I would insert records into a MS access database with VB.net, I'm actually a c# programmer and I have never worked with databases before, I got as far as connecting but as soon as I want to add a record I get a "No value given for one or more required parameters" error. Here is the Code.

I am trying to do an insert into a table called Policy. I keep getting an error that says parameter @Split has no default value. To try and resolve the problem, I set the default value of the split field (of type text) in the Policy table to "0" in Access 2007. I am passing in the value of a string "0" into the parameter before the insert statement executes.

I have a simple application for taking Customer orders and their Products. I am using Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition and MS Access 2007.My application uses multiple forms. One of the forms is an Add form from where a New Customer along with his/her details like address, phone, city, state etc can be added. Another form is for the Product Details to be added.I want to know how to retrieve a CustomerID from an MS Access 2007 database for either the newly added Customer or an existing one and insert multiple rows or records for the same CustomerID, as a Customer can order multiple products. I am using VB.Net in Visual Studio 2008 with a connected SQL Server Compact Database but for some reason I can not get a record to insert into my Database from my Windows Form.I have used the data connection on the form already to populate a couple of combo boxes but when it comes to commiting the data the sub runs through but there is no additional data in my database.my code is as follows

Teh table only contains these 4 fields and another field which is an automatically generated number called nbrQuoteID .All of the fields are number fields but I have tried sending them as text to see if it made a difference (Threw up an error) but it didn't.

View 1 RepliesI have been following a tutorial in a book Vb 2005 Jumpstart Ch 4..Anyway I have followed the books code exactly and the program runs.It connects to Amazons web service and allows the user to search and display books, the application also allows the user to save the titles that they wish by clicking an Add Title button, when the user does this the current focus title is saved to the database and can be viewed off line.When I hit the add title the record gets saved as I can hit the catalog button which opens a new form with a datagrid that has all the titles I just saved in it!! But when I close the app and run it again the catalog is gone?? back to no records again?Now ive never worked with SQL databases before and this is me just having a go at .Net so I have no idea whats wrong or where to look.[code]

If you're username/email address already registered,it would inform you that youre username/email is already registered and the site would ask you to change your username/email to new ones.The difference in my system is that i have 2 datagridviewcheckbox columns not just textboxes . when i click the button, i get a error message saying "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement". as far as i can tell, i have everything i need to insert a new row into the database, and i dont see why this problem is occuring.
item(0) is an autonumber key field, so that should make a new record by itself, and i have declared the input textboxes as the data() array
