.net - Detecting If Snipping Tool Is Open Within A Web Application?
Aug 24, 2010
I was just wondering - is it possible to detect, with either .net, SilverLight, Flash or some other plugin, whether or not Snipping Tool is open, or detect when the user opens it (after the page has loaded)? Also is it possible to detect when print screen is pressed even if another window is active?
I'm new to VB 2010 but have be using VB6 for many years.I'm currently stuck trying to store the state of open MDI childs at the moment the MDI parent is closed. Clicking the parent upper right close button appears to close all open MDI childs before running the parent 'Closing' or 'Disposed' events.I am therefore unable to detect which MDI childs are open and cannot restore them next time the application is run.Is there any other event for the MDI parent I can detect the start of the closing process before the children are closed?
i m a vb.6.0 developer and now turned in vb.net. so i m new in vb.net.My problem is given below.i opened the word documents in webbrowser control and it is just showing a document page with rular. But my main problem is that i want to open whole word documents with tool &menu bar in webcontrol. i used the following code which is given below.
WebBrowser1.Navigate("C:dharmchandBlank.doc")i wrote this code in form_load events and when i run my application then it is showing just a page with rular. But not showing Menu bar & Standard or Formatting toolbar.
i have developed an application using OPEN XML SDK Tool 2.0 which generates Excel file. I have Data table of 100000 row and 30 columns and i want to generate excel file with these 100000 rows and 30 columns but it takes about 2 minutes of time to generate excel file. What can i do to reduce this time.
I am developing a windows service, in vb .et, that launches a legacy application that performs some work. The service acts as a wrapper around the legacy app allowing users to automate an otherwise manual operation.Everything is working great, except occasionally the legacy app displays a messagebox. When it does this the process halts until the message box is closed.
As the service will be running on a server there will be no user to close the message box.The service launches the legacy application in a System.Diagnostics.Process.My question is, is there way to detect that a message box has been displayed by a process that I have started using System.Diagnostics.Process and is there a way to through code to close the messagebox.
I typically prompt the user to save changes in the FormClosing event in MDI children. The application updater uses a Process.CloseMainWindow call to close the application if it's running before the patch update is applied.
I need to detect when the updater is closing the application and NOT prompt the user to save changes but save them automatically. I've tried using the System.Windows.Forms.CloseReason but this method isn't working for me. I capture the CloseReason in the MDI Parent FormClosing event but it's called AFTER the MDI children are told to close. I tried capturing the CloseReason (e.CloseReason) in the MDI child's FormClosing event but it registers as MDI Parent closing and a normal application exit is also going to raise this same e.CloseReason so I can't auto-save here either.
So my question is: How can I detect this Process.CloseMainWindow being used to close my application so that I can bypass all save prompts and save automatically? What is the first event called in this method of closing so that I can signal all MDI children that are open in their FormClosing event to just save?
Currently developing an automation tool to test new desktop OS builds at work. Need to be able to open menu items on toolbarwindow32 windows (main menu of explorer windows). Now this requires retrieving information of all the buttons on the toolbar, obtaining the button ID of desired menu and sending a WM_COMMAND message with the ID. I'm having trouble retrieving button information. Now im using openprocess, virtualallocex to allocate virtual memory in the target process, and then sending the TB_GETBUTTON message with a pointer to the allocated memory then reading out the result. Allocation and the send message works fine but reading the processmemory back out is failing but not returning an error code, getlastwin32error returns nothing either.

As mentioned above, the read process memoery call fails, the return value is -1 The documentation states it returns 0 for fail, non zero for pass. Wondering if the problem lies in incorrect use of types in pinvoke calls or the struct tbbutton is incorrect, or my use of a pinned pointer is wrong,or whether I need to use adjusttokenpriviledges to ensure I have rights.Though I'm running under admin and examples similar to this don't use it.

i've searched high and low and cannot seem to find how to implement an application tool bar in VB.Net. I want to basically create a scrolling text banner, which docks itself on the top of the screen on which scrolls along a message. Pretty simple in VB6 but can find a VB.net alternative.
We would like to know if there are any recommended tools in .NET that can scan through a VB .NET project & do an analysis. It should report on the Lines Of Code, provide no. of Routines, No. of 3rd party Tools, No. of Variables, Forms Diagrams, No. of Classes etc.
I'm trying to build a search tool for my application... I have a form with a bunch of criteria which the user may or may not fill in. The tool is looking up against one table in the database (OLEDB) so I wanted to pull in all the data from the table into a dataset (when the form loads) and perform the search on it. I'm not sure how to search through datasets... this is the code I have now:
Public Class TxnLookup Dim daLookup As OleDbDataAdapter Dim dsLookup As DataSet Dim cbLookup As OleDbCommandBuilder
[code]....
but I get an error on the foundrows = line ("Value of type 1-dimensional array of system.data.datarow cannot be converted to system.data.datarow").... is there a better way for me to search the dataset?
i need to convert a Java tool into a VB (2005) application. Most things are fairly straight forward, but i have on a few lines my problem the appropriate VB function to find.
my name's Sardor, from Uzbekistan. I have some experience in coding in vb.net, but i am having real difficulties with realizing one project. The thing is to code a simple drawing tool and embed it to an existing vb.net application. The drawing tool should be a simple object and have the functionality very similar to mspaint (windows built-in drawing software). It should also have some custom brushes, and it should support loading and saving pictures in common formats such as bmp, jpeg, gif, and png. how to code such a drawing tool? Or can I instead download any such control or tool as an add-in to vb.net and use it?
I want to open up an existing instance if my program is already running only if its running the same version.I noticed that this question was asked for only if the name exists, but what if the version is older, I just want to notify the user that an older version is still running, "please remove older version before starting this version."The other link is this one:Return to an already open application when a user tries to open a new instance but they don't talk about closing an instance if an older or newer version is detected.
i have 2 vb applications. this is the code for the first one which when a button is clicked it will check if the other application is already open. If not, it'll open that application -
Dim sComputer As String sComputer = Environ("COMPUTERNAME") Dim LocalByName As Process() = Process.GetProcessesByName("ticket.prices", sComputer)
[code]....
this runs fine. but what i need is that the customerid on the application 1 that is calling application 2, should be transfered while opening app 2.e.g -Customer 10001 screen is open on app 1. When i click open app 2, the above code runs and opens app 2. how do i make app 2 open to customer 10001 screen. Is there any way to pass parameters while opening app 2 in System.Diagnostics.Process.Start ?
