Is there a way that a vb.net program can log intp, using forms authentication, to an ASP.NET (4.0) website I have with user supplied credentials? By that, I mean I have 2 string values for the username and password and source code for the ASP site. After the user is authenticated, in need to upload a file to an ASP.net FileUploadControl page. Not sure if this is the right place to post this though.
I try to make one application that will first show login form (with textbox for username and password) and when I press login client application send request to server side application that make SQL query (local) and return some values and that values will be listed in main form. I try something with TCP chat source codes but I don't manage what I want.
I have been reading through Atheists posts in regards to client-server and TCP client/server connection's. But how do i go about writing a program with 1 client and server where the client side creates a text file.Once the server sees there is a text file it connects and downloads it to itself or the client pushes the text file to the server.Once on the server i will read the text file and put its info into a sql db.
Is that possible to done this? If yes, how to done it?
Client: [Client is made in VB.NET] Add new form: "Login Form" Add new form: "Form2"
[Code]...
if it is "LOGIN" then check is the username and password correct, after that send back to the client that the information is true so the client will show up Form2
if it is "REGISTER" then add new username and password to the server *NOTE: The username and password will be saved in a file
basically i want to create a login to my program which uses the same username and password as windows login.I already know how to retrieve username and auto place it in the username box using
TextBox1.Text = Environment.UserName.ToString
i wondered is there an easy way to only allow access if the password matches up to their logon? i dont know about setting up databases but i dont think this option would work because each member of staff can personally choose their password.
I have been playing around with a chat program - a modified version of Asscotte's P2P tutorial. It works fine using my local address. When I try to login from a different location(and I mean thousands of miles away) I can't get it to log in. My computer is on a router - is that the issue here?.
This is the function I use to get my address.
Public Function GetIPAddress() As String Dim h As System.Net.IPHostEntry = System.Net.Dns.GetHostEntry(System.Net.Dns.GetHostName)
I am trying to make an Instant messaging program for work purposes, and have decided on creating a server and client based system, but I dont have much experience with the namespace system.net.sockets. could anyone possibly link me to some source code or give an explanation of how this namespace operates and put me on the right path?
I need to write a windows service that record user login and logout. The only problem is that the environment is win xp with Novell Client 4.3.1.Because of the Novell client, I can't hook to the SystemEvents.how to hook to the Novell client events?I've found this vb class:
I'm working with the Minecraft Server To Client protocol documentation for a server I am making. It says the packet is 18+ bytes, but I can't seem to figure out what each byte is for.
I am creating a very simple Voting System, that will be use on electing new set of officer in a teacher cooperative...
So I have to create two separate program, a Server Program that will manage all the information in the election and a Client Program where voters will vote their selected candidate...
The election officers wanted that the Server Program will display the Voting Results at real time... So when the Voter finished voting, The Voting Result displayed by the Server Program will also be updated every time the Client Program Insert the data to Database....
An action listener in Server Program that will execute if new data is inserted in a Table in the Database made by the Client Program...
The problem I have is: When I click on cmdListen in the server form and cmdConnect in the client form, both programs won't respond and they crash for some reason I don't know.
Client source code:
Code:
Imports System.Net.Sockets Imports System.Text Public Class Form1
[CODE]...
Code: Imports System.Net.Sockets Imports System.Text Public Class Form1
We are creating a Who wants to be a millionaire style game in VB. Our server is pulling information such as questions and answers from a Access Database and sending them to the contestants (Clients). All transfer of information is directly from the server to each client. One of the "Life Lines" we want to use is "Ask a friend", where one client is able to Instant message another client for a short time to get help on the question.
I had a problem with WebBrowser component. Basically, it works improperly when try to log in on one web-site (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site). I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I created a simple WebBrowser trying to access the indicated web-site. The problem begins. Well, the website loads, but when you go to the login page (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site) and try to log in, it doesn't work. I mean, when I enter the login details the login page just refreshes itself and the login wasn't proceed. The same login page appear with every login attempt. The is the current problem!I check with Google, it works. But, it doesn't work with Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site! Why?
I have been working on a server and client tcp/ip program and am having some issues. I start the server and then start the client, and the connection always fails. I don't know what's going wrong. Here's the
I have been a web developer for a number of years now and I am making the move over to form based applications. I am trying to do what I believe should be relatively simple, yet I have no idea where to start. At home I have a machine that family members tend to use P2P programs, which causes my online gaming to suffer with glitches.I want to create a server and client program.where the client app (on my laptop) consists of only one button, when the button is pressed I want the server app (my Desktop) to kill the P2P program.I already know how to kill/start the application in question.I have previously done something similar but I had used winsock (not in VS2010) and was a long time ago.
1) Sending a value/string from the client app
2) receiving the value/string on the server app
I was told to look into the system.net.sockets namespace, but I haven't found anything on the web or here that isn't a full project / over-engineered "Basic Tutorial" that helps to break this down
I Want To Create A Server Program On My Computer AndClient Program That Can Run On Other Computers, The Client Program Will Connect To The Server On My Computer, But I Don't Know Code To Do This.
I am trying to create a server/client program in vb.net. What I am trying to do is test a battery that is running on a handheld (which runs Windows CE 5) by connecting to a "server" and sending information every 10 seconds or so. I am very new to .NET, and am not really sure how to go about doing this. I want two separate applications running, with the server-side keeping all of the data, since the battery is going to die, and I will lose any information if I keep it client-side. I am also new to networking, so I was not sure of whether I should create a Socket, or if I should try to do something else.
i an encounting this problem that is...my database is unable to access in client pc and its comes out this error: cannot open database "synonym" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'SIDNEY-U1KECH4Tsidey'.
Is there a way to run a program (as a service or whatever) before a user logs in? That way if the computer sits idle for too long the program can shut the machine down to save power? Also can such a program receive messages from other computers so it can be remotely shut down by the person monitoring the lab? I can write the code to receive messages and shut the computer down, but have no idea how to do this before login.
I am making an Email reader program, and I need to use POP3 servers. I learned the protocol so I'll could use winsock for the connections. The problem is, that a lot of servers require SSL connection, and I don't know how to open one...I know there is a way with the TCP socket, but I don't know how......
i made a program that uses sockets to connect the server to client but there is a problem with it when i try it on this ip"127.0.0.1"wich is not a real ip just a loopback to my computer it works just fine when i use my local ip it works as well when i use my main ip from http:whatsmyip.org it doesnt work at all i dont know why it doesnt say an error or an exception but its not connecting so i gave the server to a friend of mine i tried using both his real ip and his local but still not working i dont know why?i mean i am 100% sure of my code...
The client would need to be able to communicate with the server for several simple tasks, such as checking if the file on the client is different from the file on the server. Or issue a "create folder" command. And of course the file transfer itself.[code]...
I'm trying to make a Client that will automatically run a .DLL that I have created and send information over port 80 to my Server program that will take that data and import it into a database for me. Problem is, I don't know where to start as I have never done this before. I want to do this in VB .NET as this is the programming language that I know. What are methods of doing this? Is there sample code out there for something like this? My google searches are failing me.
A better layout of what I'm trying to do:1. Client Runs .DLL, retrieving information from an Excel file.2. Client takes these properties with the data it contains and sends it to a program outside of the local network through port 80, my boss refuses to let me use any other port.3. Server accepts the data and builds its own properties to be imported into my Access Database.4. Repeat over, and over, and over, and over.
I plan for the server application to be a console application, and the client to be a windows form.
I've created a multithreaded application that copies data from one directory to another, and I'm having trouble getting it to work properly on clients' computers. All computers running the software have Windows 7 and the .NET Framework 4.0 Client Profile installed, which is what I've compiled the program for. I have two threads: one does the actual copying, and the other updates the UI on the program. Whenever I run the program on my computer, even if I'm copying 45 GB, for example, it runs fine. However, if I run it on another computer, it will sometimes freeze the entire computer, so then I have to manually shut the computer down in order to use it again. I have been trying to find out why this occurs, but I cannot. Does anyone think he/she can provide me with some ideas as to why this happens and how I can prevent it from occurring?
I am trying to code a client - server program. I have 4 winsock controls on my main form. The client is able to connect to a free one just fine, and can figure out if they are all in use. When testing my program, I found that when I try to send data through a socket, then send different data directly after, it jumbles the data together.
CODE:
That is the code I am using. When the client is connected to the server, and ready for data, it sends the packet "@Ab". When the server receives this packet, It is supposed to send the welcome alert, and then current events posted in the server.
On the client side, there is a message box that is supposed to show the welcome alert, and at the bottom on a status strip, the current events are supposed to be listed.
When the welcome alert shows, it contains the alert text fine, but then shows the packet for the events after it.
I was wondering if it would be possible for me to add a login page to a program that I have made that connects to an online database that my website has (mysql) that stores user names and passwords for the members of my website, so that members of my site could login with their username and passwords to my program, if so, how would I go about doing this?
im trying to add a login system to my program.I have a list of usernames and passwords. So right now i have a form and u enter ur user name and password and if its correct then it should log in Here is my code i have thats not working out
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click If TextBox1.Text = "" Then MsgBox("Username Is Missing") End If
