Code For Editing Existing Data?

I am trying to edit, add, and update my database. I have the code for updating and it updates fine (I can see the modified time on the file), but I was wondering why none of my changes were being saved when I closed the window. Then I realized I was an idiot and I don't have any code to actually accept edits on this form, I just have code for updating and adding new rows It wouldn't update without me telling it which rows have been edited and need updating, right I mean I can't just type a new value in the textbox, click save, and expect it to save the change.This is the update and new row code I'm using:

I can add new data to the database and have it saved and everything (though my method not be great, but it works) but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to edit existing data and save it. assume it would be better to have it check whether or not the row exists, and if it does, just update it rather than trying to insert new rows? This is the code I have right now to

in my visual basic 2008 express edition project I have 2 forms (paxreportfrm,paxsearchfrm).I want to give inputs in paxreportfrm and save the record(which is working fine).then in paxsearchfrm i want to search depending on multiple criteria (working ok).when i click on the record which is in gridview in the search form,opens up the paxreportfrm again with all the details of that specific record (working fine). Now i want to update the existing record which has been populated from the gridviw of the paxsearchfrm and also want to have the option to delete the record.I am using the datacontrols(wizard) to make connection with the access2007 database.can someone give me some example of how to do the Edit and delete in the database pls.I already have a save button on the paxreportfrm(if i click on that, after changing the details on existing record, it just saves IT as a new record).so i really need something which will actually save the modifications on the existing record AND ALSO WILL BE ABLE TO DELETE IT FROM THE database. I have tried couple of methods but none of them are working.

First off let me just say i have imports for the excel and office applications. I am using office 2007. I am hoping someone can show me what I am doing wrong here.
I have been searching and researching for a few days now on formatting excell cells within the VB code. It works for most objects such as bold, font size, where i want to place the data and what I want contained in the cells.
I have been using the VBA within excel (macros) to determine the code i should use to format the cells, however, The underline feature doesnt work correctly as with any justification of the cells. or merging. I can't seem to make many of the format options work and am wondering if they are slightly different or if i need a few more code lines so that when i declare something like this...

I get an error, xlcenter is not declared. I cant declare it as a string i just recieve a com error starting it couldnt be done.. I am stuck on how to get by these so called "undeclared" command strings that i need to format the cells properly.

I need to be able to edit vb.net code using visual studio without stopping the debugging executable.How can I go about doing this? If it's impossible, how can I code and reload that code without stopping the executable? I know of scripting languages like Lua, but I fear the implementation of another language within the VB is unnecessary to save me the trouble of stopping the executable. The issue is that starting and stopping this executable can take a very long time, and I need to be able to edit the code quickly and frequently.

I've tried using the VS 2010 beta to edit some real projects, and it is next to unusable due to performance issues. The cpu is more or less constantly at 100%, and most often the code editor uses around 10 seconds to respond to any text input. If I introduce a couple of compile errors things get even worse. Are there some drastical performance improvements that are planned in the VB editor before release, or are there special things that might trigger this?

Edit 1: Uninstalled & Reinstalled Edit 2: Same problem. Seriously? Yes.I am having a problem with msvb7.dll eating 50%+ cpu on my dual core system. This usually lasts 10-30 seconds or so, during which time the IDE is non-responsive.
This occurs when I do pretty much anything in the text editor, and can be replicated by simply adding blank lines to a function, and then deleting them. Or pasting some code. Or... lotsa stuff.
SP1 installed I had DevExpress' refactor/coderush, components, and codeit.right installed, but have removed all 3 of them. (I had installed the latest version of Refactor Pro! (9.3.4), perhaps the day before)
I have tried a VS.NET Repair. There is a kb that referenced some cpu destroying with vb, but it was included in SP1

I have a workbook (Workbook1) that runs through some steps using visual basic, which ends up opening another workbook Workbook2). Once Workbook 2 is opened, I need to copy a section of data from it, into Workbook1 int a specific worksheet. I was able to do this by recording a macro, but the challange is, the name of Workbook 1, and Workbook 2, will vary by User. When I created the macro it uses the files as they are currently named. I've seen this great example of serial communication in VB.NET[URL]..I try to use it in a project I am working on but somethings are not clear to me.1: Now the send and received data is shown in one RichTextBox but I would like to split this into two RichTextBoxes (RtbSend and RtbReceived).It is unclear to me how and were data is assigned to the RichTextBox?
2. the received data is shown in the Richtextbox as one long line, I would like to get a new line for every send message.So for example: I I send "test" four times, I would like to see:The example describes that "comPort_DataReceived" is executed when data is waiting in the buffer. Where can I see the eventhandler responsible for this? How does it know data is waiting?The problem is this kind of coding is a bit to difficult for me. I'm having problems editing the text of a particular column in a datagridview from the front end. The text enters ok but as soon as the cell loses focus it goes back to the old value. The datagrid view readonly property is set to false and I don't have any problem writing to the other columns.

well this may be a simple question to some but for me, im not even sure where to start. I have never done a program in VB.NET yet that uses a MySQL database. So this should be a fun thing to learn. I looked at an example for access databases and it seemed pretty straight forward. But I must use MySQL as the database is on a Linux server in Ohio.
What I got so far is how to connect to the database using ADODB. Here the example I'm giving. You got 4 col's call AccountNum (primary key), Phone, Name, and Address. For each row is data of a client. What I'm trying to do: the program asks for the account number. You type in the account number of the client. It then
compares it to the rows of AccountNum col till it finds a row with it. Then it asks if you'd like to change the phone number or address.
So what I'm looking for is the, how to call rows and change data in col's.

As my latest questions have stated, i am in a process of researching on Silverlight 3 and its application as a suitable RIA solution to a pre-built project a client of ours wishes to webify. And my experience in .Net and silverlight is about 3 - 4 weeks.I have now become aware of .Net RIA Services. I require to use an existing VB class; which was created as a quick wrapper class to emulate a small piece of the client's application code. This is used as a proof of concept. It contains one function which uses the client's DLL files to return a simple data type This class has already been used successfully with Flex/Weborb combination.I unfortunately do not have enough knowledge or experience in Silverlight/RIA Services to grasp what it is i have to do to get the file working. All the examples I find online only specify the method where you use a database as dataSource etc.Could you please inform me how i would go about implementing RIA Services with Silverlight 3, using existing code/classes with no DB? Or could you point me in a direction for further research on the matter?

I've never used nested SELECTs in SQL before so I'm not sure if I did it right. Aside from that, this is all stuff I've done before so I'm relatively sure that it's all correct. Finally, there are no errors being reported when I debug, although the updates don't seem to be coming through from the text fields (txtContent.Text isn't changing to reflect the new value).
