My website has a setup whereby when the application starts a module called SiteContent is "created". This runs a clearup function which basically deletes any irrelevant data from the database, in case any has been left in there from previously run functions.
With a listbox visible, I have clicked on the windows form hoping to use the listbox.lostfocus event to let me hide the listbox - but the event does not occur. I suppose I can use the form.click event to hide the listbox, but how would I get the form to accept focus?
I am targetting framework 3.5 using a OneClick Deployment, code and packaging done in Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition.I have code which works in my debug environment, and when installed on the development machine. It also works on one other machine. However, three other machines are throwing exceptions. The situation throwing the exception is that I have a serial port I am accessing, which is open, and which has been successfully opened. I then try to close the port using the following
I have two radio button on my asp.net page, with AutoPostBack = True When I click on either of those, they each set a flag SaveData=False However, when I click on them, the page_load event occurs first, so the page_load event saves the data, then the radiobutton_OnCheckedChanged event is triggered. How can I trigger the OnCheckedChanged before the page_load event?
I have a database with a simple flyweight table referenced by another table. Let's call them, respectively, Category and Product. The Product table has several columns, one of which is a foreign key column (complete with constraint) to the CategoryID to a row of the Category table. It's simple, and I have many of them in this particular database.
I am using Linq in Visual Studio 2008 to represent this data in my application. Both tables appear as normal, and neither have anything special in their properties that would indicate the behaviour I'll describe. In the database itself, there are several Product rows which have CategoryID=1. There are two or three that have CategoryID=2. However, when the data is loaded into my application through Linq, iterating through context.Products shows that the first three have CategoryID=1, CategoryID=2 and CategoryID=3, and all the rest of the rows have CategoryID=NULL. This is not how it appears in the database. There are no other anomalies in this database.
I just got Windows 7, so I re-installed VB 2008 Express and have been met with some weird issues. One of which is when my program is running it used to break on a line where an error was occurring and tell what it was and let me fix it and continue. So I can see the error in the Immediate window but why is it not breaking on the line? It just continues loading the program. Is there a setting I'm missing?
I have a .net application that uses customerrors web.config module to display meaningful messages for errors. It works without any issues for 500 errors/exceptions caused by non-ajax and ajax components (updatepanel). However, in a scenario where updatepanel's asynchronous request times out, there is no error raised at all. I was able to see the timeout in firebug and come up with a solution that would at least display the error message as an alert and then redirect the user to the 500 error page using javascript but it's not quite doing what the rest of the application does in case of an unhandled errors like these. I basically just want everything to go through "LogEvent" mechanism so based on the severity of the error, it does the necessary work. This 500 error page doesn't have anything in the Server.GetLastError() for these timeout scenarios. Is this an expected behaviour? Can it be changed so I do have access to these timeouts in Server.GetLastError() OR maybe just run this error through "LogEvent" mechanism? Is there a better/more graceful way to handle this issue?
Below is my code to give you an idea, not exactly what I have in my application but pretty close.
Say you've got a form, Form1, and you're in the Paint event. Is there a way to test to see if, say, the Resize event is occurring from within the Paint event?
So when i build or click debug on my program. No errors come up and its smooth. So i decide to publish my programme. However. I come up with a bunch of errors during the publishing.
Here they are:Error 1 Cannot publish because a project failed to build. 1 1 Simple CALC
Error 2 Unable to copy file "binReleaseSimple CALC.exe.manifest" to "binReleaseapp.publishApplication FilesSimple CALC_1_0_0_0Simple CALC.exe.manifest". The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.
Our solution is built on ASP.NET v1.1 framework. User is presented with login form, so upon providing credentials this information is posted back to the server. Upon postback SessionID changes and our application crashes as some information which is required for processing is stored in the cache and is identified by SessionID string as a part of the name.
This SessionID change happens absolutely randomly and only to some of the clients. Most of the time browser used to view the page and post info is IE8. I cannot reproduce this issue in our test environment, as SessionID is persistent though-out the whole testing process.
I've already checked all solutions, i.e.
Session cache is used on Page_Load to retrieve/store some information, so it's initialized and contains data stored. I've made a Health Monitoring check on Application_End event to capture any possible AppDomain crashes using Reflection and Diagnostics Libraries and retrieving ShutDownMessage from httpruntime object, but that's also not a case. Cookieless attribute of the sessionState in web.config is set to false (using URL to store SessionID is not an option)
All MS security and bug fixes are installed on the server. IIS Server settings are similar to the ones we use in Test Environment.
Protected Overrides Sub LoadForm() MyBase.LoadForm() Try 'StartProcess might be causing an error (error msg is issue with loading config, which would be incorrect) StartProcess() [Code] .....
I can run this 100 times under the exact same conditions and it seems like 40 times it will crash with the following error: "Cannot access a disposed object. Object name: 'frmImportExport'."
It will either die on 'within StartProcess() Dim __Delegate As New _Delegate(AddressOf StartProcess) Me.Invoke(__Delegate) or Dim D As New _Delegate(AddressOf SOPERATION)
The form isn't being disposed manually anywhere that I see, and this code is being executed on formload. It's a subform that is to be displayed within a main form.
I have to make a card game called SNAP. The point of the game is that two players will flip their card and if they match then one of them have to call out snap. The first one to call out snap gets the card.
I'm having trouble on getting the cards to generate randomly but match every now and then.
I am going to create a windows form and add a push button (pretty simple right?) I want the push button to randomly cycle through about 10 pictures and display the randomly selected picture.
A few problems I am facing, 1) I do not know how to do do "randomization" in VB.Net and 2) I do not know how VB.Net would handle displaying an image, would it display on the form i am building or would it display in the default photo viewer for Windows?
how to do this certain section of it. I want it to take a group of first names and randomly pair one with a last name randomly selected from a separate group. something like this:
Group 1-BobJoeBrianJillJorge Group 2-SandersRientzLopezGumpStaudmann then output something like "Brian Staudmann" or "Jorge Gump"
Except I want a significantly larger selection of first and last names in each group. Would it be best to save them in an array? A String? Parse from textfiles?
I'm making a program where the user can choose a question section and the program is supposed to randomly open one of a few forms that contain questions. However, I can't get the code right.
I want to randomly play a video clip "possible different format" on a continues loop. Can I get how long the video will run or when the video has finished so the program knows when to select the next video.
I am interested in making a program to randomly populate gym-exercises from a group of them that I will populate. For instance, I want to be able to check "triceps," and then have "triceps kickback" pop up from a larger group of exercises, and the next time I click it another triceps exercise will pop up.
I am making an application that randomly generates numbers. I then have to find out if those numbers are even or odd. Then place them in the corresponding array ( EvenNumbers() or OddNumbers() ). Then display the random numbers array then the even and odd numbers array. I am up to the point where I have the generated numbers and can tell if they are even or odd, but can't get them into an array. I am trying to do it like this....
I have a form with one richtextbox and one button. The idea is that: Form Load: data read from text file into arrayButton Click: random number generated, then used to select the string whose index number matches the random number generated
My StreamReader is working correctly and I can create random numbers with no problem, but I'm stuck on how I can use this random number to extract the corresponding string. I keep get the error saying QuoteObject reference not set to an instance of an object.
My code is below: Imports System.IO Public Class Form1 Dim questions(69) As String Dim i As Integer [Code] .....
Right now I have a program that checks login credentials against my Access(2003) database. It works, but the problem I'm having is that it's checking if the file.exist to frequently and with no real pattern. How I'm doing it isI have a My.Setting that saves the file path string as well as the connection string, during form_load I check if the My.Setting path string exist, if not then use an openfiledialog to find the file. Right now I have the database in a public drive, which is why I think that my program thinks that the file doesn't exist sometimes. This is how I'm doing all of the above:
'Some global variables commented out 'Dim log As String = My.Settings.loginStr 'Dim logCon As String = My.Settings.loginCon
I have two images on my VB pictureBox one of it is randomly generated on the picBox(to any location) and the other is a normal image that can move around the picBox area using left right up and down buttons. The problem is that when ever the normal picture gets to the random one, it goes under the random picture and the task is to restrict the normal picture from going into the walls of the random one. when it gets to the wall, top, bottom left and right, it should stop moving.
I am trying to make a program that randomly selects a name. i have a prompt that allows me to enter the number of names and the names themselves. but i dont know how to save or open the information into an array... can anyone help me with this?
im trying to make a single image appear randomly at any given time i have tryed to figure out the code for this my self however i have had no success any ideas
