridView.My intent is that the DataGridView is displayed with four columns, the user clicks on a row in any column and the complete record for the selected item is displayed and the DataGridViewis no longer in view.
The code to do this is in the event "dgvCollections_CellContentClick" and the function works exactly as I want it to.The problem is that when I want to sort by a specific column I click on the column header and not only does it sort , it calls the 'CellContentClick' event and the details form is displayed, which I do not want to happen.Is there a way around this problem other then using the "dgvCollections_CellContentDoubleClick" event to select the detail? This was what I did as I sterted this project and I found that the double click was very sensitive and often did not work. The single click is much better for the eventual user.
