I am displaying this data in a datagrid by connecting datasource and datamember.What i need is to displat a dropdown on second column in the datagrid. When i change the data it should update the database PBL (Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate)
I am trying updating a record. It seems like I did all the right things but I can't seem to update my database. I'm not sure if my update button is functioning as it should be.

Whenever I edit the datagrid, and press update, it doesn't really update the database.
after editing my cell in the datagrid . i am sorting then i select the next record the selection was do to the 1 cell on the row .i don't know what is the problem
View 2 Replies well this may be a simple question to some but for me, im not even sure where to start. I have never done a program in VB.NET yet that uses a MySQL database. So this should be a fun thing to learn. I looked at an example for access databases and it seemed pretty straight forward. But I must use MySQL as the database is on a Linux server in Ohio.
What I got so far is how to connect to the database using ADODB. Here the example I'm giving. You got 4 col's call AccountNum (primary key), Phone, Name, and Address. For each row is data of a client. What I'm trying to do: the program asks for the account number. You type in the account number of the client. It then
compares it to the rows of AccountNum col till it finds a row with it. Then it asks if you'd like to change the phone number or address.
So what I'm looking for is the, how to call rows and change data in col's.

I've never used nested SELECTs in SQL before so I'm not sure if I did it right. Aside from that, this is all stuff I've done before so I'm relatively sure that it's all correct. Finally, there are no errors being reported when I debug, although the updates don't seem to be coming through from the text fields (txtContent.Text isn't changing to reflect the new value).

Now I wanna set when user click on this button to delete a employee (for example) then the datagrid that i have in my application will not show the data of the deleted employee but in the background, the employee haven't been deleted from database.The employee only will be deleted from database when the user click on SAVE button.I know this application have to use RowState but how?
I'm working on a piece of code at the moment that uses an older style DataGrid to allow the user to enter information into the table. It already has an add and delete button. Currently the user enters information into 3 textboxes that are in the footer, and the other rows use labels to display the information.
Essentially what I am wanting to do is take the line that the user has clicked the edit button on, and move the text from there in to the footer (deleteing the row that it was displayed on) so the user can make changes and then click the add button again. At the moment I have tried using FindControls to find the textbox and setting the text that way but it doesnt like it.
So Let me explain the situation, I have a Mainpage Form with a DataGrid Object on it. I have a Create Post Form and I want to use the create post form to also edit a post. Now only individuals who posted a specific post can edit it. I have all the validation code in to check the user etc. I used a simple boolean and then in the create post form created two subroutines, Newpost and Editpost. I have the New Post working perfectly, but i can't get the edit post to work.

I have a datagrid in my VB form. I want to lock in a way that you can not mark any cells in the tables etc.
When I set it to read only I stop the edit function but you can still mark the cells with a cursor. Is it a way to avoid that from happening?
