.net - Select Cell In DataGridView By Header Text?

I'm looping through rows in a datagridview, and selecting a cell from the 3rd column each time:
Dim customer_name as String
For Each dgvr As DataGridViewRow In myDataGridView.Rows
customer_name= dgvr.Cells(2).Value
'....
next dgvr
However, I'd really like to make it dynamic, in case a new column gets added to the grid, so that I need the 4th column, not the 3rd. I'd like to use the column's header text. So something like...
customer_name= dgvr.Cells("Customer").value
Can this be done?

I'm trying to render a checkbox in a datagridview column header so that when the checkbox is checked/unchecked all the cells in that column should be checked/unchecked accordingly.The datagridview is bound to a database table but the column containing the checkbox header cell is unbound. The problem is, whenever i click the header checkbox, all the cells in that column are checked but the header checkbox itself gets invisible. If I click the HEADER (though the checkbox is invisible, still I can click the header) again, all the cells in the column below are unchecked and the header checkbox becomes visible and unchecked. Everything is happening as expected except the visibility of the header checkbox. Why is it so?

How can I determine if the user clicked on a cell in the grid, or on the column header? In both cases the CellDoubleClick Handler is called. I want to handle only the first case.

I have been using this code to find the value of the cell in a datagrid view
Dim eRow As Integer
eRow = dgv.CurrentRow.Index
MessageBox.Show(dgv.Item(0, eRow).Value)
This works fine when the columns unless the user changes the order of the column.
So what I am trying to achieve is to find the value if the cell even if the order of the columns is changed. Is there a way instead of saying column (0, eRow) I can add (ColumnHeaderName = "NameHere", eRow) or something along those lines.

I'm using something call ultragrid in my program.The program works as a mini-record keeping area (Like any datagrid, really). Well, I am adding a history to it and it allows the user to see the last 50 records searched. They get a grid showing the records. This, thus far, works perfectly What I want to do is this: I want to select a record (A cell) in the column 'Dog and have the text of that cell appear in a textbox. This is what I've tried with no success.

I have a DataGridView with SelectionMode = "CellSelect". I do this because I want the user to be able to click the Column Header and drag the column to a different DisplayIndex. They move the column by clicking and holding down the left mouse button, then moving the column. I also want the user to be able to click the column header and all the cells in the column would be selected. But if I change the SelectionMode property to "FullColumnSelect" or "ColumnHeaderSelect" the user can no longer move the column.In the code below, I can select all the cells in the DataGridView just fine, but I can't select all cells in a particular Column or Row. I'm using a search code using a textbox then it lists the record on a datagridview if search is successful. After the search, the user could select the record on the dgv in which later on can be edited or deleted. Edit and delete button is disabled when nothing is selected on the record. What I want to know is how to trigger an event to make those buttons to be enabled when a record is selected. By the way my datagridview is connected to my textboxes. My question goes something like this, but this is totally wrong.

Im having a little trouble setting focus on a row in a datagridview. When a user presses the Enter button in my datagrid, a sub is called and the window is closed. Now next time i display the window, the selected cell has moved one row down. This is because when you press enter in a datagridview it jumps to the next line (wich i really dont want it to do). Now then in my forms shown event i placed the code: Datagrid.rows(0).selected = True Now this highligts the first row when the window is displayed, but when you press the down key, it jumps to the third row, because even though the first row is highlighted, its the second row who has focus (because it jumped their after pressing the enter key) How can i set the focus on a specifik row in the datagridview in vb2005?

I am making a program which remembers my last selected row in a data table. I have done this by adding a column with a CheckBox, upon CellClick the CheckBox is checked, and upon ellLeave it is unchecked and the new cell is checked, after every action a Update command is run. There will never be more than one row with a checked cell in the DataGridView,however, the data table is in a relationship with other tables, so there may be more checked cells in the data table itself. My problem now is selecting the row with that cell when I open the program and when changing between other data tables and back again.All solutions I found on selecting a specific cell in a DataGridView are referring to index numbers, and in my case I need it to find a data value in a column, I do not know the specific row, only that one row contains the value of True while everything else is False.

I have a windows application with many forms. We use the DataGridView control on most of the forms, but on a new form that I designed I have four DataGridViews. All of the DataGridViews on this form do not dipaly the Column Header Text when the form is displayed when running in the IDE. I do not receive any errors or messages. The other DataGridVeiws on other forms display their column header text just fine. I am at a loss as to why this is happining on this form.
UPDATE: If I add the desired text to the column.HeaderText property at the end of the form load event it displays the column header text. For example AssignedAmountColumn.HeaderText = "Amount" it displays Amount in the column when run from the IDE.... However it dosn't display when the property is set though the Columns property at design time.

How to change the font color of the column header text in my datagridview if the entire column is read-only. I basically use a loop to add columns to my datagridview and then set the properties of the columns. But for some reason setting the DefaultCellStyle.ForeColor and HeaderCell.Style.ForeColor properties does not work. The header text is still black.[code]...

I'm using the following code to populate a DataGridView with a worksheet. This is working fine, however, I'm unsure how I can get the Text from the page header. (not to be confused with the column header). Later in my code when I am exporting into an existing workbook with a new worksheet, I'm wanting to use the header text as the tab name.
