My program has an access database with a table called "Contacts". This table stores many values. I have a seperate table that stores surveys. Each contact should have a column for every survey, indicating whether or not the survey has been completed. However, this means I need to add columns to the database while the program is running. I tried the following code, which runs WITHOUT errors, but does not seem to actually add the column.

I have already binded a data source from Access to my visual basic program but need to add a True/False column to two of the tables. I could do this manually in access and re-bind the sources but that would take up too much of my time so I wanted to know if I'm using the proper code to add a column to the data table directly from VB? Here is the code I want to try but I don't know where to place it?
I'm not sure what goes into the "something" parenthesis and where this code must go. I already tried editting through the data designer but although it shows the column in the DataGridView, it does not save any data or the column into the actual access file.
Im trying to add columns to my database through VB.NET. I have a MS Access database (MDB format). It has a table in it called "TestTable" and that table has only one field in it "FirstField". It has no data in it yet. I want to add columns to it first and then fill data.

We're trying to work out some code for saving from a textbox to a database field without using DataGridViiew. We have it working using the automated controls that Visual Studio gives us, but if we have a form with text boxes, can we make it so that, on a button click, it dumps that stuff into a field in a table?
I have my project all set up but I can't seem to fiqure how to put the Access Datbase on it. I am running Windows 7 OS and I am working with VB 2008. I select SERVER EXPLORER and connect to a Data base and choose Access Database file. I click browse and I can find anything.
I have a program for school that links to a database. They are listings of real estate and in the browse of the database I have pictures that can be scrolled through as well. The pictures are added to my access database as OLE objects and then just linked to a picturebox to be displayed. However, I'm wanting to add another functionality and allows the user to upload a picture that can be added to the record as well. Experimenting, I've tried just addressing pictures from my.resources but the errors I get are... "Type System.Drawing.Bitmap cannot be converted into1 dimensional array of Byte". When looking at my dataset as well the datatype for the picture Looks like a series of 1s and 0s.. So essentially I guess what I'm trying to do is convert a picture into an array of bytes so it can passed back?

I have been trying for a month to get a row added to an Access database and can not do it. I have the databindings all set and can select different records, but can not add a new one. I have tried BindingSource.AddNew.row() but can't figure out how to add data to the new row, nor does it show in the database.

I'm using vb2005express for forms (front-end) and ms access database. I have a form with a master-detail setup. The problem I'm having is that when I set the primary key column to autonumber, I don't get the pk value generated in ms access database into my master datatable in forms when a new record is created. Then I tried setting the AutoIncreament to True in the pk column of the datatable in my dataset (forms). This generates a number in my pk column but its not the number generated in the database (since I think because the pk column is still set to AutoNumber). So I change the field property of my pk to Number in the access database and on my dataset (forms), i still have AutoIncrement to True.
This works okay since what it seems to be doing is getting the max value for the pk column when the datatable is filled upon form load. The problem now is that I normally don't do tableadapter.fill(datatable) at form load since I think there would be a performance issue if record counts around millions. What happens now is that when I create a new record, the pk generated is still 1 which will cause duplicate violation when saving to database. I'm not quite familiar with access features but in oracle, what I do is I create a sequence in database then I create a function that gets the next value of the sequence. Then at form load I set the datatable.column.default_value = get_sequence. How do I do this in ms access?
I've been having a problem adding a record to an Access database using datasets and da.update etc. I'm trying to create a simple program that displays the records of a database table in a series of text boxes. I've managed to get my next and previous buttons working correctly and my update button works correctly too. The problem occurs when I try to add a new record. I am using a query in vb.net, database is Access.
