I have a datagrid in my VB form. I want to lock in a way that you can not mark any cells in the tables etc.
When I set it to read only I stop the edit function but you can still mark the cells with a cursor. Is it a way to avoid that from happening?
I'm working on a piece of code at the moment that uses an older style DataGrid to allow the user to enter information into the table. It already has an add and delete button. Currently the user enters information into 3 textboxes that are in the footer, and the other rows use labels to display the information.
Essentially what I am wanting to do is take the line that the user has clicked the edit button on, and move the text from there in to the footer (deleteing the row that it was displayed on) so the user can make changes and then click the add button again. At the moment I have tried using FindControls to find the textbox and setting the text that way but it doesnt like it.
So Let me explain the situation, I have a Mainpage Form with a DataGrid Object on it. I have a Create Post Form and I want to use the create post form to also edit a post. Now only individuals who posted a specific post can edit it. I have all the validation code in to check the user etc. I used a simple boolean and then in the create post form created two subroutines, Newpost and Editpost. I have the New Post working perfectly, but i can't get the edit post to work.

I am trying updating a record. It seems like I did all the right things but I can't seem to update my database. I'm not sure if my update button is functioning as it should be.

Whenever I edit the datagrid, and press update, it doesn't really update the database.
How do to Read values in DataGrid When user is editng the Cell

But the problem is if a new user installs my application and replaces all databases from some one who has bought key, the application also becomes active without buying key from me.
Is there any possibility that I could mark the databases to be recognized with the particular setup?
I've picked up some code from a colleague, and in one of his methods he has a boolean parameter: ByVal showProactiveChases As Boolean?. I had to look up the ? operator yesterday to see that it denotes a Nullable type. My question is, if I change it to: ByVal showProactiveChases As Nullable(Of Boolean), does the meaning remain the same? I think provided it doesn't change the meaning the second way is much more readable.

But it errors on browser stating that the - IE has blocked this site from using an active x control in an unsafe manner. ( Please see attachment).So should I have to develop the active x control which implement IObjectSafety and also signed digitally, so that it can execute on client browser without any warnings from IE. I have a macro written in VB in Excel, which reads emails from Outlook. I would like to automatize this process, but everytime, when Excel wants to access the outlook, I have to give permition to do that, see http://apophis.wz.cz/permition.PNG (It's in czech, but you will see the point). I am trying to create an xml editor that read and write xml. my code reads the xml with no problem and allows me to create new rows but when I try to "write" it over I get the following error: "Token StartElement in state Epilog would result in an invalid XML document"

I have a form and its filled from a VIEW of two tables on SQL server. When its opened i dont want other users opening that customers details from either table.I know SQL itself prevents writes if its opened but i want to stop people opening the record in the first place.[code]...
I then tried writing these values to the db on the form loading but it doesent work - it just sends back NULLs. I tried the same code in the on load event into a button and it works fine there. So im thinking i should do this as a Trigger on SQL itself, but im unsure how i could get the users computername or Windows Login name, or even username from the front end im building.
I am using XML files to store some iformation that are to be processed. I use this code to interact with the XML file:

What I want to do is to lock the file so that no other process can use the file. If a process wants to use the file, I also want it to wait and try again until file is available.
