Create Logon Using SQL Server Similar To The Windows Live Logon
Aug 20, 2011I am wanting to create a logon similar to the Windows Live logon, so in other words. user has frmLogon and is located in Australia. The user enters his/her details and then the program connects to a server in the United States and checks the Username and Password to make sure it is correct if it is correct it allows the user to logon and move to the next stage, if it is wrong it will give him an error message. I am wondering if anyone has a tutorial or source code laying around that I can rip apart and see how it works. I want to put the database on my server and connect to it from my desktop using the logon form.

Feb 10, 2012I have a user control (SomeUserControl), that I am using in a Main Window. I write my application entirely on SomeUserControl, and Main Window is hosting SomeUserControl and nothing else.
Right now I have a shutdown button (in SomeUserControl), that is supposed to close the Main Window. The reason for this is that I do not want anything from SomeUserControl to close the application itself, but to fire an event from SomeUserControl, and Main Window receives it, and Main Window will close the application instead of SomeUserControl.
How do I do it? I am not familiar with the concept of creating and handling custom events, so if someone could explain it in words and in code as an example, I will be very grateful to you!

I want to close the application when I click cancel in Window 2, but I don't want to do it in such a way that Window 2 closes itself, but by sending some notification to Main Window, and Main Window closes the application.

Mar 29, 2012Windows forms Application. VB .NET 4.0 In my application I have a global boolean variable that keeps track of when changes are made and when they are saved called changesSaved. On closing even it checks the value of this variable before closing the window.. I am using textchanged event to automatically change the value of changesSaved to FALSE when text is changed.. Problem: The group box items are being populated dynamically so the user can edit the values or simply just view them. This dynamic population is causing the textchanged event to fire because the program is changing the text value of the box to put the values in that are stored in the database. The textchanged event should not fire unless the user him or herself enters a value or values in the text boxes..
Is there a way to specify the source i guess you could say for the text changed event or another way so that it will only fire when the user inputs information.??? Functions are as follows: The first is called by the load event to place the values in the box... The next one is the one that is being called as a result of the first one and is also the one that is causing the problems.

Essentially, I need to update the Logon To attribute to include 1 or more PCs, how do I go about doing this? I learned that I am interested in the IADsUser property "LoginWorkstations" url...). Unluckily, I haven't found a way to set the option "User must change password at next logon" while creating a new user account. I use the
NetUserAdd -Function to create the new user. I set the level to 1 and supply a
USER_INFO_1 -Structure . This structure accepts flags, and the flag UF_PASSWORD_EXPIRED seems to be exactly what I want - but when I set it, the user can log on without changing the password first...

On this Windows 7 Professional SP1 machine, when I run the following code in the program
FileCopy(sServer & "loglog.txt", Application.StartupPath & "log.txt")
I got the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."
sServer is 1 of our server machine.
The Windows 7 machine already logged in to the sServer as administrator, and it also login to the Windows 7 machine as administrator. I run the VB program as Administrator (right click - Run as Administrator).
In the Windows 7 machine I can go to Windows explorer and copy the file manually from the sServer machine to the Application.StartupPath folder.

Then, I have created a windows service that does the same thing and it is also working fine(from application perspective). But, I have been trying to add some additional functionality to that new service. It keeps on running as long as System is ON.
But I would like to change the functionality to... as soon as user logs off Service should STOP, and should START when user logs into that PC. I tried to find some useful info online(related to my task) and all I could come up with was to add OnSessionChange(...) method to the service. But for some reason it is not working out for me(when I've logged off or other system events such as 'system lock').

Webbrowser - Clients User Name's And Password That Will Be Used To Logon A Web Page
Feb 18, 2011I created a program with all our clients user name's and password that will be used to log on a web page from our company so i can modify there settings. So far so good i created a form with a combo box to pick a name and then a simple click on the button opens form2 with a browser in it. This browser automatic logs on the page it loads. You should say mission accomplished and we are done........ not yet this stupid page got something nasty in it. If i want to open our clients reports it opens in a new browser and this is something i can't change. So basically what happens if i click the report it opens in the standard user defined browser installed on my machine. This means i get a log in screen again cause my session is in the VB.net browser.
Let me show the code i use at moment that i use to auto log on. For some reasons i did cut out the URL's out of my code. (privacy, security etc.)
