Aesthetics - Programme - Compares Prices And Terms Of Up To 10 Bidders And 500 Line Items In Mixed Currencies

May 3, 2011

This is not a problem, as my code works correctly, but a question of aesthetics. I have written a programme which compares the prices and terms of up to 10 Bidders and 500 line items in mixed currencies. For this small section of the programme, I paraphrased a jmcilhinney CodeBank example; his looked neat, mine looks ugly.

Public Class frmFinalize

Private Sub BackgroundWorker1_DoWork(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.DoWorkEventArgs) Handles BackgroundWorker1.DoWork

Aesthetics In A Form - Two Columns Of Radio Buttons, Both Running Down Vertically, Next To Each Other

Sep 17, 2009

I am making a calculator of sorts, and have two columns of radio buttons, both running down vertically, next to each other. I'd like to make a simple line that seperates them, serving no purpose but to make the form look a bit more use friendly. How would I do this? All I want is a straight line, but I can't find out anywhere how to make one.

Asp.net - Format International Currencies?

May 6, 2009

I have an asp.net application that we are in the process of "globalizing", I have the currentculture and currentUICultre being set to the appropriate values and currencies are displaying as expected using the format currency ie.

FormatCurrency(_nPrice) produces $xxx.xx for en-AU and £xxx.xx for the en-GB, however we need to distinguish the currency of the value is being displayed in, other than the symbol because a lot of currencies use the dollar sign. For example we need to display US$123.12 for the States or A$123.12 for Australia. Is there an automatic way of doing this like there is for the symbol.

Created A List Box And A Combo Box With A Number Of Different Currencies?

Apr 19, 2009

I'm very new to programming with Visual Studio(just a few weeks). I've read through a beginner's book and I've started to write my first little programs to get used to coding and to improve my skills. One of the first programs I had created was a simple currency converter. I've created a list box and a combo box with a number of different currencies in them and I want to know if there is an easy way to attach a value to each of these selections. For example, if someone selects British Pound in the list box and Indian Rupee in the combo box, I want to be able to have the British Pound be worth 1.67(versus the dollar) and the Rupee to be 25.00(versus the dollar) for example so that I can create a simple function that will change pounds to dollars and then to Rupees so that I can do this calculation with a multitude of currencies. If you have some idea of how I can attack this problem,

Write A Program Which Compares The Difference Between Any Date In The Past And The System Date?

Mar 6, 2009

I'm trying to write a program which compares the difference between any date in the past and the system date, showing how many days have elapsed since that date.This is what I've got so far:

Code:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub TextBox2_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
End Sub

[code]....

That's what it looks like so far. I was wondering how you can automate the top label so it automatically comes up with the date when the program is run.Plus, I need to know how to display the dates difference (how many days have elapsed between the system date and the user's chosen date) in the bottom label.

Sum Prices From Different Forms?

Dec 25, 2010

I want to do a project in vb.net 2008 using database from MS Access 2007. I have to go from the main menu to the other forms, in each form I have to select one or more items, each item has a price (should be taken from the database *.accdb), then I have to return to the main menu, click the cost button to find the total cost of these items.

1. Where I have to write the code to access my database, in the main menu or in each form individually? and how to write it? I used the code found at:

http:[url]......

but after DEBUGging told me that it cannot see "Table1"?

2. When I am in one of the forms, do I have to "save" my selections, and how?

3. How do I exit from any of the forms to give me the total price to the step, form, I have reached?

4. The total cost should appear in a separate form (screen) at the same time should be saved?

Develop A Program Structure In Very Broad Terms

Jan 22, 2009

I'm trying to develop a program structure in very broad terms. At this point, the Forms used do nothing but call other Forms and allow for their closure. After startup and initialization activities, I want the user to set up options and run the program. The program can be run again (click one button) and again with the same options, or (click another), the options can be changed for the next and subsequent runs. Clicking a third button will cause shutdown activities to be performed.

Sounds pretty simple. However, I get the options form the first time, but subsequent ShowDialog calls cause the form to pop up (I detected a Load and an Activated call) for an instant, then disappear, and the program rolls on without permitting option selection, even though the key variable NewSetup is definitely True.

Code:
Public Class RunMain
<STAThread()> _
Shared Sub Main()

Distance Between Two Points On An Image In Terms Of Pixels?

Jun 1, 2012

I'm using Visual Basic 2006 and i'm a newbie so excuse me if my question is not complete. I basically have a picturebox, in which i am displaying an image from a webcam. Now the user clicks on two points on the image and i need to get the distance between the two points in terms of the number of pixels. I did think of and try the pythagorean theorem, but i'm confused as to what units the answer turns out in. Is it in terms of inches? or pixels? Do i need to set the Scale Mode propety to pixels to get it in pixels? And if so, is there a way to get the number of pixels per inch? Sorry for asking so many questions but i've been reading other forums and i'm confused!

Searching A Set Of Data With Multiple Terms Using Linq?

Mar 17, 2010

I'm in the process of moving from ADO.NET to Linq. The application is a directory search program to look people up. The users are allowed to type the search criteria into a single textbox. They can separate each term with a space, or wrap a phrase in quotes such as "park place" to indicate that it is one term.

Behind the scenes the data comes from a XML file that has about 90,000 records in it and is about 65 megs. I load the data into a DataTable and then use the .Select method with a SQL query to perform the searches. The query I pass is built from the search terms the user passed. I split the string from the textbox into an array using a regular expression that will split everything into a separate element that has a space in it. However if there are quotes around a phrase, that becomes it's own element in the array. I then end up with a single dimension array with x number of elements, which I iterate over to build a long query.

I then build the search expression below:

query = query & _
"((userid LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _
"(nickname LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _

C# - Project With Mixed Languages In .NET?

May 4, 2011

I'm not sure if what I am trying to do is possible, but surprisingly VS2008 seems to let me copy a .cs file directly into my VB.NET project. I then thought that I may be able to use the class in this file directly from VB.NET. However, it doesn't see it when I try to reference it in. Is what I'm trying to do possible, or is VS2008 simply treating the C# file as a resource file or something?

Check If String Contains When The Letters Are Mixed Up?

I wasn't for sure how to word the first two sentences and I think an example will help explainmy problem better. So here is an example. I have a textbox where you input what you want to search for in the wordlist. Lets say you type in tca . The wordlist contains cat frog dog , each word on a separate line. What i want to do is take what you typed in the textbox, tca , and find the word cat in the wordlist.
