I have a user control (SomeUserControl), that I am using in a Main Window. I write my application entirely on SomeUserControl, and Main Window is hosting SomeUserControl and nothing else.
Right now I have a shutdown button (in SomeUserControl), that is supposed to close the Main Window. The reason for this is that I do not want anything from SomeUserControl to close the application itself, but to fire an event from SomeUserControl, and Main Window receives it, and Main Window will close the application instead of SomeUserControl.
How do I do it? I am not familiar with the concept of creating and handling custom events, so if someone could explain it in words and in code as an example, I will be very grateful to you!
Edit: Here's my code so far.
(in Window 2)
Public Event CloseApp As EventHandler
Private Sub CancelButton_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles CancelButton.Click
DialogResult = False
[Code]....
I want to close the application when I click cancel in Window 2, but I don't want to do it in such a way that Window 2 closes itself, but by sending some notification to Main Window, and Main Window closes the application.
I need a multiline TextBox which is always disabled, but it shouldn't paint itself in gray, but I want to keep its designer choosen color. I previously had the same requirement with an always-black Label (no multiline) and so I inherited from Label like: Imports System.ComponentModel Public Class LabelDisabled Inherits Label Sub New() InitializeComponent() Enabled = False End Sub [Code] ..... But this way, neither I can set the "real" Enabled property, I mean the backing field.
I've got a page (aspx) that contains a usercontrol (ascx). On postback of the aspx, I'd like to read some control values in the ascx. So upon reading some good articles, I created an event in my aspx that fires on postback. The event handler is in the ascx, and simply writes the values I'm interested in to the viewstate so that the parent page can read them. The problem is my event handler never gets hit, even though I see the event is raised as I step through the code. So my code bombs when trying to read the viewstate (which is empty)[code]Oh, did I happen to mention I'm dynamically loading the ascx? :)
I had this new idea for a user control Sliding Bar/Panel. See screenshot. So I quickly whipped it up but I've got this problem that I cannot figure out why it does not work. Because I wanted to make it nice and tidy I desided to use a Class (Header) and created a TypeConverter (HeaderConverter)
Code: Public Class HeaderConverter : Inherits ExpandableObjectConverter Protected SortOrder() As String Public Sub New() SortOrder = New String() {"Text", "Depth"} End Sub [Code] ..... and goes to the RaiseEvent but nothing happens Why?
I know I could put properties on the Container control to access the ctnbutton Control that is embedded into the control but I thought this might be a nicer way.
Windows forms Application. VB .NET 4.0 In my application I have a global boolean variable that keeps track of when changes are made and when they are saved called changesSaved. On closing even it checks the value of this variable before closing the window.. I am using textchanged event to automatically change the value of changesSaved to FALSE when text is changed.. Problem: The group box items are being populated dynamically so the user can edit the values or simply just view them. This dynamic population is causing the textchanged event to fire because the program is changing the text value of the box to put the values in that are stored in the database. The textchanged event should not fire unless the user him or herself enters a value or values in the text boxes..
Is there a way to specify the source i guess you could say for the text changed event or another way so that it will only fire when the user inputs information.??? Functions are as follows: The first is called by the load event to place the values in the box... The next one is the one that is being called as a result of the first one and is also the one that is causing the problems.
I have a control that invoke as : Using frmAssemblies As New MaintainMenuItems.bundleDGV(Me, MaintainMenuItems.bundleDGV.formState.pricingEdits, APSite.xrefID)
I am using VS2008, vb.net, Windows forms project.I have a combo box control on a tab control. The selected value of the combo box is bound to a binding source. The data source of the binding source is a typed dataset.I set the datasource of the binding source when a record is chosen in a data grid control.Since the combo box is bound to the binding source, this should set the selected value of the combo box, and fire the initial SelectedIndexChanged event. Therefore, I remove the SelectedIndexChanged event handler for the combo box before I set the datasource of the binding source, and add the handler again after the datasource is set.
I am using visual studio 2005. i am using webBrowser control to automate third party website. My problem is SelectedIndexChanged event is not getting fired. I used the code.[code]This code is changing the value in combo box but it is not firing the selectedindexchanged event. If i manualy select the item then after selecting a item it shows different message. How should i do it programatically.
I am looking to close the application when I click a cancel button in a login page, but I don't want to do it in such a way that Window 2 closes itself, but by sending some notification to Main Window, and Main Window closes the application. Here's the code that I have so far:
(in loginPage)
Public Event CloseApp As EventHandler Private Sub CancelButton_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles CancelButton.Click
I recently came across the AsyncFileUpload control in the latest (3.0.40412) release of the ASP.Net Ajax Control Toolkit. There appears to be an issue when using it in a hidden control that is later revealed, such as a <div> tag with visible=false.
I have a breakpoint on the UploadedComplete event but it never fires. However, if you take the AsyncFileUpload control out of the <div>, making it visible at initial page render, the control works as expected.
So, is this a bug within the AsynchUploadControl, or am I not grasping a fundamental concept (which happens regularly)?
how can i call a VB function - deleteevent() in usercontrol.ascx.vb from a javascript function in clickhandler(e) in usercontrol.ascx. The call should cause a postback because I need the usercontrol to display the changes.I am currently trying to do it by using a linkbutton with style display:none, and calling its click event from the javascript function. But i dunno how to call the click event.
I've created my own ascx control with button inside it. Now I'm using this control inside other control. (In my case it is a webpart). What I would like to do is program button.click logic from my custom control inside webpart
We have a ASP.NET web application written in VB.NET where we build content programmatically during the Init event. We make extensive use of user controls, building them on the fly, and I now want to start including SilverLight content. Is there an easy way of embedding a SilverLight application in a control, and then instantiating the whole thing in code, in the same way as you'd programmatically add ordinary ASP.NET controls to a page? The SilverLight component itself works fine when added to a page using the <object> tag but I really want to be able to reuse it elsewhere in code.Since I'm expecting use of SilverLight to increase in our application, and the asp:Silverlight control seems now to be deprecated, I'm looking for an alternative way of wrapping the content.
I have a problem to handle an event on a custom control a have on a form.... So first i made a custom control that is just a groupbox with some labels and txtboxes. That control i add dynamically to my form like this (Baycontrol is the name of my control)
Declaration
Code: Friend Bay(29) As BayControl Add the controls to Form Code: For Simindex = 0 To 29 'Me.Bays - 1
Dim L As New Label AddHandler L.Click, AddressOf Labclick Me.Controls.Add(L)
I know how to do click events but how how do i make an event for it that does something when the mouse hovers over one of the Labels?for example if the mouse hovers over a label it changes text color to RED...when mouse leaves it changes back to BLACK?
I'm writing a custom textblock control thats populate hyperlinks and raises event when clicked to hyperlink.
I wrote this code but I got stucked.
My code is :
Imports System.Text.RegularExpressions Public Class CustomTextBlock Inherits TextBlock
[Code]....
This code gives error at RaiseEvent Klik(sender, EventArgs.Empty)
Error is : Cannot refer to an instance member of a class from within a shared method or shared member initializer without an expliticit instance of the class.
I'm using a third party grid control which I took and inherited to create some custom properties and events to it. Now when I tried to use this custom control on one of my forms one of the Events that I try to use keeps giving me an error and saying that the signature of the event does not match. It's only for this particular event and it doesn't give me the problem on every form I use this control on. To fix the problem, I constantly have to clean/rebuild the project with the custom grid control and then clean/build the project using the grid control. I'm using VS 2005 and the grid control I'm using is called iGrid.NET made by a company called 10Tec.
The exact error I get is below. Method 'Private Sub iGridFlightInfo_BeforeCommitEdit(sender As Object, e As TenTec.Windows.iGridLib.iGBeforeCommitEditEventArgs)' cannot handle Event 'Public Event BeforeCommitEdit(sender As Object, e As TenTec.Windows.iGridLib.iGBeforeCommitEditEventArgs)' because they do not have the same signature.
Currently when i add my control to a form and double click it it adds a sub with the handle control.load to the code but i want it to be control.click when i double click it
I was asked to create an application that has a custom control that acts as a button. I managed to do almost all the requirements except the one for the KeyPress event. The customer wants to click the "Alt + C (for example)" to trigger the button click event in this case for a Cancel button. I did the code and it works fine ONLY when that custom control has the focus on it. But when it loses it, it doesn't. I don't know how to make the form accepts that KeyPress and sends to the custom control. I tried to set the form's KeyPreview property of the form to Ture but it didn't work too.
By the way, I know that it would work by writing the code in the KeyPress of the form but that's not the requirement because the user control will be used as a standalone component for many projects.
I'm creating an ASP.NET Custom Control for my web application which is basically an ASP.NET Button control contained inside multiple <div> elements (for styling purposes). How can I create a Click event handler for my custom control so that my control acts as an ASP.NET Button?
Ie.
<cc:Button id="myButton" runat="server" Text="Submit" /> Sub myButton_Click(sender as object, e as EventArgs) Handles myButton.Click End Sub
I've got a dynamically filled datagrid view. When a user right clicks a cell in the datagridview, it opens a context menu, located by that cell. The context menu has two choices: A and B. I want to set the value of the cell to A if they pick A, and B if they pick B.I would like to pass the relevant cell as a field in the event args passed to ContextMenu's ToolStripItem.click. So the handler for ToolStripItem A's click event would read the relevant cell from the event args and set it to A , like this...
Private Sub A_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As Customized System.EventArgs) Handles A.Click e.relevantCell.Value=A End Sub
how to pass a custom event arg. Or if there is some easier way to do this? I can't just use the X and Y coordinates, because the context menu/mouse won't necessary by over the relevant cell.
I have a component class that inherits a user control class and i'm trying to inherit from that same class in a new class.public class B inherits class Unfortunately, I get an error pointing to the .g.vb file saying:Base class 'System.Windows.Controls.UserControl' specified for class '...' cannot be different from the base class '...' of one of its other partial types When I swap the "Inherits System.Windows.Controls.UserControl" with inherits from the base class in .vb files the program compiles but when I try to access any of the components I get an error saying "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."Why is it doing this? it's as if the my sub class isn't inheritingUserControl method at all.
How can I cause the Paint event to fire from a Form_Click() event? This is what I'm trying to do...
Public Class StrTests01 Private Sub StrTests01_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Click Dim ps As Graphics = Me.CreateGraphics()
I made a custom button by inheriting the Button class. When I double click the custom button in Designer, it makes the event handling function for MyButton.Click:
Private Sub MyButton1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyButton1.Click End Sub
I'm trying to build a dial control as a custom user control in VB.NET. I'm using VS2008.so far I have managed to rotate image using graphics.rotatetransform . however, this rotate everything. Now I have a Bitmap for the dial which should stay stable and another Bitmap for the needle which I need to rotate.so far i've tried this:
Dim gL As Graphics = Graphics.FromImage(bmpLongNeedle) gL.TranslateTransform(bmpLongNeedle.Width / 2, bmpLongNeedle.Height * 0.74) gL.RotateTransform(angleLongNeedle)[code].....
As I understand it, the image of the needle should be rotated at angle "angleLongNeedle" although i'm placing the rotated image at 0,0. However, the result is that the Needle doesn't get drawn on the control.
