I'm having a problem with the error in verifying the usernames that are already existing in the record/database.
When you inputted a username that already existing it will throw an exception, and when you change the username, it still throws the exception.
I am thinking of dialling the number and if it rang then it is existing but I am not sure how to implement such. I am on Vista and it looks like all comm ports are not available or that I don't know how to enable them. Upon googling I have found samples of TAPI but I am unable to make them work, the following code is supposed to call a phone no. but I am getting the exception "Value does not fall within the expected range." on the 2nd line and I am clueless as to how to fix it

I'm creating another database searcher, only this one is a little better user friendly than the one I made with a datagridview. I'm using the "details" of my dataset(CustomersDataSet) and trying to add a record into an existing database. I'm using this code

which worked for me when using the datagridview, but for some reason it won't work now. Even when I check for my test "add a customer" in the access database itself, it isn't added.

The system should not insert selected records from my datagridviewcheckboxcolumn if it's already existed in the database.It's like when you're registering online. If you're username/email address already registered,it would inform you that youre username/email is already registered and the site would ask you to change your username/email to new ones.The difference in my system is that i have 2 datagridviewcheckbox columns not just textboxes . Parent and Child in the datagridview. What i want to happen is that once the Code has been registered as Parent it cant be registered again as Child anymore.

Unfortunately, this only gets the username of the user logged on. I was wondering if there is a way to modify this to get all user names.
Is it possible to get a list of usernames (as shown in Control Panel->Users) on the PC that my app is running on? If so, is it then possible to determine the type of account (i.e. Admin, Standard AND if the account is the Built-in Guest or Built-in Administrator account)?

When the application starts up, it starts straight into the login screen.
I want the Username and Password textboxes to read the database and if they match then progress to the next form but if they dont match then a message box will appear.
I also want to create groups of people so if a certain group of people log in they go to a certain form and if the another group of people log in i want them to go to a different form.
Also i want the password box to be * instead of visable text.

I am working on a database application for my Class Reunion in VB.et and VS 2008, My problem is when i build the program it will only work with 1 Database For my Class year, I would like the ability to be able to create a new database for a different classyear than the 1 i build and pre-Populate, so the person using it can do more than 1 year and keep the databases seperate.
