Access Db Date Format, How To Strip Off First Digit
Mar 8, 2011
I have a strange issue here. I am working with an access DB that has a field called CompleteDate. Here is my problem; There is a leading 1 in the dates. For instance, today's date format should be 110308 however, in the database the format is 1110308. How can I strip off that leading 1? Can I do this in access or, must I deal with this in my VB program?
I'm creating a VB app that uses the Infragistics UltraGrid to display data from 2 JD Edwards files. Before the data is displayed, first I need to convert 2 date fields that are in JD Edwards Julian date format (i.e., 111158 for 6/07/11....the 158th day of this year) to mmddyy format.

I just finished this application where you enter a five-digit credit card number, with the fifth digit being the check digit. everything seems to work except, I can't seem to get it to determine that any number is "valid". Every 5-digit combination that I enter returns "The credit card number is not valid". Im using visual basic 2008 express
The purpose of my system is to calculate the number of motors (stored in a microsoft access table) that is being sent for repair according to the months. This information will then have to be displayed in a form developed in vb2008.
Below are the coding used:
Public Class FormReportMonthlyOverhaul Dim connstr As String = "Provider= ..Database.mdb" Dim rowIndex As Integer = 0
[Code]....
The Start_Date column in the MotorTable db is of 'Text' format. I have a feeling that the there's something wrong with the sql. That is why it returns 0 value.
I have a textbox pulling an 'entryDate' field from my table using databinding. The field in the database is set to a 'Short Date', however when I bind that field to a text box and run the app it appends "12:00 AM" to the short date from the Db.
How do I get my databound textbox to simply display the short date which exists in the table?
example: inside regional date format setting i set "Short date format dd/MMM/yyyy" and inside vb.net program i set "strSQL = strSQL & ",'" & Date(Date.Now.ToString("dd/MM/yyyy")) & "'" ----> working fine. if user changed the regional date format setting to other format like "mm/dd/yy" facing problem during saving record into sql table. error date conversion. It's possible to avoid using computer regional date format from vb.net? or have any other way...
I am working on a project inwhich I want same date format in all project forms. I want to use a form for setting/resetting date format for whole project. whenever I will change date format in this settings form, there should be this new date format available in all forms. how can I implement this?
I am trying to alter a column in an Access database in VB2008 from date to text format using the SQL string as follows "ALTER TABLE receipts ALTER COLUMN Date CHAR(10)"but whether I Use TEXT, CHAR, VARCHAR or STRING, I get a Syntax Error when I run ExecuteNonQuery.
I am trying to format a Function Code so that it returns a 4 digit result no matter the entry by the user (i.e. they enter 540, stores 0540 in the database). While looking online, I've found the format function, but when I use it, it returns 540, regardless if I enter 540 or 0540. [Code]
My another question is in txtlani textbox I have to enter only digit i.e. 0 to 9 and currency formate i.e. 1,000.00 and 1,00,000.00 it is possible in text box.and another text box which I have to enter only date i.e. at run time in the text box show dd/mm/yyyy formate and I have to enter by user to enter date not to be left blank i.e. how it will show in the back end not null in MS access on both the text box?
these are dates. They have been given to me by data dump into and xls. I am reading in the values into my app and need to run date calculations on them.
I'm supposed to write a program that validates an inputted ten digit ISBN number using the check-digit at the end to ensure that the sum is a multiple of eleven. Before calculating this and detecting if the entered number is indeed a valid ISBN, we're required to check the first nine digits and see if they are indeed integers. After this the tenth digit is checked to see if it is "X" (for ten) or 0-9.
With the code I've written it keeps returning false for whether or not the ISBN is valid, even with valid numbers. I feel like its something to do with the hyphens; have I misused the replace function?I'm a little lost on how to make my code work, but I'm fairly certain my logic is okay so far.
I need to take a string formatted like '010711' (DDMMYY) and put it into format '01-Jul-11'. Ive thought about doing something like string.toArray and then having some conditionals that format from there but am looking for an easier way.
When retrieving rows from an SQL Server table I use the following code select mydate, Customer, Details from sales where mydatetime >= '" & format (somedate, "MMM d, yyyy h:mm:ss tt") & "'"This works fine unless the clients computers windows Region setting is 'English (New Zealand)'The default time format in windows Region and Language for New Zealand is [code]On computers with this region setting I get an SQL Error 'Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string'..If I manually select the other option for AM symbol, PM symbol in Region and Language i.e AM PM the all works fine again..What format string can I use so that above code always works, even if the Region time format is a.m. / p.m.
I'm making a project that randomly picks a number from an array, but if it picks a number less than 10 then the number is a single instead of a double.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim N(2) As Integer N(0) = "0" & 1 N(1) = "0" & 2 N(2) = "0" & 3
I am attempting to import data in a batch from an Excel Worksheet to a Sql Server database. Everything works except for the one date field in the spreadsheet. The date returned is off by four years from the value in the spreadsheet. Example: The Excel sheet has a date 10/24/2010 14:18, but when I look at the column in my query, the date is 10/23/2006 2:18. This pattern, 4 years and 1 day earlier, is repeated for every row in the worksheet.
The Excel column comes to me as a custom type, formatted m/d/yyyy h:mm. I receive this from an outside vendor and having them change the column is not going to be my simplest solution.
For what it's worth, the relevent part of the query is:
