The system should not insert selected records from my datagridviewcheckboxcolumn if it's already existed in the database.It's like when you're registering online. If you're username/email address already registered,it would inform you that youre username/email is already registered and the site would ask you to change your username/email to new ones.The difference in my system is that i have 2 datagridviewcheckbox columns not just textboxes . Parent and Child in the datagridview. What i want to happen is that once the Code has been registered as Parent it cant be registered again as Child anymore.

I'm creating another database searcher, only this one is a little better user friendly than the one I made with a datagridview. I'm using the "details" of my dataset(CustomersDataSet) and trying to add a record into an existing database. I'm using this code
Me.TableAdapterManager.UpdateAll(Me.DatabaseDataSet)
which worked for me when using the datagridview, but for some reason it won't work now. Even when I check for my test "add a customer" in the access database itself, it isn't added.

I'm having a problem with the error in verifying the usernames that are already existing in the record/database.
When you inputted a username that already existing it will throw an exception, and when you change the username, it still throws the exception.

I am working with VB.NET.. i have a DataTable called "QUESTION", containing 3 fields:
QuestionNumber (unique integer key)
QuestionText
QuestionType
In my SQL Server database I created a Table called "QUESTION" with the same fields.
QuestionNumber is defined as integer unique key, auto increment
Now, when i make a bulk copy to insert the DataTable into the SQL Server, the database overwrites my QuestionNumber from the DataTable and generates new ones (starting from 1 increment 1).
How do i have to change my database setup, that the original QuestionNumbers are copied into the database?

I am using VB.Net in Visual Studio 2008 with a connected SQL Server Compact Database but for some reason I can not get a record to insert into my Database from my Windows Form.I have used the data connection on the form already to populate a couple of combo boxes but when it comes to commiting the data the sub runs through but there is no additional data in my database.my code is as follows

I have been following a tutorial in a book Vb 2005 Jumpstart Ch 4..Anyway I have followed the books code exactly and the program runs.It connects to Amazons web service and allows the user to search and display books, the application also allows the user to save the titles that they wish by clicking an Add Title button, when the user does this the current focus title is saved to the database and can be viewed off line.When I hit the add title the record gets saved as I can hit the catalog button which opens a new form with a datagrid that has all the titles I just saved in it!! But when I close the app and run it again the catalog is gone?? back to no records again?Now ive never worked with SQL databases before and this is me just having a go at .Net so I have no idea whats wrong or where to look.[code]

I have a ListBox populated with records and an insert button that activates an InputBox which prompts for the record name. What I would like is instead of an OK or Cancel button, I'd like a Insert Above, Insert Below, or Cancel button. My current workaround is using a second InputBox so after receiving the record name, this box asks to place it above or below. It would be much easier for the user having a single InputBox that takes the record number and having the three options, above, below or cancel.
