Panel Glow On MouseEnter Or Focus
Apr 13, 2011In my application I have 4 panels. Each of which have a "mini-app" such as a calculator, sticky notes, etc.My GUI could use improvement so I had an idea of making the Border of a panel glow where if your mouse enters or focuses on the panel or its children the border glows.I have not yet worked with glowing type elements and am not sure how I would do this. I just want the border to glow like the Start button at the bottom left corner of your screen in Windows 7. The start button glows on mouseover and focus. To my knowledge I believe they just use two images, but how did they use the animation for "glow effect"? [code]

Dec 14, 2010I have set a scrollable control's autoscroll to true. What do you do when you don't want a scroll to occur? For example, suppose you have a RichTextBox and a button side by side as below:
Notice that "button1" has the focus. If you click on the RichTextBox to give it focus, the scroll bars will scroll until the upper left corner of the RichTextBox is in view.
But what if, for whatever reason, you wanted to keep button1 in view? How would you do that?

Right now I would have 20 different events...10 for Enter event and 10 for Leave event. Of course, entering would change the back color to "green" and leaving would change it back to "white".

Mar 10, 2009Here is what I've done:1) Created an Excel COM add-in for Excel 20032) Added a NotifyIcon to the Windows taskbar notification area (aka system tray) during ThisAddIn_Startup3) Added a ContextMenuStrip with a ToolStripButton to the NotifyIconWhy is it when I right click on the NotifyIcon, Excel gains focus? If after clicking on the NotifyIcon to display the ContextMenuStrip I choose not select an option on the ContextMenuStrip and instead click back on the Excel window, I get a weird flashing cell in Excel.I've created a video of the problem to help you see what I [url] anyone know how to prevent this? Nov 26, 2009I have two forms in an application. One is he background and then I show another keypad form called with the show() method (not showDialog) because I need to perform some validations on btn click.
The kepad has 10 buttons and an Enter Button. The problem is that the form keeps loosing focus (I checked this with a messagebox which keeps poping up once for focus=true and again for focus=false, it continuously keeps losing and gaining focus) so it does not process any keypress events untill i click somewhere on the form. I tried using me.focus() in form load event but to no avail. The forms TopMost property is also set to true.

Asp.net - Controls (buttons) Be Set In A ModalPopup Extender Panel That Do Not Close The Panel?
Apr 21, 2009When a user is editing a given piece of data, they're allowed to add messages/comments. These are stored as child records in a SQL database. Clicking on the Add Message button brings up a panel (pnlMessage) courtesy of the AJAX ModalPopup Extender. This takes some input and, when the "Send Message" button in the panel is clicked (I learned the hard way to NOT make that the 'OkButton' property), the message is stored in the database and an email is sent to the intended recipients. No problem there.
However, I need to be able to allow the user to add new email addresses (so long as they are registered in our database). I have another ModalPopup / panel combo (pnlSearch) that's tied to a button on the previous panel (pnlMessage).
The user is supposed to be able to add an email or click on a search button to populate a list to choose from.
The pop-up panel (pnlSearch) comes up just fine, but clicking the "Lookup" button (which instigates the search and returns a collection of records that the user is supposed to pick from) closes the panel.
Previously, I ran into the problem of having the Button.Click event never firing when I put the Button into the "OkControlID" property (the CancelControlID works fine since I don't want to do anything). Removing the "OkControlID=Button" line allowed it to work perfectly with the Button.Click event firing as expected.
So now I have the Search panel with a button for "OK" and a button for "Search" - but the panel should stay up and visible after the Search.Click does it's thing. Am I missing some property that basically says "don't close the panel when this button is clicked"? Of course, if I bring up the panel again in the same session, the results from the previous effort are there (the search results).

As a small example of the problem, suppose I have one Panel2 contained inside of Panel1. If the Left position of panel2 is set to 0 (meaning it's border is up against the left edge of Panel1), the left border will show as bold, and slightly indented.

Mar 21, 2012I have a textbox on a form that when it loses focus it updates other text boxes on the form. But before it updates the other textboxes I check the input value in the textbox lostfocus event if it is undesired I return focus to the the textbox and alert the the user with a msgbox. However where my problem is, is that when the cancel button is clicked I don't care what the input in the textbox is because the changes are being canceled but if the value is undesired the it keeps returning focus to the textbox instead of canceling the changes. Is there a way to see what control was clicked on before or in the lost focus event? Can't seem to figure it out tried enter and leave events but no luck!

Autoscroll X.panel According To T.panel's Scroll Position
Mar 19, 2009This is for a mapping/plotting program.
t.panel is the main panel and it has too much content to fit in one screen so there are scroll bars. x.panel contains the horizontal scale for the data points in t.panel. I drew the scale using a bitmap and set it as x.panel's background.
Setting x.panel's horizontalscroll.value = t.panel's horizontalscroll.maximum doesn't seem to work. I think this is because x.panel's doesn't have any content that causes it to need scroll bars.

Nov 7, 2009I am having problem setting focus on specific cell in my Datagridview1 . On Form1 when clicking on cell 3 in any row, I am callig a Dialog1. However, when done working with it, and closing the Dialog1, the focus returns to cell 3 in my Datagridview1 . I like to set the focus on the next cell(4) making it the current cell.
I have tryed :

Panel Is Not Staying In The Right Position In Another Panel?
Jan 17, 2011I have a problem with a certain panel in another panel.
I have declared a panel on my mainform that is called panel1 ( dock: fill)
In this panel is another panel ( panelmain )with size 10.000, 10.000 pixels. Now I put the auto scroll property of panel1 to true, so then the panel1 has scrollbars on both sides and can show the whole panelmain.
Now the user has the ability to zoom, which basically means that I just scale Panelmain with all it's child controls.
Like Panelmain.Scale(0.95) ( To zoom out )
And panelmain.scale( 1.05) ( To zoom in)
This works well, but when the user is using the scrollbars in panel1 and after that zooms in ( or out ) the location of panelmain is changing. So I tried to solve this by docking panelmain inside panel1 at the left. But now the vertical scrollbar is gone. how I should dock panalemain inside panel1 to prevent panelmain from moving around but also in a way that both the horizontal as the vertical scrollbar are present?

Embed A Panel Or Picturebox Containing Controls Or Images Within An Outer Panel Or Picturebox?
Mar 1, 2012In VB6 I could embed a panel or picturebox containing controls or images within an outer panel or picturebox. If I moved the outer control then the embedded panel would move with the outer panel and stay in the same relative position, which is what I require. This doesn't seem to happen in VB.NET, the internal panel stays fixed in its location, even if I have pasted this panel within the outer container. Is there are trick to this or do I have to code to get the internal panel to move with the outer one? How does an internal container remain embedded within an outer one?

Apply Calculation To A 2d Array?
Mar 23, 2012I have a 2d array and I want to do a calculation on each element in the array and then return the index which results in the smallest value.
I have tried iterating through each element in the 2d array and running the calculation. If the calculated result is smaller than the currently stored minimum I set that to the minimum.
This works but it runs so slowly it makes the solution a non starter. It performs each calculation quickly but because of the number of elements in the array the calculation for the whole array is stupidly long.
Apply Changes To All Forms Of An Application
Jun 21, 2010Is there a way to apply any changes made to an entire application and not just the open (active) form that you are in? I.E. I change the backcolor to a color from a color dialog. I want that chosen color to be applied to all the forms' backcolor in my project. Can this also then be applied to all the other controls' backcolor? The code that I posted works but all forms and controls have to have the changes applied to each one separately.
