Setting All Controls Inside A Panel To Visible?

Dec 30, 2009

But I don't know if i posted this at the right place. I am making 40 textboxes inside a panel. And this textboxes I set it to visible=FALSE. Then I have another textbox named txtNoteam in which once the user will enter a number in this txtbox which is less than or equal to 40, those textboxes will be set to true starting from textbox1 to textbox40 depending on the number entered by the user. Example: user enters 3, then textbox 1 to textbox 3 will be set to visible.

I was successful in doing this except one thing, instead of textbox 1 to textbox 3 will be set to visible, it's the textbox 38 to textbox 40 will be set first. This means it will start from the last textbox to the first textbox instead of from textbox1 to the last textbox.

I need your help on what should I do for this to be able to set it to visible from the 1st textbox to the last textbox or is there any other ways of doing this?

Handle Value Change Of Control Inside UserControl Inside FlowLayoutPanel?

Apr 30, 2012

I am making an invoicing application. I have a label (lblCost) inside of a UserControl (InvoiceEntry) inside of a FlowLayoutPanel (pnlEntries). InvoiceEntry represents a line item on the invoice, and pnlEntries is the "body" of the invoice. pnlEntries can hold several InvoiceEntry controls.

I am attempting to sum all of the lblCost values from each InvoiceEntry control to make a subtotal, and I want that subtotal to change automatically if costs are changed (e.g., a change in quantities being ordered). Is there a way to handle when the lblCost.Text property of any of the InvoiceEntry controls contained within pnlEntries changes?

InvoiceAdd.vb:

' Instantiate objects of the various database interaction classes.
Private mCustomer As New Customers
Private mItem As New Items

VS 2008 Accessing Controls Inside A Panel

Jun 26, 2009

I am trying to access controls that were added to the form and created code all before I added them to a panel. Upon form loading I create the form handle into a dictionary. then I call that dictionary ID and add data to the controls. I can't seem to add data to the controls inside the panel.. I think it is something simple. I may just be over looking the method I need to call.

Anchor A Form In Panel?

Sep 18, 2011

I am trying to Anchor a Form (Top, Bottom, Left & Right) in a panel.

I have tried:

frmFnct.Anchor = AnchorStyles.Top Or AnchorStyles.Left Or AnchorStyles.Bottom Or AnchorStyles.Right

This doesn't error but as the parent Form is re-sized, the panel re-sizes but the Form that is loaded in the Panel does not re-size.

I guess I can use the Parent Forms Resize Event and size the form to the panel dimensions but just wondering if there is a way to use built in functionality?

Panel Control And Anchor Property?

Aug 10, 2009

[URL]..I cannot seem to get a regular panel control to anchor Left/Top/Right while place in a FlowLayoutPanel which is docked to a Form. It defaults to a Left/Top position and I cannot seem to get it to anchor to the Right as well either by code or by manual input in the Properties window.

Does this imply that there is an issue with my VS Studio 2008 Express?

.net - FlowLayoutPanel - Automatic Width For Controls?

Mar 22, 2011

is it possible to make the inserted items in FlowLayoutPanel automatic size of the FlowLayoutPanel? Here is an example:

A form with 1 FlowLayoutPanel and 3 buttons inside:

if I resize the form, the controls look like this: they arrange "left to right"

What I want is this: The controls should have the width of the FlowLayoutPanel:

how to do this? I changed the FlowDirection and played with the Anchor property but with no luck.

I could of course Resize the controls in the FlowLayoutPanel_Resize event, but I want to add about 500 usercontrols - I tested it and it is slow.

Each control has: Name (string), Maker (string) and Rated (integer) values.

So what I thought of was:

IDE :: GroupBox Inside TabControl Not Honor Anchor Settings

Dec 3, 2010

I updated a VS2008 vb.net application to VS2010 targeting the .Net 3.5 framework. This application has a windows form that contains a tab control. This tab control contains 6 tab pages. The tab control's tab pages contain group boxes. The group boxes have their anchor property set to Top, Bottom, Left and Right. The tab control's anchor property is also set to Top, Bottom, Left and Right.

When I open this form in VS2010 and resize the form, the tab control is automatically resized. The group boxes inside each tab page appear to automatically resize. If I close the form and immediately reopen it and click through each tab page; the first tab page's group box is resized, but each of the other tab pages's group box has not been resized.

I reported this issue through Microsoft Connect - [URL]. This worked in VS2003, VS2005, VS2008 but was broken in VS2010. I really want the behavior that existed in the previous versions of visual studio. Right now, I have to manually resize each individual group box every time I bring up the form in the designer.

IDE - Set Up Controls Using Dock/anchor?

Apr 20, 2010

I created a basic winform project where I want to handle all resizing without writing a single line of code. I set up controls using dock/anchor. They all work properly, until I add a custom UserControl. When I first press F5, the project works fine. However when I get back to the IDE some (but not all) controls which have anchor right/bottom are resized/moved into positions and sizes not previously defined. Some cannot even be restored as they are moved permanently below the container's boundary with coordinates above 2000. If I fiddle around and test the project many times, all controls with right/bottom anchoring will go haywire eventually.

If the custom UserControl has controls inside with right/bottom anchoring those also get resized in weird ways. Adding the controls again solves the problem temporarily. It is the IDE that moves these controls around since these movements are displayed in the undo stack right after I exit testing the project (however, undoing these steps only messes things up even more).I am using VB 2010 on Windows 7 x64.

Resizing Controls At Runtime Not Using Anchor Or Dock

Feb 14, 2012

I have a code method that I wrote in vb6 that works on every screensize and resolution combo...however vb.net is not letting me do this. Here is what I do. upon form load at program startup I gather all of the data of the controls (height, width, top, left, font
size) prior to the form actually resizing and I store those in a listbox that is not visible. Then when the form resize is called I proportion all of the controls from their old positions versus the new form size.

VS 2008 Form And Controls Resize Using Anchor/Dock

Mar 7, 2010

From this forum I saw some discussions about form/controls resizing issue with different resolution screen setting. Most suggestions are using Anchor/Dock. My application's form has 10 group boxes and some buttons. In each group box there are 5 Text boxes and other more controls. I tried anchor and dock but couldn't make it work. My questions are -

1, How to re-size form and all individual controls as well?

2, If anchor/Dock are suggested, do i have to use both of them or just one? it seems to me there is no big difference between them.

Asp.net - Controls (buttons) Be Set In A ModalPopup Extender Panel That Do Not Close The Panel?

Apr 21, 2009

When a user is editing a given piece of data, they're allowed to add messages/comments. These are stored as child records in a SQL database. Clicking on the Add Message button brings up a panel (pnlMessage) courtesy of the AJAX ModalPopup Extender. This takes some input and, when the "Send Message" button in the panel is clicked (I learned the hard way to NOT make that the 'OkButton' property), the message is stored in the database and an email is sent to the intended recipients. No problem there.

However, I need to be able to allow the user to add new email addresses (so long as they are registered in our database). I have another ModalPopup / panel combo (pnlSearch) that's tied to a button on the previous panel (pnlMessage).

The user is supposed to be able to add an email or click on a search button to populate a list to choose from.

The pop-up panel (pnlSearch) comes up just fine, but clicking the "Lookup" button (which instigates the search and returns a collection of records that the user is supposed to pick from) closes the panel.

Previously, I ran into the problem of having the Button.Click event never firing when I put the Button into the "OkControlID" property (the CancelControlID works fine since I don't want to do anything). Removing the "OkControlID=Button" line allowed it to work perfectly with the Button.Click event firing as expected.

So now I have the Search panel with a button for "OK" and a button for "Search" - but the panel should stay up and visible after the Search.Click does it's thing. Am I missing some property that basically says "don't close the panel when this button is clicked"? Of course, if I bring up the panel again in the same session, the results from the previous effort are there (the search results).

Interface And Graphics :: Dock Or Anchor Controls So That They Resize Themselves Accordingly When Form Is Resized

Feb 12, 2011

we all know how to dock or anchor controls so that they resize themselves accordingly when a form is resized. It works fine till we have rows of controls on left and right size of the form. But what if have three columns (Columns as in visual sense. I'm not talking about any column control containing other controls) of controls? For example a form having a bunch of controls in the left side, a bunch in the middle and a bunch in the right. There may be a few more bunches in the middle. Now while resizing the form, I want the controls to resize accordingly as well as change their positions to make space for the previous bunch of controls that are resizing.I mean, while the user increases the form size horizontally, the controls of the second bunch should resize and at the same time they should move right because the controls of the first bunch are increasing horizontally too. When the user decreases the form size horizontally the same thing should occur in the reverse order.I can manage it somehow using nested splitcontainers but that's too cumbersome. I would like to know if there's some better way to achieve it, like setting some property etc.?

Setting A 'default' Value To Controls (textbox) (loop Controls)?

Nov 11, 2009

I have aspx form with several textboxes. They are populated with values from a table via retrieval of a dataview. If the row count for the dataview is 0, then I'd like to reset the values in all textboxes. How can I loop through all the textboxes and set a default value?I've tried the following, but no sucess.

For Each ctrl As Control In Page.Form.Controls
If TypeOf ctrl Is WebControls.TextBox Then
CType(ctrl, WebControls.TextBox).Text = ""
End If
Next

My first For Loop was using Page.Controls but it returned only 1 count. The textboxes are inside a tabpanel (ajax), so do I have to locate the tabpage and then find all it's controls (for each tabpage)?

Embed A Panel Or Picturebox Containing Controls Or Images Within An Outer Panel Or Picturebox?

Mar 1, 2012

In VB6 I could embed a panel or picturebox containing controls or images within an outer panel or picturebox. If I moved the outer control then the embedded panel would move with the outer panel and stay in the same relative position, which is what I require. This doesn't seem to happen in VB.NET, the internal panel stays fixed in its location, even if I have pasted this panel within the outer container. Is there are trick to this or do I have to code to get the internal panel to move with the outer one? How does an internal container remain embedded within an outer one?

VS 2005 : Getting Control Inside Of A Panel To Appear?

Apr 25, 2009

I have a question about getting control inside of a panel to appear Here's what I am trying to do:I have 2 database maintenance screens done with both details and grid.

Customer
Inventory

I have all the Customer table data on 1 panel control (pnlCustomer) that has textbox and datagridview controls. The visible property is set to True because this is the first UI that I want to appear when the form loads Next I created another panel for the Inventory data (pnlInventory) and I added contols to that in detail and datagrid views. I placed the Inventory panel directly on top of the Customer panel. The visible properly is set to False My intentions are that when the employee selects the Inventory button that the Customer panel will hide() and the Inventory panel will show().

I have tried a number of things but they do not work. What happens is that when the Inventory button is selected the Customer panel and all it's controls will actually hide but the Inventory panel will not appear. If it is opening, then there are no controls visible...and I checked to make sure that the property of all controls in the Inventory panel are set to Visible = true

Here is what I have tried:

' on form load
pnlCustomer.Visible = True ... also tried .show()
pnlInventory.Visible - False ... also tried .hide()

[code]....
