On my program the user clicks a button which then runs the main code for my program. The problem is once the code is executed I can no longer move or interact with any form boxes, reliably at least . Sometimes there will be a period of delay where I can move it for an instance. Is there anyway I can make it so that my form is able to be moved while the program is running?

I have a winform project which lists all the files in a specified folder. It allows the user to select a new destination for each file, and when the user has chosen the destinations for all files that he would like to be moved, it moves the files, one by one.My next step is, I need to display a confirm form when the files are being moved, and add each file's name and destination to the confirm form as it is being moved.How can I add more text to the confirm form's controls after I already loaded it (using confirm.showdialog() from my other form, without any user interaction? I imagine that I need to do it from the original form, because it needs to display each one when it starts to move that file?
View 3 RepliesI'm lending a copy of my .exe on a memory stick and because I dont completely trust them, , I would like to build in a function that as soon as my app has finished doing what its doing And the big red X is hit it will delete itself, but my problem is that i cant put the deletetion in the form closing because the prog is still running, so what should I do? Is there a way that I can get the app to close as soon as the dedicated task is complete, It will remove itself from the memory stick but if the X is hit before the process is complete the then the prog will remain.
View 14 RepliesI've written a program using Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition in Visual Basic. It's a Windows Forms Application. The program is very simple, it just reads a directory of text files, parses the text and outputs another text file as .CSV file
for import into Excel. There's no user interaction required but it never displays the form and therefore the progress bar. If I put a GO button on the form and modify the program so that the subroutine that does the processing isn't called until the user clicks GO it shows the form and the progress bar etc. How can I make the program run at startup, show the form, show the progress bar and then pause for 10 seconds or so and then exit?
I have just built a full main menu for my pc game and need to terminate the running program using a button held within the form. I have built a button labeled exit and tried a couple of closing codes such as:

View 1 RepliesI wrote this VB program to be able to throw a device we developed into programming mode where we use an ATMEL Flip installer to upload new firmware. I can program one device after another running the application off of Visual Studio Express 2010 or Visual Studio 2010, but when I go to publish this file and run it on another machine, it becomes unstable and crashes after each upload. On those same computers if I run the raw unpackaged program under Visual Studio Express, the system does not crash, and I can program devices repeatedly.

I had the battle system 60% worked out. Went to play some Dragon Age, when I came back nothing was working as the way I left it. I don't know what happened.The richtext box is supposed to disaply the attack monster description, and then it's name, the amount of damage it does. I had it so that I could attack, be attacked, and display damage, and attack discription of both player and monster. when I opened my project to work on it again, hardly anything was working right.[code]
