Battle System Not Replacing Existing Data?

I have my battle systems code set to (attempt) to replace the test enemies data with the data that I have saved into a text file every time you either kill the enemy, or you leave the battle and come back to it... or if youve run away from the enemy.ive got two functions in the battle page, one of which is an agressive attack, the other of which is the running away function, and both of them are supposed to run the function that resets and reloads the enemies data from a text file, yet none of them are doing what they are supposed to do...
the problem that I am having is that when I either run away, or I kill the enemy, its data is never reset to the baseline of 2000, it is always, in the case of running away, what it was when I ran away, or if I killed it, it is a random value less than 2000...

Not sure what I am doing wrong here but I have 2 buttons and a rich text box. The issue is when I click the second button to add text to the rich text box and it over writes the current text that is already in the rich text box. How can I code this second button so that the text is added to the rich text box and not replacing the current text?

I am working on a simple NES gaming reprogramming project (who doesn't try to program video games when they start out?) and am coming up with a goofy little error in my battle screen code. The Battle Screen is supposed to trigger and draw this form, but the thing redraws itself three or four times, creating an obvious and obnoxious triple-blink. Basically, the OnPaint event is still a bit of a mystery to me. Is there a way to reduce the amount of redraws so that it doesn't blink like it does?

i have data (CSV) that goes into an array. I then update the data but when it updates, it keeps blank elements of the array. Each time i update, the array doesnt replace my old data with the new data, it just seems to create a new element of the array. Then i get the incorrect count of entries.

The system should not insert selected records from my datagridviewcheckboxcolumn if it's already existed in the database.It's like when you're registering online. If you're username/email address already registered,it would inform you that youre username/email is already registered and the site would ask you to change your username/email to new ones.The difference in my system is that i have 2 datagridviewcheckbox columns not just textboxes . Parent and Child in the datagridview. What i want to happen is that once the Code has been registered as Parent it cant be registered again as Child anymore.

I have a workbook (Workbook1) that runs through some steps using visual basic, which ends up opening another workbook Workbook2). Once Workbook 2 is opened, I need to copy a section of data from it, into Workbook1 int a specific worksheet. I was able to do this by recording a macro, but the challange is, the name of Workbook 1, and Workbook 2, will vary by User. When I created the macro it uses the files as they are currently named. I have a binary file. If I look at it with a hex editor, the first values are:208, 207, 17, 224, 161, 177, 26, 225, 0, 0, 0, ... etc.It has a length of 330240 bytes I have tried to open it and read it into a string so I can manipulate it and write it back. No matter what I use, I either don't get the correct number of bytes or the values in the string are incorrect. The most common error results in the first values being: 63, 63, 17, 63, 63, 26, 0, 0, 0 .... etc.It is interesting that it appears that any value > 63 becomes 63.
I get the 2nd values by a simple loop:

I have tried a whole number of ways to read in the file, including filestream, My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText, File.io.readAllLines, etc.All either give me a string length of about 324000 (not sure why) or, if they do, don't have the correct values. Yes, I have tried various encoding options.
I need to find a string (sort of like: "D" & Chr(0) + "L" & Chr(0) + "S" & Chr(0)... ) so I can then replace that portion of the string with a new value, then write out the file.I use the ".indexOf" to find the data in the string.Why can't I load the file into a string? Or, do you know of an easy way to find some text (similar to above) in a file and then replace the next x number of bytes with a new value and close the file?

I have an ArgumentException was unhandled message: Cannot add or insert the item '1' in more than one place. You must first remove it from its current location or close it. Parameter name item. Note: Have 2 listboxes 4 textboxes double click listbox2 and it fills in the four texboxes (now it needs to put it back into listbox2 in the same place it came from but crashes. I marked the area and underlined where the error message was coming up. Ok so here's my problem. I am trying to make it so when you push a button it will add a new character to my listbox. Everytime I go to add a new character its data replaces the existing ones I have already added to the list. I know what's doing it because it's using ThisNewCharacter everytime the button is pushed, I do not know how to work around it tho! I am trying to edit, add, and update my database. I have the code for updating and it updates fine (I can see the modified time on the file), but I was wondering why none of my changes were being saved when I closed the window.
