I developed a Visual Basic Program in my laptop. I can run the program form my C Drive and works perfectly.
Then I put the program in a Share Drive and:
1. If I run the program from my laptop but in the Share Drive I get this Error[url]...
2. If I run the program from my desktop and the Share Disk it is works perfectly.
3. If I run the program from a different user desktop and the Share Disk I get this error[url]...
I suppose it is a Security Issue or something like that but I am not totally sure and I do not know how to fixe it.

What is the best and fastest way to find the exact location(Drive/Folder) of a specific file, without scanning the whole drive. Right now, I am using those two instructions to locate EXCEL.EXE so I can properly call it with a shell command.[code]It is quite a long process, and I have to deal with some access denied folder like System Volume Information. I am quite new to VB programming.

I am looking for a way to possibly intercept the point that a file is being accessed on a network share. Specifically before it is determined whether the user has access to the file or not.The goal will be to grant access to that file if the file request is coming from a specific process and that user currently does not have access.

Im am writing a simple console app that will check and see that a file exists and then if does it will copy the file and move/paste the file into a new location. The file I'm checking exists as a file share on a server and I am wanting to move the file to a folder on a local machines C drive.
I'm working from my machine which is on the domain where the file exists and I'm logged in and have full admin rights on the domain. I can access the file share but when I run my app it gives an error saying access to to the file path is denied. My question is even if I'm on the network do I still need to provide username and password credentials to make this connection? If so how do I do this?

I spent quite awhile trying to figure this out and not one single combination of path strings let this happen.
I usually error'd with the path is not found, part of the path could not be found, or wrong user name and password.
All I am using is the <asp:fileupload>.

I wonder if it is possible to find a specific row and specific columns in data base file (Access) . You see , I am using a DataGridView control to show only SOME of the columns (fields) of a table from an Access file . For example , lets say that in the DataGridView control I only show the following fields :Field1 , Field2 and Field3 .Now , when the user selects an entry in the DataGridView control , I want to insert the text from Field4 into a text box on the form .
The problem , however , is that I don't know how to get the specific row in the data base file and also I don't know how to get the text in column (field) Field4 of that row .One thing that might be important is that the index of the row in the data base file is not necessarily the same with the index of the current row in the DataGridView control . This is because in the DataGridView control the rows are order by the contents in the ID Field .ol .

I came in recently with VB.NET and have created some very simple programs e.g. specific calculations that I would like to share with some people (for free), because they have found them useful. I am not to sure with the law on this. Is it legal to distribute my own work and how will I identify it as my own because some wiseguy could claim it's his own and I won't be able to prove it.

1.) I dragged my detail view over to the form window to create a bindingnavigator, fields, etc. When I press save on the form, the database is temporairly saved. However, if I save my visual basic project, I lose all the changes I have made to my database. Is there a specific save command that updates the access file permanently? The default command added by dragging over the dataset does not work.
2. My database is accessed with the following string:[code]However, doesn't this mean that the database MUST be placed in that specific folder on any PC? Is there a way to simply build the database into the compile so the program automatically generates the database when installed on anyones computer?
3.) This might be fixed by fixing the previous two issues, but if I compile my program and try to install it, I get an error message "Could not download the application. The application is missing required files."

I have a .NET application (VB.NET) that runs against a MS Access database. Every data request connects to the access database, runs and returns the query and closes the connection back again. I placed the database on a windows xp 32-bit machine. I have two clients on which I installed the .NET application. Both clients are running windows 7 professional 32-bit. Now I have a performance problem with this.
When I use the first client it runs fine. All data is shown very fast. When I than use the second client, it takes some 10 seconds to connect to the database, fetch the data and close the database connection. When i ask for other data on that second client, it all runs fine, until I request data from the first client than back again. Than it takes again 10 seconds on the first client before my data is fetched.

I am developing an Application in VB.Net 2.0. I have a module which would copy files from the Local Machine to a shared folder on remote machine. This shared folder on the remote machine is an authenticated folder. So, after searching on the Internet I found the following piece of code.[code]Another point to note is that when I connect to the File Share using Windows Explorer and then try to execute the application, it works properly.I am not sure why I am getting the error when I do not connect to the Shared Folder using Windows Explorer.Do I have to set some property so that the Credentials passed in the authentication are used.I also checked some posts that suggested setting up Mapped Drive to the Shared Folder on the Local machine and then to copy the file using IO.File.Copy function. However, I cannot use this as this Remote Folder should be only accessed through the application and not in any other case by the User. The users will not even have the credentials to this remote Server as it will be configured by the admin. So, Is there any way in which I can set this up and transfer the files from local machine to a remote shared folder?

We have around 2000 staff. Each has a shared drive to store some of their files. This shared drive points to a central location on our network.[code]...
Each user will have a folder within the root "ournetwork" labeled with their username. I do not have to worry about the directory creation as that's already done for me. These users are all tied into our AD for authentication. Folder name == AD username.
We would like the ability to allow our users to access their mapped "F" drive from outside our network through a web page. I understand that the programming involved (assuming it comes to that) will not rely on their mapped drive but rather the UNC path as posted above.
I am open to suggestions on how to get this accomplished. ASP.NET? Is there just an IIS solution like WebDAV? (although client-side WebDAV on win 7 seems to be broken, so that may be off the table).

I've got a Samsung Q1 attached to my computer, and I was hoping to use the FileInfo / DirectoryInfo objects to access the file on the device, however what I right click on a file in windows explorer I get a location of COMPUTER/Q1/DATACASTS/mine.mp3, and when I feed this into the DirectoryInfo object I get "Invalid network drive"
Something tells me I'm going about this the wrong way ... Is there a differant object I shoud use, or is my location string incorrect in format

I am trying to run a visual studio 2010 app from a windows 2003 server machine that writes xml files to a folder stored on a remote windows 2008 server. I mapped the server drive and can access the folder manually but in the code the 'access is denied' error is hit when the file path declaration is hit for that 2008 server folder. I checked the access writes to that folder and made sure it is shared for that user. Also the user I am logged into on the source server has admin rights so should it not be able to access the mapped drive through the application? How do I grant my app access to that or any folder on that drive on the remote server? I had this issue before but cannot remember what I did to clear this up.
