i want to create a table that include a current year data and as well as previous data to be compare. here is the example of the table that i want to create: but i want to compare one of the annual data with the previous year. as example i want to compare between the data of current AR of 2007 with the current AR for 2006, Current AR of 2006 with current AR for 2005 and go on~, but i have no idea how to do it.
View 1 RepliesIt seems like when there is only one row at the data grid view with a data source pointing to a data table, it's row state for the data table doesn't change when editing. It remained "unchanged" reguardless to how many columns I had entered. However,after editing, when you click on a different row or click on any of the column headers to change their sorting, the row's state from the data table then gets changed to "modified". I'm not sure why the data table's row states gets changed only when you do those things instead of finishing editing itself. Couldn't the data grid view be able to change the data table's row states when you finished editing a cell?

I have a users database table. One of the columns contain the "uniqueidentifier" user's profile ID, created by VWD (from the automatic profiles table).
From my table, I would like to select only the data pertaining to the logged in user.
How do I get the current unique user profileID in general and then how do I use that for my query?
In the configure data source option of the control, I select the check box for "Return Only Unique IDs" and the WHERE option. In this new window I select the Column to the profile userID ... "=" and then assumed I should select Source: "Profile".
Now what should the parameter properties or value be to select only the current logged userID?
OR how can I do this just in C#? There doesn't seem to be any code behind after instering a DB with the VWD controls?

What I am trying tot achieve is the following:User inputs data in one form that saves to the dataset table no problems. On an edit screen I want the current data saved to appear in this page within all the relevant fields but when saving I want this data to add to the dataset table as an additional line of data so the transaction records are kept.I want to add a new datarow regardless of it saving one change or all 7 changes that are possble.
e.g. Line 1 - user inputs 7 cells of data Line 2 - user amends 2 cells of data Line 3 - user amends 1 cell of data an so on. Unfortunately the terminology for certain items above may not be correct as I am still new to this programming and still on a massive learning curve.At the moment I do not have the code for what I am trying to achieve as I really dont know where to start with it.I am currently able to save the data and have it appear in the "edit" panel however only the cells changed are saved an it overwirtes the initial input.

I have two data tables. the second related to the first. Using a datagridview for the first table I am able to enter and save data ok. if I run the code twice in a row the data is still there. When I edit the data in the related table in it's own datagirdview the data is there and displays correctly, but on running the code a second time the related data is lost. In both cellendedit events I am using

I have a data logging application that stores data in a table in a MySQL database. Data with a TimeStamp is logged into the table anytime the data from the sensor changes. This means that there maybe 2 seconds between data points or there maybe 20 seconds between points depending on how the data is changing.
When I need the data I have 2 dates and use this command to fill a table..SELECT FROM myTable WHERE timeStamp > date1 AND timeStamp < date2 This gets all the data that has a TimeStamp between the given dates, but in most case the first date in the returned table will be after date1, so I need to get the data from one row before the date returned in the table to know what the data was at date1.How can I get the data row that immediately precedes the returned data set?

I would like to know the best, or standard, way to accomplish real-time client updates in a small multi-user application using an access data table as a data source.Specifically, this application will be used by 3-4 people. It uses a datatable which is filled on form load and bound to a datagrid at design time. The datatable is stored on a shared drive. The data table on the shared drive is updated in two ways:
1) Users can update the datagrid which then updates the datatable on the shared drive via the data adapter's Update method.
2) A server application does some work on some text files, periodically updating the data table.
I need the clients to reflect the changes to the data table on the shared drive as closely to real-time as possible. I know that the data table stored in memory on the client is disconnected from the data table on the shared drive, so I must query again to get the updates.
1) Is there an alternvative model I can use which is connected, and which will automatically reflect the updates in the data table on the shared drive?
2) If not, what is the best way to check for changes in the data table (so I can know when to call the data adapter fill method)? I am planning to poll the drive for a change to the .mdb file, raise an event and then fill the data adapter when the event is triggered. I am trying to learn the new methods in .net, but, I cant see a way to step through the data like you can in an ado recordset. I want to pull data from a table once, then split the data with a filter, then step through the rows gathering the dtata till eof. Clear the filter and reset it for the next batch.

I have a listbox in my form that gets its values from a data table by data binding. My question is, when the data (row) is loaded it also selects the first line automatically. I do not want this because I want the listbox to select an item only when the user clicks on it. Otherwise, the iteme should ony be listed. Is there a way to manage this?
View 2 RepliesI have a simple windows form that i would like to send the values of a few textboxes and comboboxes to an rdlc report after saving them (I have VS 2005 standard, so no crystal reports) - it's as follows:
-1 form
-3 textboxes - textbox1, textbox2, textbox3
-1 label - label1
-1 combobox - combobox1
-5 buttons - button1, button2, button3, button4, button 5
the textboxes are labeled length, width, height the combobox is labled unit of measure and contains two options - inches or centimetres the label has text of "your total cubic inches/centimetres is:" - followed by the unit of measure selected.the buttons are labeled save, calculate, print, print preview, and exit.Having said all of the above, the save, calculate and exit button code is easy enough and is good to go - it's print and print preview i'm stuck on the solution i'm after is to take those values and send them to an rdlc report that immediately prints (calls up the default printer dialogue) without preview or anything when the print button is clicked and also have a print preview function as well for when of course the print preview button is clicked.The report has already been created with the titles mentioned above..

I am trying to edit, add, and update my database. I have the code for updating and it updates fine (I can see the modified time on the file), but I was wondering why none of my changes were being saved when I closed the window. Then I realized I was an idiot and I don't have any code to actually accept edits on this form, I just have code for updating and adding new rows It wouldn't update without me telling it which rows have been edited and need updating, right I mean I can't just type a new value in the textbox, click save, and expect it to save the change.This is the update and new row code I'm using:

I'm having problems editing the text of a particular column in a datagridview from the front end. The text enters ok but as soon as the cell loses focus it goes back to the old value. The datagrid view readonly property is set to false and I don't have any problem writing to the other columns.

well this may be a simple question to some but for me, im not even sure where to start. I have never done a program in VB.NET yet that uses a MySQL database. So this should be a fun thing to learn. I looked at an example for access databases and it seemed pretty straight forward. But I must use MySQL as the database is on a Linux server in Ohio.
What I got so far is how to connect to the database using ADODB. Here the example I'm giving. You got 4 col's call AccountNum (primary key), Phone, Name, and Address. For each row is data of a client. What I'm trying to do: the program asks for the account number. You type in the account number of the client. It then
compares it to the rows of AccountNum col till it finds a row with it. Then it asks if you'd like to change the phone number or address.
So what I'm looking for is the, how to call rows and change data in col's.
I can add new data to the database and have it saved and everything (though my method not be great, but it works) but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to edit existing data and save it. assume it would be better to have it check whether or not the row exists, and if it does, just update it rather than trying to insert new rows? I was using ContentType="application/vnd.ms-excel" on my web site to display a datatable in an excel workbook on the client. It worked great. Now that I have upgraded to Office 2007 and vb.net 2010, I get a warning saying that the file is in a different format than specified by the file extension (.xls). I googled new ways of exporting data to excel, but have yet to find a good example. I usedMicrosoft.Office.Interop.Excel which worked great, except I read that you are not supposed to use this on a web server.
