i am trying to get an output from a data grid view into a text file and align it properly into columns. i have been able to get the output into the text file.. but they are not properly aligned as they appear in the data grid view. They always appear this way
I am new to VB and I am trying to complete a project for class. I am trying to take the data from a txt file and then display it in my ListBox in proper format with columns and such. Here is the code I have now:
I need it to look like the following: XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX
I've seen several representations of how to do this in VB6, but I would prefer managed code (VB.net). Also, I want to make sure that what appears in the textbox will translate to the printed page the same way.
I want to align a sample of data that is reproduced in the ListBox so that it would look neat. However, I have failed to find any alignment related property available for ListBoxes. Therefore, I would appreciate an expert advise on how to invoke it without extensive coding.
I am writing to a txt file from vb.net. I cant write 2 columns of data and have the 2nd col start at same place. Col1 is OK but col2 starts at different places depending on how big col1 ,row data is. How do I force this as currently I use tabs but again this doesn't work.
Private Sub write_file() w = File.AppendText(filename) eqNo += 1 count += 1 If count > 2 Then '2nd col w.WriteLine() [Code] .....
I have a requirement as follows,I have to display a list of datas in to a list box in button click functionality. When i click the button, values should be fetched from database table and loaded in to the list box.

I have very new to VB. I was just fiddling and ran into this. I cant set the text alignment of a text box twice with the focus events as well as cant set or reset the password char property. The code is given below:
Private Sub tbxLogin_LostFocus(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles tbxLogin.LostFocus If tbxLogin.Text = String.Empty Then 'tbxLogin.ResetText() tbxLogin.ForeColor = Color.Gray 'tbxLogin.TextAlign = HorizontalAlignment.Center 'trying to align the tbx gives it focus [Code] .....
I have a user control with an embeded DataGridView. I exposed the Columns property so that the columns collection could be edited in the visual designer:
I have this Quiz software that lets you create online multiple choice quizzes which are great for studying (I am in grad school and I'm trying to use everything I can to learn). So the Quiz software is great but it only lets you input questions by hand, one by one. I took a look at the .xml file that the quiz program spits out and came up with the idea to try and make a converter so that I can import many questions at once. I was hoping to try and solve this limitation by doing the following:
Take a .doc that say a tutor gives us with a bunch of practice questions, and then take that into Crimson Editor, and then format it so the question is on line 1, the multiple choice answers are on lines 3,4,5, and 6, (for the next question, the question would be on line 11, and the answers on lines 13, 14, 15, and 16, and so on) and then take that saved .txt file into my program, hit the generate button, and it will spit out the .xml file, and then import that into the quiz software to generate the online quiz.
Here is an attached screenshot of my program layout so far:
I figured out how to open a text file by watching simple youtube tutorials, but I don't know how to have it generate the stuff and have it show up in the bottom text box. I know how to do the coding to convert the txt to proper xml code but I don't know how to be able to save the contents of the bottom text window to an xml file.
I am looking for a code snippet which opens a image, creates a clone of this bitmap in memory disposes this opened image so that all handles are closed.
Usually we can open a bitmap using this[code...]
the following code however keeps the Image File locked until the application is running, any suggestions how to dispose it properly. (So that no handle is left open )
Things i already tried: use dispose method of bitmap <= doesnt work (need to write implementation) Using Block also doesnt work.
its noobish question but i didnt find any solution for it here is my problem : i want to write bites from 2 seprated file (1.txt + 2.txt) into 1 single file(3.txt) but i cant
My page have a text box where TextMode="MultiLine"......see below
Now when I save this text in my database of course it does not save it with any HTML tags, and thus when i read that value from the database it comes back as 1 line such as....
But I want it to be dispayed just like the user typed it. Is there no out of box control that will do this for me rather than me using Ajax or jQuery?
I've got a program which displays data in a listbox in five columns. All are separated using one or more ControlChars.Tab. I want to write these columns to a text file, however, when I do, my columns lose their alignment. I can change alignment so that it displays nicely in text file, but then it is off in list box. Is there a way to get what I see in my listbox to display the same way in a text file - maybe a different way of separating my columns (not using ControlChars.Tab)?
So I am adding StaticTextField controls to a page. This is using ExtJS, but we use VB.NET methods to add ExtJS so we don't actually have to write it.I tried using
.Style = "text-align:right"But that isn't working, in fact it isn't doing anything. Here is the whole code of one of the controls:
[Code]...
Anyone have any idea why these aren't right aligning using CSS? For some reason, if I try to use the same code above (the CSS), to try and right align comboboxes, or number fields, it works, and they are located right underneath these static controls, but it's not working for static controls. They need to be static because we don't want the "box" outline on each of the values, we just want it to be text, nothing else on the screen.
i created a panel with few buttons, all buttons have the same size, most buttons hold images, 2 of them hold string (1 or 2 digit) the string buttons will not align with the rest of them, and i have no idea why ?
I am creating a project in VB.NET in which one of the reports require that the name of employees should be displayed as column names and whatever work they have done for a stated period should appear in rows below that particular column. Now as it is clear, the columns will have to be added at runtime. Am using an ODBC Data source to populate the grid. Also since a loop will have to be done to find out the work done by employees individually, so the number of rows under one column might be less or more than the rows in the next column. Is there a way to create an empty data table and then update its contents based on columns and not add data based on addition of new rows.
I have a patient register form in my project...When the patient details will be saved in the database it should also be saved in the text file...I am dynamically creating a folder with patientid and firstname in that folder I am creating a text file patientreg.txt and it should contain the contents of text file....
I have wriiten the below code but I am getting an error.... Dim di As DirectoryInfo = New DirectoryInfo(Application.StartupPath & "" + txtPatientID.Text + txtFName.Text)
I'm in the final stages of finishing a program I've been working on for nearly a year now, and this is basically my final hurdle. The Save dialogue is working beautifully, with 'flags' in order to switch it over from the regular input into text boxes to the Listbox input protocol.
I am writing a simple program that will encrypt the text that is held in a text box and save it to a text file but I want it to be able to open a text file and decrypt the contents.
Ok now all the threads I have read are about reading a text file that is in a preset location.
What I want to do is open a text file that the user selects and have the contents displayed in a text box.
I have a Rich textbox from which i need to search for text.Find should start at the beginning of the text. Find Next should look for the next occurrence. If no previous occurrence, it should start at the beginning (duplicate functionality as Find).Problem is Find is working fine but when i click find next instead of searching for the next occurence it starts from begining after i click find button.
Public Class frmFind Dim start As Integer = 0 Dim indexOfSearchText As Integer = 0
I want to Align my form to center of my screen ,i have set ( form properties "Start Position = CENTER SCREEN ") .But its not Aligning to center . Every time the window is moving right wards when it opens.
I converted a VB6 application to VB.Net and in doing so, I seem to have lost the ability to auto-align the controls on the form. I thought I could change that in the "Tools > Options > Windows Forms Designer > General" area but that doesn't seem to work. Anyone have any ideas? I really don't need to use a grid for aligning since the auto-align functionality can be used but I just don't know how to get it back.
I have a problem in right aligning a toolstrip on the status strip of the form. It has a property alignemnt set to right but it still remains on the left side of the container.
How to put a control near the right side of the status strip?
I borrowed part of this routine to download files, and it works great; except when I download text files the returns aren't written into the outputted file. I've tried different web request and techniques with no luck in solving the problem.
Test file:[URL]
Private Sub DownloadFile(ByRef FileSource As String, ByRef FileDestination As string) Dim request As WebRequest Dim response As WebResponse
I am new with VB 2010, I am starting a new personal project to control a browser based game for meWhat i have done so far is made a Windows Forms Application, with three tabs all with web browser and directing to the game. What i am having trouble with so far is to align the page so it is just the flash box of the game on the web site, so all i see in my window is the game and nothing more of the website. Also trying to work out how i can allow each tab to have a different account but on the same url address. I need to find a Windows forms Text edit which can handle MS Word documents correctly. That is documents with Images, textboxes etc (.doc, .docx).I have tried Devexpress Xtrarichedit and TXText Control but when you load a MS Word Document (.doc, .docx) the document does not appear as it does in MS Word. That is Textboxes overlapping images are misaligned or have no transparent background option, so the white background of the textbox hides part ot the image.Has anybody had experience with 3rd party Document .net editors which mamage MS Word Documents correctly?
