My web user control is [code]...
The problem now is that the click event does not fire upon clicking at the button.
I have a user control (SomeUserControl), that I am using in a Main Window. I write my application entirely on SomeUserControl, and Main Window is hosting SomeUserControl and nothing else.
Right now I have a shutdown button (in SomeUserControl), that is supposed to close the Main Window. The reason for this is that I do not want anything from SomeUserControl to close the application itself, but to fire an event from SomeUserControl, and Main Window receives it, and Main Window will close the application instead of SomeUserControl.
How do I do it? I am not familiar with the concept of creating and handling custom events, so if someone could explain it in words and in code as an example, I will be very grateful to you!
Edit: Here's my code so far.
(in Window 2)
Public Event CloseApp As EventHandler
Private Sub CancelButton_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles CancelButton.Click
DialogResult = False
[Code]....
I want to close the application when I click cancel in Window 2, but I don't want to do it in such a way that Window 2 closes itself, but by sending some notification to Main Window, and Main Window closes the application.
I need to fire asp.net (link button or Button) click event(server side code) using Jquery, the buttons are in an update panel.
View 3 RepliesI have created two user controls (lets say A and B) and calling then on default.aspx. Both user controls have button named as clear and its event method "btn_clear_click (sender,event)". Actually I like to do something like this: if I click clear button of user control A then it would also do the same tasks defined in user control B's bth_clear_click method. Means, is there any why to call button event of one user control in another user control.

View 5 RepliesI have created in a function, in, lets say, formA :
Private Sub search_name(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Dv.RowFilter = "Real_Name LIKE '%" + Form1.txtRealname.Text + "%'"
If dv.Count = 0 Then
MessageBox.Show("Nothing Found", "Error")
Me.Close()
Else

Public Sub search_name(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)this makes it so that the sub is accessable by all classes, rather than Just it's own.
I found that if you press F5 or refress from browser window, the last event fires again
example, I have clicked on a button, the button event is carried out normally, but if I refresh the page by pressing F5 key the same event is fired again.
Windows forms Application. VB .NET 4.0 In my application I have a global boolean variable that keeps track of when changes are made and when they are saved called changesSaved. On closing even it checks the value of this variable before closing the window.. I am using textchanged event to automatically change the value of changesSaved to FALSE when text is changed.. Problem: The group box items are being populated dynamically so the user can edit the values or simply just view them. This dynamic population is causing the textchanged event to fire because the program is changing the text value of the box to put the values in that are stored in the database. The textchanged event should not fire unless the user him or herself enters a value or values in the text boxes..
Is there a way to specify the source i guess you could say for the text changed event or another way so that it will only fire when the user inputs information.??? Functions are as follows: The first is called by the load event to place the values in the box... The next one is the one that is being called as a result of the first one and is also the one that is causing the problems.

Setting a textchanged event to only fire when text is actually entered by user not program

View 9 RepliesI am using VS2008, vb.net, Windows forms project.I have a combo box control on a tab control.The selected value of the combo box is bound to a binding source.The data source of the binding source is a typed dataset.I set the datasource of the binding source when a record is chosen in a data grid control.Since the combo box is bound to the binding source, this should set the selected value of the combo box, and fire the initial SelectedIndexChanged event.Therefore, I remove the SelectedIndexChanged event handler for the combo box before I set the datasource of the binding source, and add the handler again after the datasource is set.
View 2 RepliesI need a multiline TextBox which is always disabled, but it shouldn't paint itself in gray, but I want to keep its designer choosen color. I previously had the same requirement with an always-black Label (no multiline) and so I inherited from Label like:
Imports System.ComponentModel
Public Class LabelDisabled
Inherits Label
Sub New()
InitializeComponent()
Enabled = False
End Sub
[Code] .....
But this way, neither I can set the "real" Enabled property, I mean the backing field.
I am using visual studio 2005. i am using webBrowser control to automate third party website.My problem is SelectedIndexChanged event is not getting fired. I used the code.[code]This code is changing the value in combo box but it is not firing the selectedindexchanged event. If i manualy select the item then after selecting a item it shows different message. How should i do it programatically.
View 5 RepliesI recently came across the AsyncFileUpload control in the latest (3.0.40412) release of the ASP.Net Ajax Control Toolkit. There appears to be an issue when using it in a hidden control that is later revealed, such as a <div> tag with visible=false.
Example:
Page code -
<%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="act" %>
[Code].....
I have a breakpoint on the UploadedComplete event but it never fires. However, if you take the AsyncFileUpload control out of the <div>, making it visible at initial page render, the control works as expected.
So, is this a bug within the AsynchUploadControl, or am I not grasping a fundamental concept (which happens regularly)?
I have a login control in my asp.net webform i uses the roles manager...i have two roles admin and vendors i want when user enter username and password in login control then on login button click event it validates either the user is admin or vendors if vendor is admin then it will redirect to default.aspx other wise stay on login page with error. ...how to do this using vb.net ?
View 1 RepliesI have a vb.net application that uses Flash movies (AxShockwaveFlashObjects.AxShockwaveFlash). I have buttons in the flash movie. When they first start using the application, they can single click on the buttons in the flash movie and button responds accordingly. But after a while (and I haven't been able to pin-point an exact thing that changes it or my issue would be solved), the user has to double-click on the button in the flash movie for them to work.
View 2 Replieshow can i call a VB function - deleteevent() in usercontrol.ascx.vb from a javascript function in clickhandler(e) in usercontrol.ascx. The call should cause a postback because I need the usercontrol to display the changes.I am currently trying to do it by using a linkbutton with style display:none, and calling its click event from the javascript function. But i dunno how to call the click event.
View 2 RepliesI believe there wont be any diff if user clicks the button on the form and the click event is fired OR if we call the button click event / function in the code. Because in one my project, this does make diff. If I click the button on the form, the App works great but same button if I click it thru the form code, the whole process crashes. This happens in Vista / VB.net.
View 12 RepliesI have created a custom control that has a few labels and a button on it. In my main program i dyanmically add this control to a stackpanel. When i add the control i add a few events for it by doing th e following:
Dim newqueue As New UserControl1
AddHandler newqueue.MouseDoubleClick, AddressOf PrintMessage
How would i go about adding an event for the button.click for the button in the custom control?
The code is listed below which hopefully illustrates what I'm trying to do:[code]....

I would like to recreate the behaviour of a button or command button on an user control. I need to layout a group of this user control on a form so user can select only one at a time. When users click on one of this user controls a selection frame is drawn to indicate that it has been selected. The problem I have is clearing the selection frame when other control is clicked on. How do buttons or command buttons do this? If you layout a group of buttons only one is highlighted. I have tried using different events like LostFocus and Leave and nothing seems to work.

View 1 RepliesI've got a page (aspx) that contains a usercontrol (ascx).On postback of the aspx, I'd like to read some control values in the ascx. So upon reading some good articles, I created an event in my aspx that fires on postback.The event handler is in the ascx, and simply writes the values I'm interested in to the viewstate so that the parent page can read them.The problem is my event handler never gets hit, even though I see the event is raised as I step through the code. So my code bombs when trying to read the viewstate (which is empty)[code]Oh, did I happen to mention I'm dynamically loading the ascx? :)
View 2 RepliesI use VB.NET 2010 I have created a user control which holds a few textboxes, where the user can find articles. This user control is added to several Forms (where ever the search is needed). I have to handle the key down event of the user control, but it isn't working... The usercontrols's Key_Down Event is never fired. - I have set KeyPreview of the form to true, then the Key_Down of the Form is fired.
