.net - Querying Values In Multiple Databases?

I'm using this function to return a value from multiple databases across three SQL instances (On the same server). I'm looping though a DataGridView that lists all the databases on one of the three SQL instances.Is there a faster way of doing this? It's quite slow using this method.

I am trying to create a stock scanner which allows users to filter stocks based on multiple criteria that they select. Like the following example with 2 criteria:
Criteria 1 Filtered Result: StockA, StockB, StockC, StockD
Criteria 2 Filtered Result: Stock B, Stock C, StockE, StockF
SCANNER RESULT: Stock B, StockC (ideally this result would be displayed in a GridView)

I've been searching all day about this and can't find a solution..I'm fairly new to VB and SQL Queries, so I apologize if I sound a little daft.Basically I'm working on a project in VB 2010 where a user can add new teams, players, also create matches between teams and record the score. We've got the following scenario:
Central Database (replicated across multiple servers)
Client Database 1
Client Database 2
The Central db has Users and Roles amongst other things The Client dbs have similar tables to each other but with some fields tweaked - contact, address, At present, each client db has its own user/role information which is copied from the central db by a scheduled process. I want to retrieve the user/role information directly from the central db instead (bearing in mind tables in the client db make reference to the user entity)

connect my vb.net application to a remote sql server database, so every one who installs the application would be able to connect to the same remote database. the application would obviously require the internet to run.i also want the option to add more databases in the future, preferably one for each business who would use my software.i am wondering the best way to set up this server that could hold multiple databases. i would think i have two options:
1) set up the server myself on a dedicated computer
2) pay for some type of service that host sql server dataases
so how would i go about executing these options? i dont know the first thing. which option is better?i do however know how to connect to a remote database so thats not what i am asking.

I currently have an old database that has tables for requests and customers. This information is currently displayed in ASP.NET
What I was required to do, was to connect a new database for users into this system, while keeping the tables for the requests in the old database. Thus it is using 2 databases. I have set it up so, when a user creates a new request, in the request tables it saves it with his userID from the new database, but when the table is being displayed, it uses this new userID to find the user information from the old customers table. Thus I ended up with this:

Currently it displays nothing, and gives out an error for myItem.Value = rdr.GetInt32(0) being a Null. I went through it step by step and it loads customerids normaly into the myItem.Value, but when they run out, it is supposed to exit, but keeps going, thus giving an error.

I have a dilemma. The program I"m trying to complete is one VB project with three (3) forms. The first form will act as a menu dialog box. The other two forms will have a dataset (database) on each form. The first form will have a button when clicked it will pull up form 2 and the second button when clicked will bring up form 3. What I add the dataset to form 2 everything is fine. I can see my tableadapter, dataset and so on. Now, when I add the second dataset (database) to form 3, I loose my, dataset and so on. It doesn't appear on any of the two forms (in designer)tableadapter.

At my company, product is boxed and then placed on a scale/label printer set up in order to be weighed and labeled. The application running on the PC also records a record of each box in an MS Access Database which is then transferred to the main server. There is a separate access database for each scale PC and currently the only way our shipping department can print out a manifest for each pallet (which contains a list of all the boxes and their weights) is to open the correct access database and print out the report by entering the pallet number. Since there are six printer scales and the shipping person has no idea which scale it will be on just by looking at the number, she has to find the correct database through trial-and-error.
What I've been asked to do is create an application where she can simply type in the pallet number, and it will search each individual database for the number, then open the correct one where she can then print out the report without having to guess where it is. I've already figured out how to make the application open the database and report, but I don't know how to make it find which database the pallet record is contained in.Basically I want it to search a number of databases for a particular number in a field, and the return a value when it finds it of which database it is so that I can plug that in later. I have no idea how to do this and my searches online have proven fruitless.

I have two unrelated databases and I need to pass data back and forth between them. Right now I have created two separate entity models - one for each database - but this is causing issues in my code b/c I have to do a Using nameofcontext / End Using and when I try to then use some of the results from the first section of the code in a second Using nameofcontext / End Using it doesn't like it - b/c I've closed the connection to the first database!

When I click on button1, employee_id and P values need to be transferred from button1_click to Cal_Category13() and go through all the calculation. After the calculation, udtnew.X and udtnew.MTD values need to be transferred back to button1_Click
I've no problem to return multiple values Cal_Category13().MTD and Cal_Category13().X from Cal_Category13() to button1_Click but i've no idea how to transfer employee_id and p values from button1_click to Cal_Category13().

I have simple columns and their respective sums. However, I exclude 1 particular value from each sum, like so [code]...
Now I need to exclude another value ("Awaiting Progression") from a second column called "PROGRESSION".
Since I already exclude value based on 1 column called CATEGORY, how do I change my =Sum(Code.ExcludeOthers(Fields!CATEGORY.Value,Fields!ACTION_PLAN_NEW.Value)) to exclude a value from the PROGRESSION column if it's = ("Awaiting Progression") ?
i.e. How do I exclude multiple values, depending on values in 2 columns in SSRS 2005?

MySQL databases exists for saving values as strings (text only). Is there any way that i could store files with the same speed as a mysql command ? I know that it depends on the file size but lets say that the file is "Avatar.jpg" 50KB... I ve tried FTP but this is not what im looking for. e.g. You want your users been able to upload a file like the [Add This Attachment] button does in dreamincode.net and you dont have any background on PHP/HTML/Javascript/ASP.NET just VB.NET and the basics of MySQL plus you dont want to use it for a website. How do you accomplish this? Something silly that ive tried was opening an image as text then update the mysql server with that text but it didnt work backwards after i wrote the text on the file and oppened it ...it said that the image was corrupted.

I am using asp.net with vb.net. I have created 2 listboxes; lstselect and lstroles. List boxes lstselect contains all of the available roles that can be added into lstroles. How do I take the roles that have been added into lstroles and make them into a parameter to pulled into my database when the stored procedure runs?

I am using ASP.NET and C#. I must read a cookie called "TheCookie".TheCookie have about 3 values in them. Cookie1, Cookie2 and Cookie3.How would i get the value in code to read Cookie2's value inside "TheCookie"?

I am using visual studio 2010/vb trying to display data that is based on a value read from a text file.Currently i can get it to read a text file with only 1 value and get this value into a label. Then by using a SqlDataSource and setting a parameter in the WHERE clause to use the value from the label, it will display the related data in a data GridView.
BUT i would like to be able to read multiple values seperated by a , or next row down in the text file and enter these values into a WHERE bookID in (value1,value2,...)

What I need to do is make it run for a user-specified number of iterations (the tankfuls variable) and store those separate results in separate locations in the arrays, then average all of those values at the end (find the overall average MPG).

ok so I am trying to grab a bunch of phone numbers from my html page. I have successfully grabed the first one but I dont know how to get it to loop around and grab the next one and list them out into a listbox. here is the code I have for getting the first value, but how can I make it go in a loop. Is it possible to make a function that returns both a datatable AND a list(of custom class) at the same?In my GUI layer, the main form (the application is MDI) calls this function and it has to fill the datagrid on one of its child forms and it also has to fill lot of other child forms with various information that is calculated from my custom class properties.Both the datatable and the class properties are created from the same external database and that's why I don't want to have two separate functions.

I have created a function that takes a Car Registation as its argument and I want it to return 3 values (Make, Model, Price and of course True).The code itself works fine (it returning each Individual value but can't find a way to get ALL of them from 1 function) However I need to actually return all 3 values, and I cannot see how to do this with a simple function.

I am working on a project I would like to use a function in a class I created to return multiple values in order to populate a listbox. I wanted to use a do until loop to achieve this. I will just post a simplified example of what I am doing :
Public Function Listboxfiller
Dim astring As String = "This is a string"
Dim Counter as integer = 0
Do until Counter = 5
return astring
Counter += 1
Loop
Then on the form I would do something like :
lstListbox.Items.Add(Myclass.Listboxfiller)
What happens right now is that the listbox only gets the first value, when I ran through in debug mode I found the loop only runs once, even though it should go multiple times.

I do not know if it is possible to implement this problem in VBA or it must be done with VB. Net using Visual Studio.
Problem: Excel has its search function and it is a pain if there many value available or you must find a value that far away from column A.
I would like to have something like this
In which I can specify what columns I want to display by their header name. Rearrange the column in the way I would like to, and ability to copy and paste. Like datagrid in Visual basic?

I am creating a page in which I need to show a drop down List. From this drop down List a user can select multiple values. I know I could use a check box list like:

I have a sql query with that adds numerical values from different table to find total for a shipment.
