ASP.NET - Pass The Value Of The TextBox As The Value Of The Whole Control To Use In The Calling Code?
Apr 9, 2010
I created a DatePicker user control (ASP code below, no code behind) which is simply a textbox, image button, and a sometimes visible calendar.
[Code]...
Can I somehow tie or pass the value of the TextBox as the value of the whole control to use in the calling code? EDIT: My actual goal here is to be able to tie the SelectedDate as a parameter of a database query. I was able to select values for the other parameters in a controls dropdown list in a query parameter configuration window.
This code was working consistently, but now...This code works on the first pass. Then second pass it just hangs on Code:Dim tcpClient As TcpClient = tcpListener.AcceptTcpClient() for about 2 minutesThen the code will fork for another pass, then fail.....
I've read thru Iceplug's tutorial on control arrays and got it working. I tried to add a new event by basically copying his click event code and calling it a doubleclick event. I used the proper addhandler and assigned the correct name to my sub. I have the click event changing the background color to blue and the doubleclick event changing the background color to green. The background color does not change to green. Why?
Heres the tutorial with my new code encased in asterisks ...
In VB.NET, it is entirely possible to pass an integer as a string parameter to a method without calling .ToString() - it's even possible to call .ToString without the ()'s. The code will run without a problem, VB will interpret the integer as a string without having been told to. In C#, these would cause compilation errors - you are required to call .ToString() and to call it correctly in that situation before it will compile. Is there a way to make the VB compilation process check for the same things as the C# compilation process? Would it be best practice in a mixed team to force this check?
Private Sub txtOperationCode_Keydown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles txtOperationCode.KeyDown, cmdEllipsis.KeyDown Dim oOperation As COperationOutputTypeBS
[code]....
i wanted that on the form that i am calling in the event :frmSearchOperationCodes I will call txtOperationCode_Keydown event because I wanted that if txtOperationCode_Keydown is executed something will happen upon showing the other form.i have a textboxt, When i encoded a character on the textboxt and the user will press tab or enter automatically a form will be shown with a datagridview showing all items related to the character encoded on the textbox.
how can i call a VB function - deleteevent() in usercontrol.ascx.vb from a javascript function in clickhandler(e) in usercontrol.ascx. The call should cause a postback because I need the usercontrol to display the changes.I am currently trying to do it by using a linkbutton with style display:none, and calling its click event from the javascript function. But i dunno how to call the click event.
I have a project that has some VB code in it that I'm not allowed to convert to C#. I work in C# and not very good at VB, but I am needing to modify that VB code to use some C# methods I created.
For example:
C#: Code: using MGCIS2.Reporting; using CrystalDecisions.Shared;
[code]....
At this line in the VB code (Dim crv As New Tax.Reports.CrystalReportViewer(_rdbc)) it is giving me an error:Too many arguments to 'Public Sub New()'
I have to call a Javascript function that takes 2 parameters and opens a new window. I need to call this function from VB.Net code-behind and I'm not sure how to do this. I can't find any examples of how this is done. Anyone have any ideas?
I am developing a VB net application with lots of TextBox. I need to call a module everytime any of the textbox gets focus. I dont want to write code in every textbox gotfocus event, but a generic code which will call the module everytime any textbox gets focus.
I am trying to create a sub routine that I can use to clear all items on various ComboBoxes on a Form; this is the code I was trying to use [To no avail]:
Public Sub Clear_ComboBoxes(ByVal ComboBox_Name as String) if Controls(ComboBox_Name).Items.Count > Nothing then Controls(ComboBox_Name).Items.Clear end if End Sub
I am writing the code on a seperate module to the Form; which means I can't use ME.Controls; but Form_Name.Controls doesn't seem to work either.
I need to write a DLL in C that is used a plugin for an existing application. The DLL has to be compiled by the Visual Studio 2008 compiler with the following options.[code]It's then linked to applications library's.What it actually needs to do and what's causing me the issues is that within one of the methods it needs to pull data from a sql server 2008 r2. From what I've seen today you wouldn't be able to do this directly in C as SQL Server past 2005 is designed to communicate with CLR languages( C#, C++, VB.Net).It was suggested that I handle all the database communication with a VB.Net dll and then call said function from within the C dll. Most of what I've found on the topic of calling managed dll's from unmanaged code has talked about pinvoke or com wrappers and mainly from the perspective of c++.
I have a panel2 inside a split container that has several user controls loaded into it. Panel 1 has an exit button and I want to call one of the sub routines that is in one of the user controls loaded into Panel2.
Private Sub btnExit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnExit.Click Dim dialogMessage As DialogResult Dim a As New ucTimeTracker[code]......
This line is giving me trouble "ucTimeTracker.autoWriteFileOnExit()"
I am getting (reference to non-shared member requires an object reference).Basically I want the exit button on frmMain. SplitContainer. Panel1 to call autoWriteFileOnExit() on the user control named ucTimeTracker that is loaded into splitContainer.Panel2
I have create a small routine to Generate Tabpages on a tabcontrol, and on each tabpage I have Created a label and a combobox, my problem is that since Im generating them in the code and the name of the two controls change based on an index.. ie. Combobox.name = "cmb" + Index I need to be able to retrieve the selected item from this combobox in order to move on to my next routine.. but I do not know how to reference these comboboxs since there is no pre or defined named for them.
i used v s 2008..i create a windows form application in vb.neti want help in which .........if i exit a sub *check_fill_for_New()* using EXIT SUB then in *bt_Ok_Click* sub not fire a msgbox......but it will also EXIT at half
I have a function that is exported by a C library with the following signature:
extern "C" BOOL Func()
The function is declared in VB.NET code like this:
<DllImport("mylib.dll", CallingConvention:=CallingConvention.Cdecl)> Private Shared Function Func() As Boolean End Function
The problem is that I get an ExecutionEngineException when I call the function from .NET code.
Given that BOOL is typedef'd as int in this C code, should the declaration be different? If so, how should I be declaring this? As Short or Int32? Do I need to marshal the return value?
I am pretty well a novice to Visual Basic 2010 and am trying out the VB2010 express edition. I not the the coding syntax for VB2010 is different from VB6. I'd like well documented code for opening Excel, creating/opening a Workbook, reading and writing data and closing Excel Workbook when I exit the VB2010 form.
I am developing a VB2010 application form which I'd like to work dynamically with an existing MS 2003 Excel spreadsheet that will be provided with the application . The VB2010 form provides some data input for cells in a worksheet (named "Fuels") in an existing Excel Workbook called "carbonfootprinter.xls". Based on the input data, calculations are performed and the corresponding results are output to other cells in the same "Fuels" worksheet. The results are then also graphed in the Excel Workbook. When the application form loads, I'd like VB2010 code that checks if the "carbonfootprinter.xls" exists and is open, if not then it should be opened to receive data input from the VB2010 form and to perform calculations, and finally the VB 2010 application should close the Excel spreadsheet
i got problem how to pass datagrid value to textbox.i have two from. Form1 is textbox and form2 is datagrid.what i want to do is to pass the selected value from datagrid(form2) to textbox(Form1).im using vb.net 2003?
I have successfully set up a timer in visual basic, see the code below. My timer uses case statements and at specific case/time it calls a function, 'ShuttleA'. 'ShuttleA' function, is a function that 'getskeystate', which inturn from the user interface tallies a response in a text box. My problem is that the program runs fine when calling the function at eg; at 10 seconds, case 10. But I want to be able to call the function e.g., at 8 seconds to 11 seconds. Or create a tolerance of e.g., 1 second either side of e.g., 10.
PrivateSub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object,ByVal eAs System.EventArgs)Handles Timer1.Tick Dim secondsAsInteger seconds += 1 Label1.Text = seconds SelectCase seconds [Code] .....
A thread listens for incoming information from a server will add the received string to a custom control (containing a textbox and a listbox, I've called it console). This requires an invoke so I used the following
Dim InvWriteCons As Console = Gary.ChatCons Dim INvWriteText As String = "DEFAULT" Public Sub InvWrite(ByVal cons As Console, ByVal message As String)
We have a VB.NET program that needs to periodically call a function in an external, unmanaged DLL to communicate with our legacy application. We are having a problem with the application (seemingly) randomly not being able to find the DLL with the unmanaged code. Currently we use DECLARE FUNCTION blah LIB for the unmanaged code. Would it be better/more reliable to use DllImportAttribute instead? Or am I missing something else?
I have 2 textboxes on form1 that I want to pass to 2 labels on form2, I used the Get Property to do this but i am getting errors, can anybody show me how to do this, I am new to visual basic
I'm using VB2005 and I got a message error in a runtime: Abstract does not belong to table tblBooks. I don't think that the problem is its datatype. I'm currently using MEMO datatype because I need to load it more than the capacity of string. Is it possible to use this code in order to accomplish it? txtAbstractInfo.Text = MyTable.Tables(0).Rows(Counter)("Abstract").ToString
txtAbstractInfo is the name of my textbox and my field's name is Abstract.
