Is it possible to make a procedure have a single parameter but the values for that parameter are more than one? I have this procedure:
Public Sub autoComplete(ByVal cboCombo As ComboBox)
With cboCombo
.AutoCompleteMode = AutoCompleteMode.Append[code]....
Now I was wondering if there is a way to use it like this:
autoComplete(myCombobox1, myCombobox2, myCombobox3)
Or can I use a procedure like this with 'With...End With'?

I have a method which requires a parameter to be passed in. I would like to use the Addhandler to call the method through a dynamically created button control's click event.
When I include () in the AddressOf, VS complains: 'AddressOf' operand must be the name of a method (without parentheses).
When I exclude the brackets, VS complains: Method '...' does not have a signature compatible with delegate...
My code:

One of the things that I think is really cool about VB.NET is how built-in functions and subs have extra help text in their ToolTips like "Expression: String expression to search for replace string." as well as the usual "Replace(...parameters...) as string" text. So are the pop up boxes with things like "CompareMethod.Binary" or "CompareMethod.Text." And finally I like how some functions and subs have different sets of parameters for the same routine. For example, New FileStream() starts with either a path (string) parameter or handle parameter, but none of the 15 sets of parameters contain both path and handle parameters. Is there a way that I can set up the classes and functions I write to use these things or do they only work with built in classes and functions? If there is a way, what are the proper names for them so I can look them up in the VS/VB documentation? I would be happy enough if someone would give me an example of them, but it would be nicer if I could go through the documentation and find out if there are other cool things that are related or near by.

I have a vbscript that runs under asp page. I need convert the code to VB.NET
SET objCommand = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Command")
objCommand.ActiveConnection = Application(DB)
With objCommand
[code]....
What is the VB.Net that will do exactly the vbscript does? I like paramer(0) and 1 and 2 etc since I don't need to define the parameter(0) as integer or varchar etc. I remembered I have discuss this before and it is possible to do in VB.NET?

I've got a handful of dynamic controls populating an ASP page, with VB.NET in the back-end.What I need is when the user changes the .TEXT value of a textbox and the page posts back, the .TEXT value of a Table Cell changes to reflect that change (it multiplies the value of the textbox by the value of another cell). But a Table Cell can't be set to AutoPostBack, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to programmatically refresh the page (force a postback) in the TextChanged event for the textbox.

I am simply searching how to obtain errors/warning for each function/member that isnt documented. Im pretty sure I managed to do this on one of my projects, but cant find how to do it here on my workstation. I have looked into the project props, the solution props, but cant find it. I must have missed something, or maybe I could do this at home with an extension.

So, my application has multiple text boxes for entering different numbers. Only numbers..
One problem I've run into is that I get an error when a textbox is totally empty. If I throw at least a zero in there, it works fine.
How would I make a textbox display "0" when someone deletes everything in the text box? I don't want it to be empty, I just want it to show zero.

I have written an application for a customer, and the application is run in various locations around the world. The company carefully controls the release of the software to the various buildings where it is being used, and because of this, I have made use of the "Check for updates" feature. The problem I am faced with, is that the folks using this software more often than not answers "NO" when prompted to download and install the latest version of the application. This is unacceptable and ultimately, we'll need to go in and have them manually install the software.
We don't publish updates to the software w/o meaning for them to be necessary, and I find it hard to believe that Microsoft doesn't recognize this sort of thing as being needed when they designed the update procedures. Alas, this seems to be the case.

I'm having an application which has to perform exporting and importing data. At the moment he runs those functions, I want a form to popup with an animated gif, so my client sees that the application is still running. But the animated gif stops sometimes, because he is busy doing stuff (like copying files, etc...)Is there a way to tell the form to refresh automatically every 0.1 sec, so the image runs fluidly. I tried to put a timer in my form, and start the timer as from the form is shown...the timer_tick says he has to refresh, but he doesn't want to do that.

I am having a bit of trouble converting a single stored in a string as four hex values. I believe my problem stems from some Unicode hex values not matching the corresponding ASCII hex value above 0x7F (127). For example, I have the following single stored in a string; "518.42" or 0x44019AE1. The char that would contain 0x9A if the data type were ASCII contains U+0161 which will not convert properly to a byte array. My question is: Is there any way to force a string to be of ASCII rather than Unicode? Or maybe there are other recommendations? For reference I have tried both of the following. The first throws a format exception and the second converts to the wrong single.
Private Function ConvertHexToSingle(ByVal hexValue As String) As Single
Try
Dim iInputIndex As Integer = 0
Dim iOutputIndex As Integer = 0

I have a DataGridView which I AllowUserToAddRows behavior enabled. I want to be able to force that only one row be added at time, then if the user clicks the save button the row is inserted into the database, and then another row may be added if the insert was successful.
The reason I want to do this is to get the last inserted id and insert that information into another table.

I'm wondering this, as I use mousekeys for gaming, and, I have found the only way to use mousekeys to effectively is to use stickykeys to force the ctrl key down. I was wondering if there is a way via visual basic or another language to get around this without completely recoding mousekeys?

I want to only allow editing of one column in my DataGridView, but I want to allow the user to double click on any item in the row, and when the CellBeginEdit fires, force editing of my colum. I started by doing this:
Private Sub dgvCaptions_CellBeginEdit(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellCancelEventArgs) Handles dgvCaptions.CellBeginEdit
If e.ColumnIndex <> COL_CAPTION Then[code].....
But this throws an error in the BeginEdit(False) line because 'Operation is not valid because it results in a reentrant call to the BeginEdit function.' which of course it will do, but that is what I want. Is there another way to do this?

Is there a way to force a form to reload itself? The reason I ask is I have a listview that shows the data from my database. You can add information to the database from another form but when you go back to that form the information is not updated because the information updates on the form load. So my question is there a way to just do the form_load event again?

However, I only want this message to be displayed AFTER all of the client side validations have passed. How can I do this? Essentially, I believe that I need to force Page level validation from the client and then, only if it passes, display the confirmation box.

Is it possible to force a combobox to run it's validation event without moving the focus out of the ComboBox?
I need the event (or an event) to trigger when an item is selected with the mouse or an entry is typed into the combo box. I tried using SelectedValueChanged and SelectedIndexChanged however, these events do not fire if the user types a value that does not exist in the list source. I know I can change the DropDownStyle to DropDownList however, I still want the users to be able to type entries in the combobox (with auto complete).
