i want to capture the system logoff time and i have to store the time in .txt file. when ever the user logging in and logging off i have to capture the time and store the time in .txt file.i konw how to use windows services.but how to capture the log off time and log on time?

View 3 RepliesI'm working on upgrading a solution in VB.NET that is heavily based on Active Directory. As of now, I'm trying to add a PC restriction to a new AD User upon user creation. Essentially, I need to update the Logon To attribute to include 1 or more PCs, how do I go about doing this? I learned that I am interested in the IADsUser property "LoginWorkstations" url...). As of now, I have code that can fetch this attribute from any AD user, but I cannot set it. [code]I've tried testing this approach with a different attribute and it works just fine. Not much out there on Google either unfortunately.
View 2 RepliesI am wanting to create a logon similar to the Windows Live logon, so in other words. user has frmLogon and is located in Australia. The user enters his/her details and then the program connects to a server in the United States and checks the Username and Password to make sure it is correct if it is correct it allows the user to logon and move to the next stage, if it is wrong it will give him an error message. I am wondering if anyone has a tutorial or source code laying around that I can rip apart and see how it works. I want to put the database on my server and connect to it from my desktop using the logon form.

Unluckily, I haven't found a way to set the option "User must change password at next logon" while creating a new user account. I use the
NetUserAdd -Function to create the new user. I set the level to 1 and supply a
USER_INFO_1 -Structure . This structure accepts flags, and the flag UF_PASSWORD_EXPIRED seems to be exactly what I want - but when I set it, the user can log on without changing the password first...

On this Windows 7 Professional SP1 machine, when I run the following code in the program
FileCopy(sServer & "loglog.txt", Application.StartupPath & "log.txt")
I got the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."
sServer is 1 of our server machine.
The Windows 7 machine already logged in to the sServer as administrator, and it also login to the Windows 7 machine as administrator. I run the VB program as Administrator (right click - Run as Administrator).
In the Windows 7 machine I can go to Windows explorer and copy the file manually from the sServer machine to the Application.StartupPath folder.
When my application starts, one of the first thing it does is load a list box with data from an Excel file stored on our server.To prevent an issue I had with two or moreengineers trying to load the data from the same file at the same time, I added code that copied the Excel file to a temporary file (which is,hen, deleted when the data load is done).This has been working fine up until last week. View 4 RepliesI'm using MS ACCESS for my dbase..i have a tblborrow where you can find transac_num ..now, i have in my form a label which here, you can see how many transactions you have done already(i'll name it sa lbltransacno) and a save button..what i want now is that.. every time the user save a transaction.. the lbltransacno will automatically go to its next number.. but of course.. the user should fill up the information needed.. if those are not filled up, and he click the save button.. the transaction will not be counted.. how to code it?
View 1 RepliesI created a program with all our clients user name's and password that will be used to log on a web page from our company so i can modify there settings. So far so good i created a form with a combo box to pick a name and then a simple click on the button opens form2 with a browser in it. This browser automatic logs on the page it loads. You should say mission accomplished and we are done........ not yet this stupid page got something nasty in it. If i want to open our clients reports it opens in a new browser and this is something i can't change. So basically what happens if i click the report it opens in the standard user defined browser installed on my machine. This means i get a log in screen again cause my session is in the VB.net browser.

I have a program that allows a user to select a program to run at a certain time for a specific amount of time all choosen by the user. Everything works with the exception of if my program has launched the other program, my program become non-responsive. Meaning I am not able to look at that window again. Not that one really needs too, because when time is up my program closes the program it opened, then closes itself. I just want to be able to see my program when the other program is running. how to do this and perhaps drop me some links, that would be wonderful. This is what I have coded, but like I stated there are no code errors.

I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).
I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?

I'm creating a program and i want it to secretly save when the user clicks on save.
In other words, i have made it so that it saves twice. Once for the user to read (like a fancy copy) and another that the program uses to open up the form.
Currently when pushed, 2 save dialog boxes come up after each other. I don't want this to happen. I want 1 to come up (the user friendly, fancy version) which is the easy part, but i also want the other 1 to save automatically and secretly without asking the user to set the destination.
Im trying to save a file in XML and offer the user a save dialog to appear so they can name the file. The file will save using a custom file extention. in my form i have 4 textboxes and i want all not to be empty while saving the data.I have put condition in save button,when user presses the save button to save data, to check all the textboxes not to be empty. My question is that, i want to focus to that particular textbox which is empty during saving the data.
For example: i have txt1,txt2,txt3,txt4 as textboxes in the form if txt1 is empty while saving, the focus should switch to txt1 rather user himself have to go there.
I have a oracle database. I use the OracleDataAdapter(Oracle.DataAccess.dll) for select, update, insert, delete operations. I don't set any (table) locks on my own(I only start a transaction). I have a oracle table named "test" with the entry "test1".
Now my question: Can Person A read the entry "test1" while Person B is updating/deleting the entry at the exact same time? What happens in the worst case? An old match/empty match or can it cause any kind of exception/error(e.g. "TableLocked-Exception")?

Background: I need to create a user account and Modify it's registry before the user logs on the first time. Creating the account is done by using the Winnt provider (works great). To create the profile I'm trying to use Process.start to launch a process as the newly created user. With the use of loaduserprofile property the users profile gets created and i can do my regwrites without problem.
