I'm trying to use two different methods of connecting to a database to edit data, the declaration below is working:
Dim rsConn As ADODB.Connection rsConn.Open("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" _ & Application.StartupPath & "VFMS_DB.mdb;" _ & "Jet OLEDB:System Database=Security.mdw", "Ads", "1234")
but now I want to do the same thing with the declaration below but I keep getting the message "Not a valid account name or password.
Dim conn As OleDbConnection conn = New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" _ & Application.StartupPath & "VFMS_DB.mdb;" _ & "Jet OLEDB:System Database=Security.mdw;Database Account=Ads;Database Password=1234;")
I pretty sure it's because of this ;Database Account=Ads;Database Password=1234; not being correct. I tried ;User ID=Ads;Database Password=1234; and also to make it look like the first statement but neither worked.
My boss has given me an asp.net web application that was done by his former employee. Now my boss has no contact with that employee. He wants me to make some changes in that web application. I went through the application. There is no documentation present for that application . Its a huge application. It contains many directories. I think it was a team work. It has many asp pages, aspx pages, jsp pages, xml pages, css pages, etc... How to understand other person or team's website or web application that was written in asp or asp.net and vb or vb.net?
Looking to make a simple VB form, that has three text boxs on it. One for a users username, and two for passwords. What I want to do is provide teachers with this form, they type in a students username, and if that username is found in AD it enables the two password boxs. Then the teacher can type a new password for that user in the boxes (the second one obviously being a validation) and then when they click save, it updates the AD account with the new password. Any ideas on how to do this? Does anyone have any code?
When a user logs in, we want to run a vb.net program that will determine if the user's active directory account does not have a password. How can I do this in vb.net?
I need to be able to validate the windows password of the account that is currently logged in. I've managed to do this when the unit has a password. But if it does not have a password, passing an empty string does not work. It fails each time.I've been looking around, but haven't been able to find much on this. Does anyone know how to determine if the user password is empty?[code]

I can access the current Windows user, but I want to give an admin the ability to enter an alternate username and password for a different Windows Active Directory Account without having to logoff and log back in. Once the account is authenticated, I need to use it in a connection string to sql server. I know I could do this for a SQL Server login, but this is Windows Authentication only. It was installed with ClickOnce. Is there an .exe file on the user's machine?
I'm trying to change the password of an AD account in our domain. The program is supposed to locate the sAMAccountName property in AD through an LDAP connection, and then do two things. 1) unlock the user's account by setting the "LockOutTime" property to zero and 2) change the password to a pre-defined password in the code. I've got the program unlocking accounts, but I can't get it to change passwords.
I've tried the line "DirectoryEntry.Properties("userPassword").Value = "xxxxx". I've also tried the DirectoryEntry.Invoke("SetPassword", New Object() {"xxxxx"}) but neither of them work. The first one throws no exceptions but doesn't change the password, and the second one will give me the message "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation".
I created a vb application and I'm trying to deploy it. However, it needs to be run as administrator, which is not ideal as several machines I'm deploying it to can't access the administrator account. The odd part is that the development environment isn't on an administrator account. When I double click the compiled executable it runs fine. When I right click and choose Run As Current User the program crashes and gives me the same error I got when trying it on the target machines(without access to the administrator account.)
I am creating an application in vb.net that accesses a database on a drive that other students do not have access to. The program will not run correctly if it is run under one of these students accounts. How can I make it so the program will access the db under any account?

I'm trying to screenscrape a website that requires a POST login authentication. I can authenticate fine on my first request, but when I attempt to turn back around and hit the next page, I get a redirect back to the login page (basically it's saying I'm not logged in).

I notice two things... first, the ORA_WX_SESSION has its quotes stripped from it (even if I attempt to force them back in between response and request). Also the XYZCustomerServiceUserName and XYZ values are stripped. Other than that, the session information is identical between the two connection attempts.

I am using Stanav's PdfManipulation2.AddImageToPage(..., Pages) for iTextSharp library (v5.1.3) and was not able to add the image to specific pages: e.g. to add to only page 1 and 3 of a five pages PDF
Dim Pages() As Integer Pages = New Integer() {1, 3} PdfManipulation2.AddImageToPage(..., Pages)
Calling AddImageToPage() with the the optional Pages parameter will add the image to all pages though.
I have a form on a .NET webserver using aspx pages with the vb code-behind pages. The form collects the entered data and then emails it, that part works fine.Right after it gets emailed, this code checks to see if the email was sent or not and then updates the landing page accordingly. I used to use just an IF THEN statement, but now that doesn't work in these new .NET pages. Here's the end of the code that I am having difficulties with:
I have heard of setting server specs to have HTML pages parsed as PHP pages by changing the .htaccess or httpd.conf files. Is there a similar solution to have HTML pages parsed as ASPX pages?
A website I am working on does not want their PageRank to lower since their HTML pages are already indexed and used on other websites but wants to use some dynamic features of aspx pages (like include the navigation file so that changes to the nav will only have to be done in that one file).

My first project is a grading system for a certain school. In my login form, there's a Forgot Password button. In the Forgot Password form, the user is asked to answer a secret question that he filled up upon registration, and if the answer is correct it will lead him to a Change Password form. My problem is, I don't know how to get then delete and then replace the password of a certain user.
I thought I postet this yesterday but I can't find my thread so if this is a duplicate please point me at the original one. Background: I need to create a user account and Modify it's registry before the user logs on the first time. Creating the account is done by using the Winnt provider (works great). To create the profile I'm trying to use Process.start to launch a process as the newly created user. With the use of loaduserprofile property the users profile gets created and i can do my regwrites without problem.
I thought i am doing fine with my project..The access level is fine.. when i login as "ADMIN". I can change the password.. But for other users, if i click save nothing happens but if i click it again it will save(In my savebutton event the txtbox is cleared if saved)
Here is the code for my login(this is the access level part)
If reader.Read Then Dim access As String = reader.Item("Position").ToString Select Case access Case "ADMINISTRATOR" Me.Hide()
