.net - Windows.Forms.Listbox Selected Item Font Size Is Changing?
Jan 4, 2011
I have inherited from a Windows.Forms.Listbox so I could override the OnPaint and OnDrawItem methods in an effort to highlight specific items and alternate backcolors. I am also skipping some DrawItem events to prevent flickering.Everything is working fine, however when I select items in the listbox, it looks like the font is shrinking or becoming more compressed. Then when I mouse leave, the font goes back to its normal size and appearance but the same items are still selected (which is correct). During debugging the font never changes nor do any of its properties, but it does end up looking different when the item is selected and the mousedown event just happened.

I'm searching for a way to change the font size of selected text in a RichTextBox (rtf) having different font families (e.g. Arial and MS SansSerif) and font styles (underline, bold...) using the FontDialog, but without changing the families and styles. The following code resets all the font attributes, which is not what I want:
I'm new to VB in Visual Studio 2008 and am just trying out some simple test.I just want to change the Font & Boldness of some text but get the following errorProperty 'Size' is Read onlyI have been browsing the forums and it seems that changing the font size etc isn't as simple as
I'm working on a document editor and I want the user to be able to change the font of a selected text. I have imported the rich text box control from the options menu and place it into my form. I have a list box containing the names of the fonts and when the user selects a item, it changes the richbox's current selected text.
This is the code so far;
Private Sub tmrtextfont_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles tmrtextsize.Tick If lstbxfont.SelectedIndex = 0 Then
In my application I have a listbox and SelectionMode should be MultiSimple because users need to see which items they selected. In another tab we have another listbox this one should show all the selection users had done in first tab. Private Sub
I am after a property that makes a control (textbox, datagrid or other) move according to the forms size. Because some of the controls I got does that, and I really don't want it. I've been looking at them but could not find it
am writing a program in vb.net 2008 ... I want the user to be able to change the font on a different form, however any code that I try and write comes up with the error code property is read only.. I hope I have given sufficient detail... oh one more thing I am trying to use fontdialog from the tool box.
I have a question how can I save in My.Settings only the font name and not the size.I have a form where I can change the font for a label on another form. This works perfect.I can even save it in my.settings.
The thing is though, that on that other form I have 2 labels, thet should have the same font name, but the size should be different. (label1 has font size = 40 (can be changed) and label2 should have a fixed font size (should not be changed)).I tried to use label2.font.size = "14", but font.size is readonly.
I wantt o change the selected item in a combo box if a user enters a name which is already in my dataset. The Combo Box is linked to my database set and all the other text boxes are linked using my databindingsource. How can I do this, I have this code but it does not change it.
vb.net Try Dim name As String = "" Dim inputname As Object = TextBox1.Text
In Windows it's possible to Increase the size of on-screen fonts. We realized that too late and if a user does this our programm is unusable because he can not see all texts and controls. We're bringing out a release and we do not have the time to fix that.
So: How can I disable or ignore this increasing from windows application-wide? I tried setting autoscale to none but it is not working. Isn't possible to ignore that setting for the whole application? How can I do that?I know that this is a week solution because the user has a reason why he wants to increase the font size. But we can not fix this problem within two weeks but want to provide an application somebody can work.
How do I make it so that each item in a listbox can have a different font color? This is the only basic code i know that can change the font color of the listbox items. When I go to add a 2nd item and set the color, the first item in the listbox also changes to that color, I don't want that. ListBox1.ForeColor = ColorDialog1.Color
I am using the following code to change the selected code in richtextbox, but when I change the font from combobox it changes the windows size as well. Whats the problem,
My program has two lists, one a listbox and the other a listview viewed in details mode.
Both of them change heights (get taller) for no obvious reason. I am having to add a call to a method that resizes them to the end of every method, which is kind of absurd, I think. Also, when the window size is changed, these components change size, which means I have to keep track of that.
Edit: I had also thought of adding a timer to handle this.
When a SelectedIndex in a ListBox is changed I would like a textbox below the listbox that gives a description to be populated with the value from a description field in SQL.I have the following code so far, but I get an error that says "Must declare the scalar variable "@ReportName"
You wouldn't think so, but it does when the listbox is bound to a datasource (as far as I can see).
I've reduced the behaviour to the code below. The "if" line toggles between loading a list via data binding and loading a list "manually" (both use the same data table). In each case I set the selected index afterwards, and then change the parent form. With manual loading, the selected index is retained, with binding it is lost. I cannot see how this makes any sense - I don't see why changing the host form should alter any property of the list. Is this a bug?

I have multi select set to false and get this error

I have a form with a list box and a button. The list box is filled with text files from a folder. When you click the button whatever file is selected in the list box is then opened and each line of that file is added as an item in a list box on another form.I'm not sure what to code for if something in the first list box is not selected.
My code follows. I have six items (indices 0-6) and I'm trying to check if one has been selected or not. If not, then messagebox yells at you to select one. If it does, it tells you what you have selected. I'm having a horrible brain fart and contemplated coming here for about 45 minutes as I couldn't get it.
If ListBox1.SelectedItem.ToString <> "" Then MessageBox.Show("You selected " + ListBox1.SelectedItem.ToString) Else MessageBox.Show("Please select an item.") End If
