Multiple Databases Information Display?

I currently have an old database that has tables for requests and customers. This information is currently displayed in ASP.NET
What I was required to do, was to connect a new database for users into this system, while keeping the tables for the requests in the old database. Thus it is using 2 databases. I have set it up so, when a user creates a new request, in the request tables it saves it with his userID from the new database, but when the table is being displayed, it uses this new userID to find the user information from the old customers table. Thus I ended up with this:

Currently it displays nothing, and gives out an error for myItem.Value = rdr.GetInt32(0) being a Null. I went through it step by step and it loads customerids normaly into the myItem.Value, but when they run out, it is supposed to exit, but keeps going, thus giving an error.

My website allows users to type a code into a textbox. If a recognized code is entered, the page will refresh and display a welcome message to that user, otherwise an error message will come up. I am putting their manually entered code into a session so that their name can be pulled up. I can't get the session to stay between pages.
I have been told to make sure EnableSessionState="true" but that doesn't work on master pages.I've been told to check IIS settings, but I can't because I don't have permissions to it. Tried SessionState cookieless="UseUri" and somehow that created a never-ending redirect loop.I have debugged the functions and they DO return values. The textbox DOES go away when I enter a code and the welcome message gets displayed with the user's first and last name, so I know that works.I've checked to make sure there is no Session.Abandon code anywhere in the site.
I added a Watch to every instance of Session("IB") on the page and they are filled correctly when I enter a code into the textbox. Then when I click on a link to move to another page, the debugger stops on the very first line in my Page_Load, Dim ib As String = CType(Session.Item("IB"), String) and all of my watched IB variables immediately turn into Nothing.

More:sessionState has been changed and the site still acts like it has been, the ConnectionString must not have anything to do with the problem with the 2nd database losing it's session. It's gotta be something in the code behind, I can't think of what else could be wrong with the web.config.

We also found out that the session variable is still there, it just won't display the user's information when it's connected to the back up database connection.

I think the problem arose because of Windows 7, but when I was at school the program worked. The program fills in the text boxes with information from Microsoft Access. However, my laptop has Windows 7, and when debugged, the information doesn't fill in the text boxes like before. Also, for added information, the school's computers run with Windows XP.

Several times av been come across of the need of how to create new variables on my application while is running and the next time i will run again the application to be existed in my source code and still be inside.
what excatly i mean is for example i have a listbox with out assigne it in any databound ,or retreive any items from any textbox i just want to insert some items inside
if i go from the designer then i can succesfully add any item i want and they will be there as i declare them.but if i want to to that programmatically i will be able to add them in the listbox but the next time i will run it again it will be lost.until i will select the command again to fill my listbox which is not what i want
in my case i have a datagridview which is running SQL querys and i want if the user selects to save this query i want from some way to save this query string in my listbox . and i want to be there the next time i will run my application with out using any text file or database,
is there any way to that ? i have search before i ask but obviusly my keywords dosen't much with what i was looking for

We've got the following scenario:
Central Database (replicated across multiple servers)
Client Database 1
Client Database 2
The Central db has Users and Roles amongst other things The Client dbs have similar tables to each other but with some fields tweaked - contact, address, At present, each client db has its own user/role information which is copied from the central db by a scheduled process. I want to retrieve the user/role information directly from the central db instead (bearing in mind tables in the client db make reference to the user entity)

I'm using this function to return a value from multiple databases across three SQL instances (On the same server). I'm looping though a DataGridView that lists all the databases on one of the three SQL instances.Is there a faster way of doing this? It's quite slow using this method.

connect my vb.net application to a remote sql server database, so every one who installs the application would be able to connect to the same remote database. the application would obviously require the internet to run.i also want the option to add more databases in the future, preferably one for each business who would use my software.i am wondering the best way to set up this server that could hold multiple databases. i would think i have two options:
1) set up the server myself on a dedicated computer
2) pay for some type of service that host sql server dataases
so how would i go about executing these options? i dont know the first thing. which option is better?i do however know how to connect to a remote database so thats not what i am asking.

I have a dilemma. The program I"m trying to complete is one VB project with three (3) forms. The first form will act as a menu dialog box. The other two forms will have a dataset (database) on each form. The first form will have a button when clicked it will pull up form 2 and the second button when clicked will bring up form 3. What I add the dataset to form 2 everything is fine. I can see my tableadapter, dataset and so on. Now, when I add the second dataset (database) to form 3, I loose my, dataset and so on. It doesn't appear on any of the two forms (in designer)tableadapter.

At my company, product is boxed and then placed on a scale/label printer set up in order to be weighed and labeled. The application running on the PC also records a record of each box in an MS Access Database which is then transferred to the main server. There is a separate access database for each scale PC and currently the only way our shipping department can print out a manifest for each pallet (which contains a list of all the boxes and their weights) is to open the correct access database and print out the report by entering the pallet number. Since there are six printer scales and the shipping person has no idea which scale it will be on just by looking at the number, she has to find the correct database through trial-and-error.
What I've been asked to do is create an application where she can simply type in the pallet number, and it will search each individual database for the number, then open the correct one where she can then print out the report without having to guess where it is. I've already figured out how to make the application open the database and report, but I don't know how to make it find which database the pallet record is contained in.Basically I want it to search a number of databases for a particular number in a field, and the return a value when it finds it of which database it is so that I can plug that in later. I have no idea how to do this and my searches online have proven fruitless.

How do I display may sql databases in listbox without connection? Is it possible? Right now I have this:

I am doing this because I wanted the user to create the connection for the main application to use. Right now, i have a combobox with items, MyServ/SQLexpress and ./SQLExpress. I have a textbox and a listbox where the user will choose from the items from the listbox which will then display in the textbox.... I dont like to explicitly put in my code this

I have two unrelated databases and I need to pass data back and forth between them. Right now I have created two separate entity models - one for each database - but this is causing issues in my code b/c I have to do a Using nameofcontext / End Using and when I try to then use some of the results from the first section of the code in a second Using nameofcontext / End Using it doesn't like it - b/c I've closed the connection to the first database!

I have 3 databases: Subject, Class, and Students. In the Subject database, I have SubjectID and SubjectName and the PK is SubjectID. I have the releationship bound to the Students table where I only have the SubjectID in there. Next in the Class database I have ClassID and ClassName. ClassID is the PK and it's relationship is bound to the Students database where I only have the ClassID in there. Here is what I am having troubles with.I have comboboxes set up on a form to where the user can select which class and which subject the student is good at. What I want to do is to be able to insert those values into the Students table so that the values will make the correct Subject and Class name appear on the students record. I also want to be able to modify said Subject and Class ID, which when you click on the button, brings up another form to edit Student info, such as name, address, phone number, etc.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I take the comboboxes and display them on the form. For the datasource I use the Class for one and Subject for the other. The display member is Subject name or Class name and the value member is either class ID or Subject ID. When I run the project though, the class name and subject stay the same for all the students. I have sample data in my tables that is different for each student, but it does not work.

I've currently got a service that produces xml files every 10 seconds containing server information. I'm looking for a way to display this on a web page. I have been looking on the web for the best way to do this and it seems that using AJAX would be good as it allows the loading of dynamic content to be done in the background. However how can I use AJAX? Should I add a ASP.NET website to my visual studio project? OR should I look to use javascript & AJAX in something like dreamweaver? I'm very new to programming so i only really have a bit of experience in vb.net.

Ok, stay with me on this one.I have a bunch of css files with classes defined in them.They are like this:.toolbar{......}.addpage{......}
I have managed to extract the just the classnames with a bit of help from a fellow member.now i have another bunch of .vb, .aspx files which use these css classes in them. they in the form:<id=23441:cssClass="toolbar">Now I have to extract the classnames after the 'cssClass' key word and then compare all the classnames with the previously extracted ones and determine which Classes are not being used.

someone give an idea or guide to do this: i have two forms. First form is used to ask from, to, departure time and how many people we want to book for. Second form is used to ask for each person that we book what is their name, age, title, phone number. i planned to use a loop to loop form 2 to ask for their info.
