Nov 11, 2010So I was reading a bit on AutoComplete of textboxes in VB.NET, but I can't really understand where these are stored? Is it a fully built in feature, or do I have to write some code for it to work? I've found the AutoCompleteMode and AutoCompleteSource properties of textboxes.But I want to append whatever I've written in the textbox to the autocomplete source. Do I connect the source to My.Settings or something

Auto-complete Textboxes With Binding Data From Database?
Oct 12, 2010I am using two autocomplete textboxes and both of them are binding data from the same table. What I want is when I select an item from the autocomplete drop down list of textbox1 not to have the textbox2 value set. Example :
Column1 Column2
Row1 value1 value2
Row2 value3 value3
When I select value1 for textbox1 I get automatically value2 in textbox2. I do not want that.I want when I select value1 for textbox1 , textbox2 to remain empty until I select a value for it (it maybe value3)

I know one option would be to write a stored procedure and pass the value of the dropdown box to the sp and then use SqlDataReader to readthe values to populate the textboxes. I am new to VB and was wondering if i should attempt this using LINQ?

I have been searching for a solution on the web but haven't been able to find much help.I need to add textboxes to a gridview edit cell, based on the number of rows of text in one of the cells. I have coded the capture of the number of textboxes I need to add.
But I am not sure which Gridview event to add the code, when going into edit mode, to run the loop that will insert additional Textboxes in a specific column of the row selected to edit.
The user sees colA that has text with line vbCRLF's embedded say:
"This is sample text."
"Line2"
"Line3"
My code reads three Carriage Return, Line feeds. So when the user goes into Edit mode I want to provide one text box for each line or more accurately, add two more as one will already exist.

Mar 11, 2010When i press the 'edit' button a listview is shown, filled with records('empcode' field from empdetail) from a access table, say 'empdetail'. now if i doubleclick on a particuler record in the listview, then the listview will disappear and the records will be displayed in the textboxes. exactly what we do in vb6, the coding follows,cn is the connection to the db.

Auto-select A Textbox's Contents?
Jul 16, 2010I am writing an add-in for VB.NET 2008. I am getting some strange behavior when I run the generated form and was wondering if anyone has any clue as to why this happens. I re-booted and started fresh and get the same results.
I am trying to select the contents of the textbox when the user clicks on it using the Enter event. I tried the following

Apr 18, 2012I have a listview and labels on my form. When the user clicks on the label the labels text displays in the listview. And the first item in the listview is selected. But when I click on another label the text is displayed as the 2nd item in the listview but it is not selected.

Apr 29, 2011Writing a little program for my wife and thought it would be cool to have the calendar auto select the next day of her choice when she opens it. Example it's Monday and she opens the program to make notes about things for her girly get together every Thursday. Right now she opens it and has to select the next Thursday first to get the date.
What i thought would be cool is if the program picks the next Thursday for her, in the future the night may change to Tuesday so i don't mind hard coding the selection for now as it wont change all the time.Is there an easy calendar or date picker routine available for this or is it a roll up the sleeves, i searched and not finding anything.
